00:00Now I wanted to do this video to raise awareness about something that happened to me and my family today
00:07To my little twin my youngest daughter Roma who's been in hospital this afternoon
00:13Because of a thing called febrile convulsions. Now, I've never heard of it before
00:18I've done everything wrong that you shouldn't have done. So I thought I'd do a video
00:24To anyone any mums and dads out there if it happens to you
00:27You know what to do. Now febrile convulsions is when a baby
00:32Overheats. Yeah, when they've got a temperature, our little Roma she had a whooping cough earlier in the year
00:37She's got a little bit of a sore throat still playing about normal still wet nappies drinking loads of water, eating loads of fruit
00:42Went to the park with our family friends today while I was at work with my wife Sinead and other friends and
00:49Sinead went to Sainsbury's
00:52It's sort of early, I think half twelve, one o'clock today and
00:56As she was leaving the park, the Sainsbury's to go into the car park to get into the car
01:02As she got to the car, she noticed that Roma was having a fit, a full-on fit. She was shaking
01:08non-responsive, in a gaze
01:10Eyes rolling back, very red face and she didn't know what to do. Luckily there was a man sitting in his car next to her
01:16she banged on the window and
01:18Two lovely ladies who work in Sainsbury's and a nurse that happened to be shopping there. If you see this video
01:24Thank you very much for making my wife
01:27Feel safe and looking after her
01:30But she rung me. I left my yard. I thought she was going to say are you in the pub yet?
01:35but obviously it weren't that. I flew as quick as I can down to the Sainsbury's in Brentwood and
01:41I panicked. I see my little daughter Roma and she was
01:46Unresponsive, she was crying at this point, but she was like a rag doll, she was completely flopped
01:50So we rung an ambulance. Ambulance said two and a half hours wait
01:55So I said come on, babe. Let's go in the car. I'll just fly down there straight away
01:58So I did drive fast and I've already had a couple messages from people that know me on the way out to Romford
02:04Saying was your car stolen?
02:05Obviously, I thought, honestly I thought my daughter was dying. That's not a lie
02:09I looked over, the aircon on full, trying to cool her down
02:13Trying to keep her awake, which you're not meant to do
02:16Drove like a lunatic, got to Queen's Hospital, got in, see a doctor, and she spent the afternoon there. Now
02:24If your baby's got a little bit of a fever, especially with this hot weather
02:28And this happens to you, yeah?
02:31What you've got to do is you've got to get their temperature down. Lay them on their side
02:36Put their head slightly lower than their body
02:39Damp, cold cloth on their back, get their temperature down because this happens to
02:44This happens to
02:46One or two in a hundred children before they're six years old. Yeah, so it could happen to you
02:52You might never heard of it. I've never heard of it
02:55And the only way to get rid of it is to literally cool them down because babies can't regulate their heating
03:01Don't sweat as much as us and obviously they can't talk and can't tell you
