02:24This monument was made in memory of the policemen who were martyred here.
02:28And we tried our best to give the story of all these things.
02:32And we will also talk to some young people here.
02:36My name is Sivanshu Yadav.
02:38I am from the village of Kherabad, Tola Bhusalwa.
02:40And this is the land of the martyrs of Chauri Chaura on February 4, 1922.
02:45And it is a very sacred land.
02:49The people here were martyred.
02:51But these people who are standing next to the railway station,
02:54we should take inspiration from them.
02:57We should also do something for our country by doing our studies.
03:03And we should learn something good from them.
03:05What is your name?
03:06My name is Chandra Kumar.
03:07I am from the village of Goanad.
03:09Yes, Mr. Chandra.
03:10First of all, Chauri Chaura is a world-famous place.
03:13Such a big event took place.
03:14Such a big movement took place here.
03:15So now, how do you see this?
03:20See, whatever happened here on February 4, 1922,
03:27all the people who were martyred here,
03:30we should take inspiration from them.
03:32We should also learn from them.
03:35We should learn from them.
03:36We should learn from them.
03:37We should learn from them.
03:38We should learn from them.
03:39We should take inspiration from them so that we can do something for our country.
03:45So, you are saying that the way the people of this area
03:49have sacrificed for the country,
03:51we should also learn from that sacrifice
03:53and by getting rid of the feeling of selfishness,
03:55we should encourage the feeling of giving up and doing something for the country.
03:59What is your name?
04:00Mithilesh Paswan.
04:01Mr. Mithilesh, what would you like to say?
04:02You come from this soil,
04:03the soil from which the people of this soil have made great sacrifices for the country.
04:08What would you like to say?
04:09Yes, I don't want to say anything.
04:11Yes.
04:12It is very important that the children study here
04:15and it is very important for us to learn
04:17that the incident that took place in our country,
04:20our soldiers who were martyred here,
04:22we should take inspiration from them and learn from them
04:25so that we can do something good for them.
04:28Because of these people, the government here is developing well.
04:33Is it developing?
04:34Yes.
04:35Has it developed before?
04:36Yes, it is developing.
04:37What is it?
04:38The road has been built on the side and the overbridge has also been passed.
04:41Earlier, there was a lot of difficulty in coming and going here.
04:45Now people have a lot of facilities.
04:47Now people keep coming and going here.
04:49This is the land of our martyrs.
04:52Absolutely.
04:53But has it been taken care of in reality?
04:55No.
04:56It falls in Uttar Pradesh.
04:58It falls in Gorakhpur district.
04:59Our Yogi Adityanath is the CM of Gorakhpur district.
05:04Yes.
05:05And tell me, so many papers are being leaked in UP.
05:08Yes.
05:09Is the URO system being given a chance to enter the system?
05:14The whole system is corrupt.
05:15Yes.
05:16So many papers have been written about the URO and UP police.
05:19Is this the government's doing or not?
05:21Absolutely.
05:22Why is this happening?
05:23If you are saying that the martyrs here have given up their lives for patriotism.
05:29Patriotism was there before.
05:30Yes.
05:31It is still there.
05:32Like our leaders are here.
05:34All the leaders who are becoming leaders here in the present.
05:39Are they really able to understand the patriotic children?
05:42Are they being given a chance?
05:44Patriotism used to be that yes, we are going.
05:46Now the army that was coming from Pudhrup to Agnivir.
05:51Now it has been reduced to four years.
05:54Now what will it do for four years?
05:56Absolutely.
05:57You are ending the age that is there to serve the country.
06:03But what will happen after that?
06:05What will happen to his family?
06:06What will he do after four years?
06:07After that, after coming, is he taking the guarantee of his job?
06:10Is he not taking it?
06:11Now they are saying that secretly.
06:13Has he made any special plan for the people secretly?
06:16What has the government given?
06:17No.
06:18The CM Yogi Adityanath, who lives in Gorakhpur himself,
06:22How many times has he come here?
06:25And how many times has he spoken to the children?
06:27And what has he done for the people here?
06:29Yes, yes, yes.
06:30So you are.
06:31These are students.
06:32They are young.
06:33They have a complaint.
06:34And their complaint is justified somewhere.
06:36They are upset with the student loss due to the paper leak.
06:40They are also upset with the Agnivir immigration scheme that was started.
06:45And their demand is that at least if this is the land of martyrs,
06:49then for the youth here, for the students here,
06:51the government should bring some scheme
06:54which can be beneficial to the youth here.
06:57At the moment, we have with us the head of the department of history
07:01of the Deen Dayalopadhyay Gorakhpur University,
07:03Professor Manoj Kumar Tiwari ji.
07:06And we will talk to him in detail about the Chauri Chaura incident.
07:10Sir, welcome to One India Hindi.
07:13Thank you very much.
07:14And one thing I want to tell you first of all,
07:18that instead of calling it the Chauri Chaura incident,
07:21if it is referred to as the historical incident of Chauri Chaura,
07:25then it will be very good for our nationalists and for the national movement.
07:30Yes, yes.
07:31Sir, the historical incident that you mentioned about Chauri Chaura,
07:36as a historian, please inform the viewers about it.
07:41Sir, I believe that this historical incident of Chauri Chaura
07:46on 4th February 1922,
07:50the first thing that was taught in the earlier books
07:55was that this incident took place on 5th February 1922.
07:58Even historians like Vipan Chandra and all the great historians
08:03refer to that incident as the incident of 5th February 1922.
08:07But when the Chauri Chaura centenary ceremony started,
08:12one and a half years before that,
08:14the History Department of Gorakhpur University
08:17organized a very big seminar on Chauri Chaura,
08:21which was convened by Professor Himanshu Chaturvedi.
08:24And after that, he came up with a proceeding for the Chauri Chaura incident.
08:29And that proceeding was published as a book.
08:32In that, he established that this incident
08:35took place on 4th February 1922, not 5th February 1922.
08:38This was the first thing.
08:39And the second thing that we can say is that
08:42this historical incident of Chauri Chaura
08:45actually filled the minds of the British colonialists
08:51with this fear for the first time
08:53that now the people of India cannot live in fear.
08:57Now the people of India will not stop themselves
09:00from raising their voice because of their fear.
09:04In other words, this Chauri Chaura incident
09:07actually laid the foundation of Indian independence.
09:11In this sense, we can say that this is a historical event.
09:16The Jallianwala Bagh Hathiya Kaand of 1919
09:20was a continuation of the Jallianwala Bagh Hathiya Kaand
09:24that took place on 4th February 1922.
09:28If you read a lot of historical books,
09:32you will find that the leaders of the Jallianwala Bagh Hathiya Kaand
09:39of 1919, who were British leaders,
09:42were rewarded by the British colonialists
09:46with all the privileges and were called the protectors of the British empire.
09:52But the revolutionaries of Chauri Chaura,
09:55the self-employed people of Chauri Chaura,
09:58were forced to commit suicide in order to protect their movement.
10:08After that incident, all the leaders
10:11referred to the revolutionaries of Chauri Chaura
10:14in different negative ways
10:17and called it the crime of Gorakhpur.
10:20This should not have happened.
10:22However, after the Chauri Chaura incident,
10:25a new phase of the national movement began
10:28in which the revolutionary movement was very fast.
10:32Look at the events of 1922, 1924, 1925.
10:35Bhagat Singh, Chandrikha Raja, Batkeshwar Dutt,
10:38all these people started a new phase of the revolutionary movement
10:44and that movement instilled this fear in the British colonialists
10:51that for a long period of time,
10:54India cannot be ruled by the power of the sword.
10:59And that is why we believe that after 1922,
11:03the last phase of the national movement began
11:07which created the foundation of freedom.
