00:00We'll be back in just a few minutes.
00:05Dak Prescott still looking for a new contract at the star Dak Prescott, who if he does not sign a contract extension, you would assume in the next few weeks will enter 2024 playing in under contract for his final year in Dallas.
00:25For the Cowboys took over as the starting QB for Tony Romo during his rookie campaign way back in 2016 and has been the guy in Dallas ever since.
00:37But again, entering the final year of a contract extension, he signed ahead of 2020s campaign.
00:44You see the numbers go to the regular season flashy in terms of the stats.
00:48If there are questions about Dak Prescott, it's the playoff resume, just two and five.
00:53But the issues that play Dallas from a postseason perspective are much longer and deeper than that of Dak Prescott.
01:02They go back to 1995, well before Dak's tenure.
01:05He has not been the guy to turn it around at the store.
01:08I just throw that in there.
01:09Anytime Dak Prescott's playoff resume is brought up.
01:13But the question, Donnie, the question here in Buyer's Cell, Dak Prescott will be the Cowboys QB for the next five years.
01:20It's a great question because if the Buyer's Cell is a little bit different as if Dak Prescott's going to sign a lucrative long-term extension with the Cowboys, I'd absolutely be buying.
01:28But five years is a long time.
01:30Now, he's right in the middle of his prime at 31 years old.
01:32It's no question that if he resigns with Dallas to have a great five years, but that's still a long, long runway here for him to complete.
01:39If I had to answer the question now, and of course, I would buy that because I do think he's going to get a long-term lucrative deal from the Dallas Cowboys.
01:47One thing we know about Dak Prescott, he's very efficient and very good in the regular season.
01:51And that team does have weapons like CeeDee Lamb.
01:53If he does get in the camp, which he is now, if he is happy with his contract, just even for this year, he will have a solid season.
01:59Which means in the offseason, the Dallas Cowboys are really just going to let Dak Prescott walk and get nothing for him and go draft a rookie quarterback and try again.
02:07And are all in win-now mode here for Jerry Jones to get a Super Bowl.
02:11I don't think that's going to be the case.
02:13I think they've resigned him to a long-term contract.
02:15But again, panning out, if he's going to be a Dallas Cowboy when he's 36 years old, as opposed to 33, 34, maybe 35, it's a little bit easier.
02:22But I don't – there's no world for myself where I think Dak Prescott is going to walk next year from the Dallas Cowboys without a new contract.
02:30That's not happening here.
02:31So the simple answer for me is I'm going to buy this because I do think Dak Prescott is going to get a long-term lucrative contract.
02:37The condition, though, is will he play five full years for the Cowboys?
02:40He'll be there at least for the next couple years.
02:42Five might be a slight stretch, but if I had to say it now, I'm buying it.
