00:00In the next month of September, we will celebrate Philippine Creative Industries Month
00:05and one of the annual events that will be held is the Manila International Dance Festival
00:12where dancers from all over the country will gather to perform their best performance.
00:18And to talk about it, we have this morning with us, Archie Dumaala,
00:22Ma'am Patricia Barairo and Ms. Hannah Lee.
00:26Good morning and welcome back to Rise and Shine Philippines.
00:29Good morning!
00:31I hope you woke up well.
00:34Yes, we should.
00:36Tell us about the Manila International Dance Festival, Sir Archie.
00:41Yes, so Manila International Dance Festival is basically an annual event that is held in the city of Manila
00:50where various dancers and musicians from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will perform.
00:57What kind of dances will you perform here?
01:01I also heard that there will be other performers from different parts of the country and even abroad.
01:07Tell us more.
01:10For this year, we open up with contemporary and cultural dances.
01:18So, this time, we will present from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
01:24We also have guest artists from other countries.
01:28That's great! I think this is the second Manila International Dance Festival.
01:32Yes, this is the second time.
01:34At the same time, it's bigger now.
01:37How was it? What was the reception? What happened with the first?
01:40And what should we expect for the second MID?
01:43Well, for MIDFEST 2024, because we made it bigger, we will reach more cities.
01:54So, together with us at MIDFEST is the San Jose del Monte Bulacan and Taytay Rizal.
02:02More than that, there are more venues inside the city of Manila.
02:08Well, of course, I understand there are also other activities that we will do.
02:13It's a four-day event.
02:14Maybe you can tell us about it.
02:18It will happen on September 26 to 29.
02:23It's a four-day event.
02:24And as Director Archie said, this year, we will have multiple venues, not just in Manila,
02:31but also in other cities that we partnered with.
02:36So, you can expect that the four-day event will be full of different celebrations of dance
02:42and we have music as well.
02:44So, this will happen simultaneously, just like last year,
02:47where we had a dance festival at the same time.
02:53How many people are expected to come here?
02:56Currently, actually, a lot of people have signified their intention to come.
03:00More than 100.
03:01But we have to trim it down to 20 due to budget constraints.
03:06We have 20 local dance performers and we are working with 5 international.
03:13So, we are working globally.
03:16This will be performing for four days in the different areas.
03:20You said in San Jose and Taytay, where exactly is the performance?
03:25There will be a performance in Taytay, Kalean Park.
03:30And then, in San Jose Del Monte,
03:35their stadium for San Jose Del Monte.
03:38And then, we're working on different venues in Manila.
03:41One of our recent partners is the University of the East.
03:46And then, of course, in Tramuros and Rizal Park,
03:50where the Grand Show will be held.
03:54There.
03:55So, in any case, our RRSP will come here.
03:59So, how are they going to go there?
04:01Do they need to register?
04:02How will the system be here?
04:05The good thing about MidFest,
04:07since it's a big celebration for culture and dance,
04:10our RRSP members are free to celebrate with us.
04:15This is a free event.
04:16This is open for the public.
04:17More than anything else, we wanted to celebrate our Filipino culture
04:22because we invited our international dance groups.
04:25So, we really want everyone to have access to this festival.
04:28So, they can walk in?
04:29They can walk in.
04:30There's no need for registration.
04:31They can just walk in.
04:32Alright.
04:33Archie, you've mentioned about the usual theme of the performances
04:37are more into contemporary and culture.
04:39Why do we have this kind of performances that we need to show?
04:43Because I understand there are different kinds of dances.
04:45And we're pushing this.
04:47Go ahead.
04:48Yes.
04:49So, since this is a festival of traditions and culture,
04:53we are also celebrating the creativity of the Filipinos
04:58since we're aligning it with the celebration of the Philippine Creative Industry Month.
05:03Okay.
05:04More than that,
05:05we also wanted to show our diverse culture through music and dances
05:15that will be presented by the groups here.
05:18There.
05:19With the MID-2023,
05:21we understand that there are people from other countries.
05:23So, how are their experiences?
05:26And the people from the different countries,
05:28do they have their expectations?
05:30What did they mention to you?
05:32What's funny is that this year,
05:35last year, we had more Southeast Asian countries
05:40together with India.
05:42Now, even Russia has signified that they want to join.
05:47We also have one from Morocco.
05:49So, something like that.
05:50We can see that the MIDFest is really expanding.
05:55There.
05:56Well, of course,
05:57we hope that the Manila International Dance Festival in October will be a success.
06:04And on that note,
06:05thank you so much for visiting our program,
06:08Sir Archie Dimaala,
06:09and of course, Ms. Patricia Barairo.
06:11And Ms. Hannity.
06:12Thank you so much.
06:13Thank you so much.
