00:08Me to you.
00:09To you.
00:10Thank you very much.

00:32Bye.
00:33Thank you very much.
00:34Back to you.
00:36No.
00:37We are here, in resplendent sunshine, to talk about the new Maxis T90.
00:52So tell me Harrison, what is this beast?
01:02This is the new Maxxis T90, the first ever electric pick-up truck on UK roads.
01:06I picked it up this morning from Rivervale down in Port Slade, I'm having the time of
01:11my life with it.
01:12It's like, I've never driven a car like it, obviously I'm a tall guy, and I'm always crammed
01:16into cars that don't fit me, so once I'm in something like this, I think I've found my
01:20future car.
01:22Well you've got your future car, and your future trade, I mean you could be anything
01:24from a welder, to a pipe fitter, to I'd say an architect, I mean this car kind of transcends
01:31class.
01:32This reminds me of the old fashioned Toyota Hilux, and actually my dad had a Toyota Hilux,
01:38one of the greatest pick-up trucks ever made, I think probably one of the most prolific
01:42pick-up trucks, probably beats the Land Cruiser and the Land Rover into first place in terms
01:46of the most incredibly versatile vehicle.
01:49You'll have to excuse the noise of the dumper truck, but us two geezers are on site.
01:52We're on site, it's what do you expect, when you've got a car like this, the noise just
01:56follows you with it, but this drives in silence compared to the other ones.
02:00That's it, that's what I love about it, and I love it's got a vehicle to load.
02:03Well that's what makes it so useful, Max has realised that this car's going to be on site
02:08all day, it's got a 90 kilowatt hour battery pack, let's charge people's tools from it.
02:14So in the back of the car, I can plug in a drill, and I can have it charging on site
02:17with no power.
02:18I mean how clever is that?
02:19The only downside is they forgot to change the plug from a Chinese plug to a UK plug.
02:24So I've got an adapter, but I can now charge the drill batteries, I can charge anything,
02:29I can power everything off the car's 90 kilowatt hour battery pack, which is incredible.
02:34You know, you can't do that with a normal, you'd normally be taking a petrol diesel generator
02:38along with you, but you're just completely unplugged from the grid.
02:41So you are avoiding Euless, you're avoiding all those nasty charges to drive into a city
02:46centre, you're taking your tools with you, you're actually coming prepared, and you can
02:51charge the tools, you can arrive in style, you can be not burning any fossil fuel whatsoever,
02:58and if you're clever and use something like 3Ti solar, you can power it by sunshine.
03:02And today would have been a bumper choice.
03:04It would, and that is the biggest thing, the cost saving.
03:06So this starts at 49,950, so call it 50 grand, and you'll have no fuel to pay on it, you
03:12can charge it really cheap overnight on an Octopus Go tariff, no road tax, you won't
03:18have to pay for any, like you said, any congestion zone, any congestion charge, so if you are
03:22working in London and you need this sort of big vehicle, why would you go for anything
03:26other than this?
03:27Five seater, air conditioning, cruise control, reversing camera, great audio system, Apple
03:33CarPlay, Android CarPlay, it's got it all.
03:36The quality of this, the vegan leather, the upholstery feel, the finish, it's got red
03:42sports stitching all around the seats, it is like you're in a really premium car.
03:46Well it's Mercedes do a very nice five seater pickup, but you're looking at 70, 80,000 pound
03:52for that variant, and it burns fuel like no tomorrow, so this is amazing, and I'm so pleased
03:59they've had the cojones to actually bring it to the UK and market it, because it's the
04:03only one in the UK.
04:05That's it, I mean you've got the Cybertruck, Tesla Cybertruck, which is coming to the UK
04:08in what, let's be real, three, four, five years?
04:11That's going to start at silly money, realistically who's going to be turning up on site in that?
04:16You know, it is not that, it's a toy car I would say, you've got the Rivian F1, you've
04:20got the Rivian truck, that again is going to be 90,000 pounds near on, no one's going
04:25to pay it.
04:26Do you think this could do, well I know I think, I'm asking my own question, this could
04:30do what the Hilux did for pickups, for the electric vehicle utility market, and I think
04:37this is perfectly positioned, the price point, I don't know how it would compare with a brand
04:43new diesel variant, but I would imagine that you're sort of, you're not far off, with the
04:48spec on this for a five, it's got the twin cab, I do think you'd be in the same sort
04:54of market, and yet no fuel cost ever, and what, 220, 230 mile range?
04:58So it predicts, I don't know what the WLTP range is, but realistic range on this car
05:02you will get 220 miles all day long, I mean that's going to get you wherever you need
05:07to go, isn't it, if you're travelling up and down the country for site.
05:10Think about site work, you know, and trades don't go that far, and if we do finally get
05:16the memo about workplace charging, charge this while you work, and then you've got absolutely
05:22ample power to power the site, because I'm sure that that adapter will then power off.
05:26It will then put out a good amount of power, and what's funny, if you do go beyond that
05:30220 miles of range, very rarely, you've got 80 kilowatt on board rapid charging, so you
05:35can charge this truck up in about zero to 100 percent in about an hour, zero to 80 percent
05:40in about 40 minutes.
05:41Wow.
05:42That's incredible, you don't need any more range than that, you're not going to be driving
05:45220 miles without stopping, so it can do everything you need it to do.
05:51And it feels classy, it's got real permanence, the actual driving position is great, I mean
05:56I'm not that tall, you are, but I still feel we both fit.
06:00We both fit very well, and when I got in it I was trying to adjust the seat, and it has
06:03automatic seat adjustments.
06:05On a truck, you know, it has everything you want on it, it's not missing one thing.
06:10My only downside I would say about it is the infotainment system, everyone knows, if you've
06:15watched our videos before, you know I'm a stickler for touch capacitive buttons, this
06:19has tiny little buttons to control the heating and the air conditioning, so when you're driving
06:24along and I want to turn on the heat, and I'm focusing on this, and not focusing on
06:27the road, so that's my only downside with it.
06:29Okay, so the dials are again, I mean, we've noticed that with other Maxxes, the actual
06:34on-screen display is a little bit piddly.
06:35That's it, it's exactly the same, because this is built by Sayak, who built the MG electric
06:39vehicles, and they've got the same touch capacitive buttons, but there's always going to be something
06:45to...
06:46Shall we get inside it?
06:47We should, let's go.
06:48Bloody hell.
06:49It's going to go over.
06:50So once you're in it, isn't it lovely?
06:51Well, it just feels premium.
06:52It really, really does.
06:53I mean, they've been clever on what they've done.
06:54Yeah.
06:55All the bits that you're touching again, all the time, they're high quality.
06:56I mean, the steering wheel, it's basic, and that's my only other concern with the car,
06:57it's not the greatest steering wheel, but it feels like it's going to last.
06:58If you're touching that all day long, that's, you know, that's what you want.
06:59Yeah.
07:00The screen controls, this is a bit finicky, it's not my favourite, it's not my favourite
07:01part of the car, but it feels like it's going to last.
07:02Yeah.
07:03I mean, it's got a nice touch, it's got a nice touch, it's got a nice touch, it's got
07:04a nice touch.
07:05You just plug your phone in, your phone is mirrored to the screen, all your music, phone
07:26calls, everything is hooked up.
07:27Two USB ports, so one for you and one for your passenger, which is really nice.
07:32in the back, you've got power in the back to charge phones, charge drill batteries,
07:36charge everything you need.
07:37At £50,000, this nudges anything that any of the premium manufacturers are doing in
07:42an ICE vehicle.
07:43Yeah, I agree.
07:44What I love is that you are making a difference, you're driving something.
07:48And arriving on site with this, you're saying something about the company, you're saying
07:52something about your ideology.
07:54And you can't say that Chinese vehicles and products aren't premium quality because they're
07:59getting there.
08:00They're learning so quickly.
08:01They really are.
08:02They're learning to keep the price down.
08:03This under £50,000, I think, should be thought about by most companies looking to provide
08:10a better image for their company.
08:11So the back of it, I mean, it's got this awesome thing.
08:13So if you bump into it, if you're loading and you scratch it, it's only plastic, so
08:16it doesn't matter.
08:17Perfect.
08:18But what's interesting in Rivervale, they will complete the back how you like it.
08:21So this one's got a roller shutter, they've also fitted central locking.
08:25So obviously it's locked at the moment, unlock, that comes down, that can take any weight.
08:30I mean, even I could sit on that and it will be fine, which is what we want.
08:33And this one has the roller cover, so we just unlock it up here, like that, and it can go
08:40all the way back along.
08:41I mean, that carries a tonne, it's a thousand kilograms.
08:45It's mental, isn't it?
08:46So, I mean, any payload- It'll take it, no problem.
08:49In Australia, they would call it a ute, and I think this is a butte.
08:56So I'd like to thank Rivervale down in Port Slay today for lending us this awesome vehicle.
09:00We're going to have a few more vehicles from them to show off more commercial electric
09:03vehicles.
09:04They're going to play a really important part in decarbonising our future in the transport
09:08world.
09:09So stay tuned for more commercial electric vehicles.
09:10Right, you ready?
09:12Yeah.
09:13It's lift-off time.
09:16There was an 80s series called The Fall Guy, which was seminal, and some of the viewers
09:21may well know it.
09:22Lee Majors, who played the $6 million man, he was a stuntman.
09:26He would have driven this car.
09:28This is the car for stuntmen.
09:30I want to drive this car.
09:31I want to take it to Paris.
09:32I think we should take it to Paris.
09:33Should we speak to Rivervale and see if we can take one to Paris?
09:34I think we're going to have to, actually, because it is so long.
09:35It is so lovely.
09:36Careful on the- Yeah.
09:37Are we all right your side?
09:38We're all right my side.
09:39We've got plenty of room my side.
09:40We're all good my side.
09:41That is like a cushion of air, isn't it?
09:42Isn't it?
09:43Amazing.
09:44See you guys.
09:45See you in the next one.
09:46All the best.
09:47Bye.
09:48Bye.
09:49Bye.
09:50Bye.
09:51Bye.
09:52Bye.
09:53Bye.
09:54Bye.
09:55Bye.
09:56Bye.
09:57Bye.
09:58Bye.
