00:00Johnston come out unchanged for the second half, he's been pretty happy with what he's seen from his side in the opening exchanges
00:20All three meetings between the sides last season without conceding as well
00:30A repeat of the 1998-99 League Cup final but the last time they met in this competition, 2015, St Johnston were 3-1 winners
00:39And Ibrox, Murray Davidson, Simon Lapin, Michael Halloran all on the score sheet along with a late consolation from James Tavernier
00:53Graeme Kerry gets us back underway for the second half
00:58Remember the three ties, tomorrow will feature six premiership sides
01:05APPLAUSE
01:26Raymond with the throw
01:35André Raymond is leaving this to Dre Wright to come over and allowing Jack Sanders and Lewis Nielsen and Kyle Cameron all to head into the box
01:59Wright's throw
02:00Swerving away from everyone, it will come to the edge of the box and Matt Smith's volley is well over the top
02:12It never looked like it was going to be troubling the goal because he was just stretching, leaning back
02:18All the big men going up for that long throw but it ends up being just the second ball on the edge of the box where St Johnston were able to try and cause a problem
02:32Do you think either manager would have been looking to change much from that first half?
02:38I think the Rangers, they want to try and get a bit more intensity in their game, it just feels a little bit flat, a wee bit slow
02:46Now, Desser's coming on at the park for Danilo, I don't think that's going to change too much in that regard
02:57Certainly you want to try and get the players speeding up the play because for St Johnston, they've got their system of how they're looking to play and they look fairly comfortable in that
03:11It's up to Rangers to try and disrupt and break them open and show just greater energy in their performance
03:19It's Kieran Dowell, clips the heels of Mohamed Diomonde but now Rabih Matondo can take over
03:27Out-muscled, out-powered by Jack Sanders
03:32That's good defending there from Jack Sanders, up against some real pace in Rabih Matondo but dealt with the situation comfortably
03:43I know that Rangers have obviously, they've got the ball into some good areas but they've not really been able to trouble the goalkeeper Ray as much as they would have wanted
03:54But for large parts of it, you've got to say St Johnston would be quite happy in the way that they've been able to play this game
04:04And certainly for the guys at the top end of the park, they have looked like they're capable of causing a problem and being a threat
04:11You've obviously got to be very mindful of that threat at the top end of the park while they're trying to press and push forward and get an opening goal in the game
04:25McPherson, he's missed out the ball to right
04:29Matondo was fouled by Carey, it was a bit late coming in from the Irishman
04:41Carey's proclaiming his innocence
04:45Definitely think there's just been a wee bit of a shift in the St Johnston set-up
05:02It's like Smith's, you know
05:04Shift his ball in
05:07I was just going to say, he looks far more predominantly playing on that right hand side, well likewise over on the left
05:13Kimpioka, just a bit more pronounced
05:17Matondo, just slipped under the hood of Cherney, he's looked to win it back from Andre Raymond
05:23He's done well to keep that in play for James Tavenier
05:27John Souter strides into the space, sliding in Adama Sidibe
05:38Souter, just taking his time to get back up
05:46Rangers have already lost Robin Cropper
05:51Balogun is also out with an injury
05:54I was just going to say, it's certainly not what Philippe Coulombe wants to see
05:58Players going into a tackle and taking their time to get up
06:03They can ill afford to be losing anyone else
06:06Because when you look at the matchday squad today
06:10It looks as red-bare as it is, and we're only at the start of the season
06:16It's not as if it's deep into a campaign where you're expecting to be picking up a couple of injuries
06:24Now Sidibe
06:27Does well against Davies
06:31Here comes Sterling to make the challenge
06:34You can still see John Souter
06:37Just before that, he was having a bit of a grimace and a stretch
06:43Just to try and run off this injury
06:46He doesn't look overly comfortable, it's just the outside of his left knee
06:54Right, swung in by Nielsen
06:58Davies that leaps highest, given away by Dessers
07:02Right, now to Carey
07:05Couple to aim for in the middle for Graham Carey
07:08Misses the first, finds Sidibe who tries to link it
07:11Now Dre Wright, smashes that one off Sterling
07:14Kempioka
07:17Tavenier, matches up to him but at the concession of a corner
07:42Cammy McPherson goes short, Graham Carey
07:46Back with McPherson, he's got a free run into the penalty area
07:50Couldn't get it beyond Tavenier though, he's coming back at Rangers
07:54Raymond and Carey to Kempioka
07:58Who just couldn't quite bring it under his control
08:02Well a good spell from St Johnston
08:05Kempioka not able to get the ball under control when it was played into him there
08:09But Rangers just struggling to be able to string a few passes together
08:13And get themselves out
08:16Allowing St Johnston to build an attack after attack
08:25It definitely just feels flat for Rangers
08:29They need to try and get some intensity into this performance
08:33Chieftain trying to do just that
08:35This pass blocked off by Jack Sanders
08:38That's exactly right Rory, just moments like that
08:41Play quicker, get the ball forward into the front areas faster
08:45Matondo comes back to
08:48Robbie Matondo unleashes
08:51Josh Ray saves with his feet
08:54And Tavenier
08:56Couldn't get the ball back to the Welsh winger
08:59Another big save from Josh Ray
09:06That previous attack just burst into life
09:10Matondo
09:12Ball comes back to him, one touch, two
09:14Out his feet
09:16Just hits it straight at the goalkeeper
09:18If that's either side then you'd imagine that
09:21Ray's got no chance
09:23There's plenty of pace on it but it's right at the goalkeeper
09:27It's a good opportunity, you're only talking about
09:31Roughly 18 yards out from goal
09:34Middle of the park
09:41And then to Nielsen now
09:43Sidibe and Kimpioka
09:45Won't quite catch up with that one
09:58Rangers have made two substitutions with
10:01Cyril Dexters and Ben Davies coming on
10:04And leaves them as outfield options only
10:07Connor Barron, Leon King, Ross McCollison, Robbie Fraser, Cole McKinnon and Bailey Rice
10:17That's left Cherney
10:19James Tavenier back to Cherney
10:22Oh he eyed up that far corner
10:25He just didn't quite get the spin of the ball to guide it in off the post
10:30You've got to say that's much better from Rangers
10:33Link up play, driving forward
10:35Lovely little reverse ball there from Tavenier
10:38You can see ever so close from Cherney
10:42Just uses the defender there
10:45It's Jack Sanders, he's just trying to bend it round him into that far corner
10:49Use him as a block on the goalkeeper but
10:52Past the post, but much better play there from Rangers
11:00Jamonde
11:05Again looks for Cherney
11:08Was he clipped by Raymond
11:11Well the yellow card is given to
11:15Andre Raymond
11:17And it was just outside the box I believe
11:21Well I mean look, I think it's quite clear that there's
11:25Coming together there
11:28For me I don't think that's a yellow card, you give the free kick
11:31You can see he catches his heels there
11:35He's so quick to come and pull the yellow card out there
11:38His knee catches his heels, yes it's a free kick
11:41Credit to Cherney because I think he could have fallen on the ground pretty easily
11:47It was quite bizarre for the referee the way that he
11:51Came over and he was brandishing the yellow card before he'd even given a free kick really
11:57Connor Barron will be coming on shortly
12:00Rangers have an opportunity here
12:02To try and break the deadlock
12:05The last couple of attacks have been far better from Rangers
12:08They've played the ball quicker in the midfield
12:10Less touches on the ball
12:12Quicker with their passing
12:14Playing forward
12:15Gives the front players a better opportunity to break through the defence
12:21We understand Kieran Dowell will be the man to make way for Connor Barron
12:28Tavernier and Cherney over it
12:36Tavernier leaves it for Cherney, looks to go low underneath the wall
12:41Which comfortably did its job
12:49Suter who's still forward, Chifty
12:53Loses out to Sedibe, that's some great ball winning
12:56But he's then given it away just as quickly as he wanted back
13:00Now Dessers and the free kick will go against Dessers
13:04Who rifles the ball into the net
13:06He doesn't know yet, he's going to turn round
13:10And disappointment for Cyril Dessers and the inquest for Philippe Clermont
13:15But the free kick had already been awarded
13:18Something's quite bizarre here, I don't think the referee actually does give the free kick
13:22He almost waits for Dessers to score the goal
13:26You see here, it's like he's ready to do it
13:30And he waits, I was watching him
13:33Waits for the striker to put the ball in the back of the net
13:42Perhaps he sees that Dessers has nudged Sanders out of the way
13:50There is a chat going on with VAR
13:53And I guess that explains the reason why wait and not give the decision
13:57Because if it's a free kick, it's a free kick, it's not offside
14:01If you see a free kick, you don't wait for the game to be played on
14:04And it actually looks like Sanders stands on Dessers
14:08If you see a free kick, you don't let the game play on
14:11It's not offside, it's a free kick
14:14And I think he's actually got it wrong
14:17Because it looks there to me as if Sanders steps on Dessers
14:20Now he might be able to get himself out of this situation here
14:23But that's not, as far as I'm concerned, the way that the referee should have been officiating that moment
14:29Well Greg Aitken and Alan Mulvaney are on VAR
14:36And in conversation with Matthew McDermott
14:42And I'm pretty sure that it wasn't offside when you saw the replay there
14:48And it certainly wasn't an offside that was given either
14:52This is a mistake from the officials that they're obviously trying to rectify
14:58Bizarre
15:00Either way, one dugout is not going to be happy at all
15:10Well this is going to go to a review
15:13An on-field review
15:16Matthew McDermott to be called over to have a look at this
15:19I've got to say, this is bizarre
15:23If you see a free kick, you don't wait to allow the game to be played out
15:29A free kick, then you blow your whistle
15:32You don't wait
15:45You know, I'm talking about here an attacking player fouling a defender
15:50You don't wait for the game to play on
15:53And this should be a goal
15:56This should be a goal, because Destos hasn't fouled the defender
16:00If the referee saw it that way, he should have blown his whistle
16:07So the offside has been checked, they're happy with that
16:10But now, Matthew McDermott to come over
16:14And signal his decision here
16:19It's to award the goal to Rangers
16:23And Serial Dexers up the bench
16:26To celebrate on the armour
16:28There's a yellow card being waved towards Matthew McDermott
16:32That went to Matt Smith
16:34But St Johnston will be absolutely furious at this
16:38As Rangers celebrate their goal there in front
16:41But the way that it's come about
16:44Is a mistake from the officials
16:46As far as I'm concerned, you can understand
16:49Why the St Johnston players are unhappy in their myth
16:52But effectively, it is the right decision
16:55Serial Dexers did not foul Jack Sanders
16:58And the goal should have been allowed
17:00If the referee had just kept his whistle in his mouth the whole time
17:04And never given the foul, correct, goal
17:07That's the right decision, but the referee's made a mess of it
17:11And the VAR officials have tried to give him a get out
17:15But I don't feel as if that was the right sequence of events
17:23But certainly, the goal from Dexers was good
17:28He did not foul the defender
17:34So Dexers third goal of the season, it's a big one
17:37The inquest goes on from St Johnston's point of view
17:41But Rangers have the lead
17:43They've made that change in the middle of the park
17:45To bring Conor Barron on and Kieran Dowell off
17:55You know, I'm trying to remember back
17:59And I think it was a game here
18:02With Celtic and Aberdeen
18:08When there was a penalty that should have been given
18:11But they then pulled it back
18:13And they pulled it back for somebody who had committed a foul
18:19Previous to it
18:21Well John Suter is down again
18:29Different pain on this occasion
18:32Took one to the face there
18:35And the point I was making is that
18:38The penalty kick wasn't given because they pulled it back for a foul
18:41By the attacking player
18:42But they had allowed the game to play on
18:45Well VAR is having a little check
18:49But the check is complete for a potential red card
18:52For that challenge that saw John Suter go down
18:58It's a little bit of a penalty
19:03It's Adama Sidibe challenging with it
19:22Suter and up to Dessers
19:27Tavenier, Dessers, Cherney again
19:37It's so bizarre you're trying to think this through logically
19:42You don't play advantage to an attacking player if he has committed a foul
19:46Which is effectively what's happened there
19:49He thinks that the attacker had committed a foul
19:51Which he blew for in the end
19:53But he played advantage
19:55It's not how you would play
19:57It's scary
19:59I appreciate that but essentially by playing the advantage
20:02It has come out to the right conclusion
20:05Yeah it has
20:14It's Diamondate
20:18Now Suter for Barrett
20:19It's just a rather bizarre way for it to come around
20:26There's an opportunity for Rangers to kick on now
20:32Dessers to Diamondate
20:35Now Cherney
20:38Tavenier, he's got Dessers at the back post
20:40Sanders, left well
20:45I suppose the challenge for St Johnston is now to
20:48How did they react?
20:50Did they open up a little bit more?
20:52Or did they continue to play as they have been?
20:55And they have that threat on the counter
20:59Just try to keep the game as tight as possible for as long as they can
21:02And hope that they can catch Rangers on the counter attack
21:07It's Diamondate
21:13Matondo
21:15Just over 23,000 inside Hampden Park
21:20I just had a little check last season when Rangers played
21:23Great Morton at this stage of the competition
21:28At Ibrox Stadium there were just under 39,000 at that game
21:37Well I think that just obviously feeds into what you were saying earlier on
21:40This game being at Ibrox you would have expected
21:43A far bigger crowd to have been there
21:46It would be interesting with the new
21:49Appointments within Scottish football of
21:52VAR manager and former
21:55English Premier League referee John Moss
22:00Where's Matondo? Gets the free kick
22:03He's got it
22:05He's got it
22:07He's got it
22:09He's got it
22:11He's got it
22:13He's got it
22:15There's Matondo, gets the wrong side of right
22:19He does get back in to knock it out for a corner
22:29Well it's happened quite a few times in the game where
22:32Rangers have just looked to go a little bit more direct with the pace that they've got
22:36To try and stretch the opposition
22:39Drew Wright didn't deal with it particularly well
22:42Matondo has got pace to burn
22:45You really want to try and utilise that like they were doing there
22:48And stretch the game
22:55Tavernier to take
22:57Comes to the back post
23:00And it was Davies
23:02Who got a strong connection on that
23:05St Johnson survive and now look to hit Adama Sidibe
23:10Conavanan timed that perfectly
23:16Yeah he really did didn't he
23:18Maturity shown by the 21 year old
23:28Didn't work out for Sidibe that time
23:32Dessers
23:35Now Matondo with a bit of space to run into
23:38Wright desperately trying to get back
23:41Robbie Matondo cuts back in on the right
23:43Now Dessers
23:45Matondo with space
23:47Just couldn't apply the finish
23:50That's another save from Josh Ray
23:53To deny Robbie Matondo
23:55St Johnson hanging on in the Premier Sports Cup
23:58Yeah they really are
24:00Matondo
24:03Good link up there with Dessers
24:06Gets the shot on target but it's another one of those that's just too close to the goalkeeper
24:18But listen for the timing of the whistle here
24:26Yep
24:27So as long as the whistle is after the ball goes into the back of the net then
24:31St Johnson can't really have any
24:33Yeah but
24:35I mean look
24:36The right decision in the end but the referee's made a mistake
24:39For example
24:40St Johnson's just got a free kick there because
24:43Cherney filled the
24:45St Johnson defender
24:47If you were using the same logic you would have allowed the game to continue
24:52But you don't when there's a foul committed you blow out the whistle
25:01Come on
25:07Emerson
25:10Kyle Cameron
25:15And Kim Pjoka
25:26Approaching the final 20 minutes
25:29at Hampden Park
25:34The main on the south side of Glasgow
25:39Curie, pummeled over by Dessers
25:59Curie's ball in
26:14Smith no pre-kick for St Johnston and Gempte
26:19Spreads the play and Cherney's in acres of space down the right hand side for Rangers
26:24Diamonde making good ground up into the middle and down comes Diamonde
26:29But what an effort he made to try and get on the end of Cherney's ball in
26:42That's good, good defending there from Jack Sanders at the near post because
26:47they were caught open, number of Rangers players bursting in
26:50Diamonde at the near post as well and the defenders come across and made a really important block
26:59Right and will skip off the wet surface
27:04Don't think Sidibe and Kimpioka have been as much a threat in this second half, they've not really offered a great deal
27:19James Tavenier
27:22to Dessers
27:25Cherney
27:26and Dessers can't quite
27:29get the ball to stick
27:38Oh you can see there, those are the actions of Matthew McDermott
27:42clearly pointing to the foul but he did delay it until the ball
27:46was put in the net, allowing for the possibility of BAR to intervene
27:52It's not how you referee and roll it
27:55He's got away with one
27:57Flicked on by right, Sidibe, good hits, good strike and
28:03Jack Butland takes no chances, tips it over the bar
28:08Well just saying that they've not really been as threatening in the second half
28:11but here's one of the few moments
28:14when Sidibe is able to hit the target
28:16Jack Butland having to put it over the crossbar, very comfortable for the goalkeeper but
28:22it's a corner kick for St Johnston, an opportunity to get the big men up from the back
28:32So again Kerry
28:34will take this
28:36St Johnston curling delivery, Suter wins the header
28:40Smith
28:41come back to Kerry with
28:43maybe a better angle but
28:45Ben Davies this time first to it, Trey Wright
28:48drops that only to Mahamed Diabande and
28:51Veslav Cerny
28:54will pick up the ball in space
28:58trying to buy some time for his teammates but that allows Cammy McPherson to
29:03win it back for St Johnston
29:04Raymond's back to
29:06Cameron
29:10Now the question's on
29:12St Johnston to see
29:15if they can find a leveller in the final
29:2017 minutes or so that they've got
29:23and
29:25it's a goal
29:27for St Johnston
29:28if they can find a leveller in the final
29:3217 minutes or so that remain of
29:35this cup tie, it's Kempioka tries to slip that through to
29:38Sidibe who does get there first
29:41and it comes off the striker
29:42and eventually the flag does go up
29:47That's a good opportunity there
29:49Kempioka wasn't the best ball through
29:53for Sidibe
29:55as he's just drifted offside anyway
29:59I'm surprised that he tried to up the strike
30:01and go past the goalkeeper
30:03I thought he would have maybe tried to get control and turn away
30:07No change coming from
30:09Craig Levine
30:10and Cammy McPherson makes way
30:13It'll be
30:14McKenzie Kirk
30:16who comes on
30:17striker
30:1820 year old
30:20sign from Hearts
30:24son of
30:25Andy
30:28scored
30:29previously in his career for both Hearts
30:31and in Furman against Rangers
30:34brother Corey's at Livingston
30:44Well Sidibe looked to be held back there
30:47I've got to say John Stewart's got away with one there
30:51Looked like he had two hands round Sidibe
30:53But Butler's clearance
30:54goes straight to Lewis Nilsen who
30:57just has a bit of an extra flow of adrenaline
31:00as he strikes that
31:19Tavernier
31:20for Suter
31:23Kempioka
31:24chasing down Butler's clearance
31:28Forward comes Cameron
31:29lovely first touch
31:40There's confirmation of
31:41Matt Smith's yellow card for
31:45his descent at the award of the goal
31:55Goal
32:12Towards Dessers
32:13Dennis
32:14Tavernier
32:15gets in front
32:16It's not a great ball from Matondo
32:18the space is there for Dessers to run in on goal
32:20and he plays the ball short
32:21and allows the defender to be able to nick it and get it
32:27Kempioka
32:28away from Tavernier
32:29he's looking to free up the space for the shots
32:37Now Smith
32:38plenty to aim at but
32:39it's not the ball that will find him
32:45and he had time
32:47Shefty was
32:48very slow in trying to come out and shut
32:51Smith down
33:13I think Connor Barron's made a difference
33:15since he's come on
33:16Keane and Dowell
33:18the game just seemed to
33:19drift
33:20by him
33:21a little bit too easily
33:23Barron's come on
33:24he's playing a lot deeper
33:25you know and
33:26picking the ball up
33:27but at least he's getting the game started
33:28and
33:29trying to speed it up
33:32he's been involved a lot more than Dowell was
33:35It's on goal
33:36Shefty
33:37with a keep ball
33:41Sterling for Barron
33:43Suter
33:44can step forward
33:48Czerny
33:49and Suter will continue his run into the box
33:52Czerny
33:54loses it a little too easily
33:56Kempioka
33:59good battle with Tavernier
34:00and it's Kempioka that wins it now
34:02Matt Smith
34:03and he had options
34:05Mackenzie Kirk
34:06was wide to the right hand side
34:08Well that's good play from Connor Barron again
34:10Look he recognises the danger
34:12his captain's been
34:13beaten in the 1v1
34:14he drops back in and fills out
34:17the right back area
34:18making sure that Kempioka can't go driving into that space
34:23Czerny with another chance
34:25looking to go around Raymond
34:27but
34:28it's good defending
34:29by the Trinidadian
34:40Ross McCausland
34:41will be coming on shortly
34:44started both the games against
34:46Dean Wilkiew
34:47that's
34:50that's the one
34:51substitute appearance
34:52domestically
34:59I understand it will be Václav Czerny to come off
35:01just as he
35:02swings in this corner
35:03almost connected with Davies
35:06and he's got it
35:07in this corner
35:08almost connected with Davies
35:10Suter
35:11a look at it too
35:12on the way past
35:13now comes to
35:14Matondo
35:17clearance for
35:18Jack Sanders
35:20Smith now
35:25Jifty
35:26tight at the back
35:33almost into the last
35:3510 minutes
35:38no
35:46Czerny
35:47Sterling
35:51Suter
35:56Jifty and
35:57Barron
35:59brought a calmness to Rangers possession
36:05Matondo
36:07he's also brought a purpose to
36:09Rory
36:11before he just felt a little bit aimless
36:15he's come on
36:16he's
36:17wanted the ball
36:18he's quickened things up
36:20definitely made an improvement
36:26Robbie Fraser
36:28also
36:30big readied
36:3721 year old
36:38to make his
36:39third appearance for Rangers
36:43against Dundee and Hearts
36:45the final two games of last season
36:47he's a left back so
36:50their standing is that
36:51it'll be Robbie Matondo to come off
36:53which may allow Jifty to
36:55be more advanced
36:58well read by Tavernier
37:00Czerny
37:03now Rangers stride forward
37:05Sterling
37:07it's a loose pass to
37:09try to find Robbie Matondo
37:12yeah it really was a loose ball there
37:13from Sterling
37:18just that final ball yet again
37:20letting Rangers down
37:24it's a double change
37:26you'll see Vaclav Czerny
37:28head off to be replaced by
37:29Ross McCausland
37:31and then the further confirmation
37:33that it's Robbie Matondo to make way
37:34for Robbie Fraser
37:37once these two
37:39changes are complete
37:41St Johnson will
37:42make one of their own
37:46and it will see
37:47Matt Smith
37:48head off to be replaced by
37:49Nicky Clarke
37:50former Rangers player
37:52made over 100 appearances
37:53for the club
37:57and it will be
37:58Matt Smith
37:59head off to be replaced by
38:00Nicky Clarke
38:01former Rangers player
38:02made over 100 appearances
38:03for the club
38:07and it will be
38:08Matt Smith
38:09head off to be replaced by
38:10Robbie Fraser
38:12he's coming back
38:14to fitness Nicky Clarke
38:15has only played 9 minutes in the
38:17two league games so far
38:18but he did play
38:19for an hour in the
38:21Challenge Cup
38:23at East Fife in midweek
38:34just over 7 minutes left now
38:35for Rangers to try
38:37to
38:39see this one out
38:40and book their place
38:41in the
38:43Premier Sports Cup
38:44quarter finals
38:46and Jeff Day
38:47who is remaining
38:48a left back
38:52with Robbie Fraser
38:53playing further up the park
39:05Kipioka
39:06from the right hand side
39:11Kerry for Kirk
39:13Raymond to deliver
39:14and there's
39:15three in the middle there
39:16for St Johnston
39:18Fraser
39:20didn't quite get all of that
39:21in the clearance
39:23for Kerry
39:24now Robbie Fraser
39:26looks to deliver
39:27one for McCausland
39:28the Dessers
39:29and
39:30Sanders
39:32clashed and
39:33it's the Rangers
39:34front man who's
39:35remained down
39:36now just
39:37hobbling back
39:38to his feet
39:39holding the
39:40back of the
39:41back of the
39:42back of the

39:48back of the
39:49back of the
39:50back of the
39:51back of the
39:52back of the
39:53back of the
40:12right with the
40:13long ball
40:14looking for
40:15Sadibe
40:18Barrett bumps up
40:19and now
40:20Shifty, Baran again, it's really steady things for Rangers in the middle of the park
40:35Sterling
40:38Fraser, lovely touch and Sterling continues waits for Fraser to get involved again
40:46the heart of this move and it's for Dexers, well that from Fraser deserved the finish
40:53with wonderful setup play from the 21 year old. Sterling's gone down as well looks like he's
40:58holding his hamstring this is real bad news for Rangers another player but good play link up from
41:06Fraser and Sterling good to see Fraser getting back up and support to Sterling and then this
41:12is a really good ball he picks Dexers out just can't wrap his foot around it enough
41:20Rangers have made all their substitutions so
41:23Sterling I don't have to come off and leave him with 10 men or soldier on if he is able to but
41:33having already lost Robin Proper to an injury earlier there will be some concern for
41:41Philippe Clement here
41:46maybe just hoping that it's a wee bit of cramp perhaps but you've got to wonder whether
41:54it's a risk that they're going to take
41:57it's not an easy one obviously as you said with all the substitutions that have been made
42:02just sitting at one nil a few minutes left
42:06it's Robin Proper looking on from the dugout when he started the game as centre-back
42:14Sterling is back and taking his place in the middle of the park
42:20on the ball now
42:20it's good play from Soutar stepping into the game driving forward
42:48see there he catches him on the the left ankle
43:03here's McCausland
43:06looks for Dexers again will come to the edge for Diamonde and now Fraser
43:12Fraser in the end it's comfortable for Josh Ray for an opportunity
43:28Sidibe managing to keep it in play and he
43:31was expecting the strike partner Kimpioka to be closer to the action
43:42McCausland now
43:53there's Sterling McCausland back to Sterling again
44:01Barron
44:06eight touches from Rangers and running the clock down as they
44:10starve St. John's and off the ball until the loose one from
44:15Dujon Sterling and apologies from Connor Barron has launched that one into the north stand
44:31so Michael an opportunity for you to name your premier sports cup player of the match
44:40yeah well the stadium announcer just got in there in front of me man at the top end of the park
44:46Cyril Dexers he's got what looks like could be the match winning goal he's my man of the match
44:51in a game that's really lacked that final piece of the jigsaw for for Rangers Dexers has managed
44:59to so far look like he's going to be the difference in this game
45:08I've got to say that Connor Barron he has he's made a big big impact since he's come on he's
45:14picked up really good space you can see in the middle of the park as well here he is right there
45:20he had loads of space he's done that the whole game since he's come on that's a great touch
45:25from McCausland who looks to finish it but it's another save from Josh Ray he's been kept busy in
45:31this second half you see Sterling a good day a good pick out just over Raymond's head he takes
45:39it in here it's a tough angle you can see Dexers has pulled to the towards the penalty spot maybe
45:45could have pulled that back for the striker but the goalkeeper puts it behind for the corner
45:51eight additional minutes
46:05well could there be more
46:10to this game than a simple see you at the last few minutes 1-0
46:14so
46:28he will leave it for his goalkeeper as they want to launch one deep into the rangers half here
46:36so
46:45all six of their games so far this season
46:50not so yet Raymond with the outside of the boot Dexers didn't get all of it and Sidibe is there
46:56and he knocks it wide
46:58and what a chance to square the tie and to keep St Johnston in the premier sports cup
47:06well it's a big error from Cyril Dexers to begin with he just fluffs it does he get back in and put
47:13enough pressure on Sidibe Jack Butlin's coming flying out as well just looks like he fluffs
47:22these lines there Rory doesn't get any real contact or proper contact on it huge opportunity
47:30there exactly the man that Craig Lapid would have wanted that to fall to Dexers now leaves it for
47:35McCausland to finish it what a can finish from Ross McCausland
47:43to take Rangers into the quarterfinals of the premier sports cup a late goal to secure it
47:52to ease any anxiety just moments after Sidibe had the huge chance at the other end
47:58you can see here as Dre Wright's putting them all on side lovely finish from Ross McCausland
48:05but yep up one end when it potentially could have been going 1-1
48:09game's over that's a lovely finish from McCausland just dinks it over
48:14Josh Wray you see the goalkeepers desperately hoping that he's going to be offside but he's not
48:20the right back Dre Wright playing them all on side 2-0 game over
48:27the fifth goal for the man from Antrim and Rangers safely into the quarterfinals it's
48:34not been the most straightforward of ties but all that matters is that the holders
48:42remain in the competition and go into the hat for quarterfinals draw
48:50how the game just shifts in such a short space of time there Sidibe
48:58wonderful opportunity to level the game and
49:01fluffs his lines and then it goes up the other end and the final nail in the coffin for St Johnston
49:08McCausland and Diamonde combining really nicely Northern Irishman with the ball in but deflected
49:20so
49:32and that one drifted out Kyle Cameron
49:50so
50:06Davies
50:20so
50:37collision there between Diamonde and Carey McCausland look for surreal desserts
50:44and Raymond field to Sidibe again and Souter in control
50:57Baron McCausland
51:03now Souter was down under pressure from Adama Sidibe
51:08well what's the referee going to do there's been a couple of those incidents
51:14in the game so far Sidibe had one on Souter himself only a few minutes ago
51:20i think the right decision there not to brandish a second yellow card
51:24so
51:42play on as it drops for Diamonde
51:47Baron and McCausland linked up nicely
51:51now Tavernier he loses it to Cameron and St Johnston look to break through Sidibe a few
51:58appeals for offside and now the flag goes up
52:03goes up
52:18Rangers have their fourth
