00:00Coming back to the area after starting on the east side,
00:02what did you guys really like about him in Portland State and where do you see him?
00:05Just his leadership, his energy, his juice, this is so important for him.
00:10And it's a beautiful thing about recruiting kids from the Pacific Northwest.
00:13They understand what Husky football is all about.
00:15And D'Angelo is a prime example of that, he couldn't be more excited to be here.
00:20We're really excited to have him, I think he's gonna be able to have a big role for
00:23us, we'll figure out what that is, but really excited about D'Angelo.
00:28You mentioned you've rebuilt in some ways other places, but
00:31I'm curious of the uniqueness of the situation where there's a group that's
00:35coming off a national championship and then you're bringing in 30, 40 transfers,
00:38and then there's a freshman class.
00:40How unique is this situation and what's the challenge in building cohesion and
00:45building a group that feels like it's one group together?
00:49That's part of what the summer was all about,
00:51is making sure these guys would be cohesive, would be connected.
00:54And it doesn't necessarily just have to be with your calls and
00:58what you're doing on the field and your schemes.
01:00It's having to be close with your brother and playing with the guy next to you and
01:04being able to communicate with him on and off the field.
01:08So it's a tall task, but these kids have been so great about it,
01:13that's what I have to hope is in this process, and
01:15I think they're gonna do fantastic.
01:18It looks different, we went out there in the spring, and
01:20at times we had eight players at the offensive line.
01:24Two of them being high school seniors and they're freshmen here,
01:27kids that just didn't have the time at this level yet.
01:31So now it feels like running out there with 15 to 17 guys that have injuries,
01:36it'll look more normal.
01:38So I'm excited for some normalcy.
01:40We'll break this up.
01:42Do you share Jed's opinion that- Yes.
01:44He basically said that he has no idea what this is gonna look like.
01:51Just because there's so many players coming and there's that age gap where you
01:55have a lot of fifth and sixth year guys and a lot of first and second year guys.
02:00It could be anything.
02:01Do you agree kind of like that?
02:03I think if you try to put a cap on it or try to point your finger at it right now
02:08and say what it's gonna be, you're gonna kind of hamstring yourself.
02:10You're not gonna, you put a cap on it.
02:12And we don't wanna do that to any of these kids.
02:15We don't know what these kids are gonna be able to look like in three or
02:19four weeks.
02:20And so if we kind of make the decision now, we're not gonna get the best out.
02:26So we want to just give these guys a chance to flourish and fly around and
02:29have some fun.
02:30I think they're ready to do so.
02:31So I'm kind of excited about it.
02:34I'm excited about it.
02:35I'm excited about it.
02:36I'm excited about it.
