00:00It's early in the preseason, we still have two and a half weeks left to go.
00:09The teams have not played their second games outside of two teams in the NFL in the preseason,
00:13the Hall of Fame game.
00:14How about Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford experiencing hamstring tightness and didn't
00:18finish the practice?
00:19Now, granted, you like to see that where if you feel something in the hamstring, shut
00:23it down, don't fight through it.
00:24I've had a history of hamstring injuries myself, and one of the more quirky hamstring industries
00:29in sports is the wide receiver or the running back because they're built on quick twitch
00:34muscles.
00:35How many times you have to get out?
00:36It's nothing.
00:37Just felt my hamstring grab a little bit.
00:38I'll be back next week only to see that player to be out four or five, six, seven weeks here.
00:42But Matthew Stafford is a competent veteran quarterback that operates from the pocket,
00:47but you still have to be able to dodge some of those elite, talented pass rushers in the
00:52NFL.
00:53If you cannot protect yourself, you're going to end up getting injured worse.
00:56Now, he still has a few weeks to recover for this.
00:58And maybe just as a mild one where he says, you know what, I'm not going to sprint out
01:01left or right.
01:02We're not going to have any naked bootlegs in the pocket where I'm going to have to run
01:0530 yards.
01:06I just need to slide left and right, operate out of the shotgun.
01:10I should be okay.
01:11It's never a good thing because hamstring injuries, if they're not treated appropriately,
01:15meaning getting that rest time and you force your way back, can turn into even longer term
01:20injuries.
01:21So from looking from a Rams perspective here, they're going to need a healthy Matthew Stafford
01:25right out of the gate.
01:26Now the evaluations will come and Sean McVay is going to tell us it's no big deal.
01:30But then again, when's the next time we're going to see Matthew Stafford on the field
01:33and also during these installation practices, which so many times guys you have in training
01:38camp just to getting to know your younger wide receivers and your offensive line and
01:42making those calls.
01:43Once again, you can get all the mental reps you want, but being out there with your teammates
01:48in that huddle, a completely different scenario.
01:51You want to be playing your best football at the end of training camp, not just coming
01:54back to the huddle at the end of training camp.
