3News has learned Bobby George, well known for his ownership of restaurants and other businesses in the Cleveland area as well as around Ohio, has been charged with at least nine felonies including rape, attempted murder, and kidnapping.
Records from Cleveland Municipal Court indicate a warrant has been issued for George's arrest for crimes allegedly committed between November of 2023 and July of 2024 stemming from a criminal complaint that was filed on Friday. The 43-year-old Lakewood native faces the following charges:
-Attempted murder
-Rape
-Kidnapping (four different instances)
-Felonious assault
-Strangulation (two different instances)
WARNING: This story contains graphic details of alleged physical and sexual violence. Reader discretion is advised.
WKYC has obtained a copy of the arrest warrant detailing the accusations against George. The first purported incident occurred on Nov. 14, 2023, when the victim claimed George pinned her to the ground and strangled her while slamming her head against a table, causing her to have blurred vision, ringing in her ears, and bleeding from her ears. She stated to police she was treated by a nurse practitioner employed by George and later diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome.
The allegations continued from there, including one occurrence where the victim told police George pointed a gun at her and demanded she exit a car to come back inside a residence she was fleeing.
This past June, the woman said George tried to kill her by shoving a towel down her throat, and she maintains George asked "You think God is going to help you?" as she prayed for her life in a closet at "the residence they shared." In a separate instance, the victim told law enforcement George threw her on the ground and raped her after she got out of the shower.

00:00We begin with the story of a well-known Cleveland businessman who is now facing several charges,
00:05including rape, kidnapping, and attempted murder.
00:08A warrant has been issued for Bobby George, who owns several area restaurants, including
00:12Town Hall, Barley House, and Harry Buffalo.
00:16The allegations listed in that warrant are graphic and disturbing, and tonight, George
00:20is responding through his attorney.
00:22Our senior crime and justice correspondent, Lydia Esparra, has the latest.
00:27There is an arrest warrant issued for Bobby George, the owner of this restaurant, Town
00:32Hall.
00:33In the warrant, it says, Robert T. George is accused of attempted murder and rape.
00:38It includes kidnapping in November of 2023, and the charges stem from incidents allegedly
00:44committed between November of 2023 and July of this year.
00:49The warrant is very explicit, stating, the defendant did purposely or knowing attempt
00:55to cause the death of another by shoving a towel down the victim's throat, and stating,
01:01you think God is going to help you.
01:03It also states, during the course of strangulation, he picked the victim up and slammed her head
01:09multiple times, causing her to have blurred vision, ringing in her ears, and bleeding
01:14from her ears.
01:16She stated to police she was treated by a nurse practitioner employed by George, and
01:20later diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome.
01:23I spoke to George's attorney, Kevin Spellesey, and he says the allegations are false, and
01:29his client has never been questioned regarding these allegations.
01:34These charges, he said, should have never come forward.
01:37George, who owns multiple businesses in Northeast Ohio, more recently offered a $50,000 reward
01:44for the warehouse shooting last summer.
01:46This is about the community, you know, the victims, the victims' families.
01:52It's not about business to me.
01:56Bobby George working with police last summer at the warehouse district, but this summer,
02:02the warrant for Bobby George was issued on Friday.
02:05And Russ, what we're being told by the attorney is that, yes, he is working with him to turn
02:11himself in, but also, regarding the warrant, it says they are asking for a very, very high
02:19bond.
