00:00Of course, we discussed at the top of the show, the Vikings will not have rookie quarterback
00:09J.J. McCarthy for the entire season.
00:12They opened up the knee this morning, complete tear of the meniscus, surgery, finished.
00:17We'll see you next year for J.J.
00:19Here is Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell giving the bad news, Scotty.
00:24An update on J.J. McCarthy.
00:26He did undergo surgery actually this morning on that meniscus.
00:32It was led by our team doctor, Dr. Chris Larson at TCO.
00:35It was a successful procedure, but it did reveal that a repair was necessary, which
00:43will end J.J.'s 2024 season.
00:47That's just unbelievable to me that that's how quick his season ended.
00:53He looked great in his time that he played.
00:57He was slinging it all over the football field, bangs up the knee.
01:02You think you're going to get a break with the meniscus and not the ACL, and the same
01:07thing happens.
01:08He tore it.
01:09They had to repair it, full repair, full year.
01:14He's out.
01:15I think it's devastating news for the Vikings, and I don't believe any of that.
01:21This is the best thing that could have happened for him, that he's getting it fixed and he'll
01:27be back next year.
01:30I don't see any brightness in losing a season, losing a year of your life.
01:36I don't care what anybody says.
01:37You only play for so long in the NFL, and now you've got one knee surgery under your
01:43belt, and you know what usually follows, another one.
01:48It's that simple.
01:50These guys start having bad knees, and then will he be able to take a hit?
01:56It's real simple.
01:57This league is violent, and guys drop like flies, and guys with bad knees don't last.
02:03It's real simple.
02:05He's already got one now.
02:06He never had any problems in high school and college, and now he's already got a problem
02:11in the NFL.
02:12I think it's a real bad day for the Vikings.
02:16It is a real bad day for them.
02:17In fact, they had some other bad things happen too.
02:20Jordan Addison went down holding his leg, of course, one of their wide receivers.
02:24They had to help him off.
02:26They brought the cart out for him.
02:28Now, Kyle said he's okay.
02:30It's not that serious.
02:31I think everyone gets nuts now.
02:32That's the new thing now, right, Scott?
02:33They put everyone on the cart.
02:34You've seen a lot of this the last couple days.
02:38Just because someone goes on the cart, it's not a good thing, but I think there's a big
02:42jump to conclusion when these guys end up on the cart, and sometimes it's not as bad.
02:47That is precautionary.
02:48Correct.
02:49You don't want this guy to limp off or be carried off.
02:52This is the NFL.
02:53They have all this money.
02:54Bring the cart out and bring him back into the room, and don't make him suffer trying
02:58to get off the field.
03:00They're saying it's not bad.
03:01I don't believe them.
03:03I don't believe anything I hear from NFL teams regarding injuries until you hear what he
03:09did.
03:10He had a press conference, and he said he had surgery this morning.
03:13He's done for the year.
03:15That's when there's finality to it.
03:17When they admit that there's injuries, because the rest of the time, they come out with injury
03:22reports, but I don't think they tell the truth about a guy in camp goes down.
03:26Yeah, it's no big deal.
03:28I've heard that neighbor's ankled.
03:30No big deal.
03:31You know what I mean?
03:32Everybody says it's nothing.
03:33I don't believe them.
