PAGASA monitors LPA; ‘habagat’ to affect Northern Luzon

00:00We are continuing to monitor the low-pressure area inside our Philippine Area of Responsibility.

00:06And earlier this morning, at 3 a.m., it was last seen at a distance of 375 kilometers north-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.

00:14The chance of the so-called low-pressure area becoming a typhoon in the next few days remains small.

00:19And we do not expect that its effect will be direct on the other part of our country.

00:26Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon, or Hanging Habagat, continues to be weak and does not affect a large part of our country.

00:33This area of the extreme northern zone is the only area that is affected by this.

00:38We expect that we will experience hot and humid weather again in Metro Manila and a large part of the Philippines.

00:47However, the chances of heavy rains, floods, and thunderstorms are still possible until the evening.

00:56For the next 3-5 days, this Habagat will continue to be weak.

00:59So, this area of the extreme northern zone will be affected.

01:03So, it will not affect a large part of our country.

01:06We expect that the generally fair weather conditions for the next 3-5 days will be hot and humid.

01:12And we expect that the heavy rains and thunderstorms will reach us late afternoon to evening.

01:19And for the next few days, this LPA of the Philippine Area of Responsibility will be possible.

01:26And it will not have a direct effect on any part of our country.

01:31So, there is still a chance of a typhoon in our PAR in the next few days.

01:37And for the weather today in the Luzon area,

01:42the whole Luzon and Metro Manila will continue to experience hot and humid weather.

01:47The chances of thunderstorm activity that we expect in the areas of Batanes and Baboyan Islands are higher

01:53because these are the areas that are affected by the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.

01:58For the remaining part of Luzon, the weather that we expect is the same.

02:02We expect that it will be partly cloudy to partly cloudy.

02:05We expect that it will be accompanied by heavy rains,

02:08thunderstorms, usually, it will reach us from afternoon to evening.

02:14Since the weather we expect is hot and humid,

02:18we should take the necessary precautions if the weather is hot.

02:25We should drink plenty of water, stay hydrated,

02:29avoid outdoor activities if not necessary,

02:34wear light-colored clothes and stay in well-ventilated areas

02:39to avoid the risk of heatstroke to our body.

02:44The maximum temperature forecast for the area today is possible to reach 32 degrees Celsius,

02:5024 degrees in Baguio City and 34 degrees Celsius in Tagagarao.

02:55The maximum temperature forecast for Metro Manila today is possible to reach 34 degrees Celsius,

03:0132 degrees in Tagaytay and 33 degrees Celsius in Legazpi City.

03:08In the areas of Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao,

03:12generally fair weather conditions will continue throughout the day in most of the mentioned areas.

03:17However, there are still chances of light and sudden rainfall

03:23that will be accompanied by thunderstorms from afternoon to evening.

03:26So, as early as this afternoon, thunderstorm clouds are likely to form.

03:30The rainfall that will be brought by these storms will reach us late afternoon to evening.

03:36So, it's better to bring an umbrella.

03:38Remove it in the heat of the day or in the morning

03:41and remove it in the rain when it reaches us late afternoon to evening.

03:45The maximum temperature forecast for Kalayaan Islands today is possible to reach 33 degrees Celsius,

03:5132 degrees in Puerto Princesa and 33 degrees Celsius in Iloilo and Cebu.

03:59The maximum temperature forecast for the areas of Tacloban and Cagayan de Oro today is possible to reach 32 degrees Celsius,

04:0734 degrees in Davao and 33 degrees Celsius in Zamboanga.

04:13As for the condition of our ocean, there is still no gale warning in any of the islands

04:18and it is expected that the waves will be moderate to maximum in most of our country.

04:24However, our fellow fishermen should still be careful

04:28because if we have offshore thunderstorm activity,

04:31these are the rains that are close to our sea.

04:33It is expected that there will be strong winds,

04:37which will change the upper part of our waves.
