00:00What's up guys, my name is James Nicholas and here are my five tips for beginner golfers.
00:03First things first, you want to look the part. Most clubs require a college shirt,
00:07gown, pants, or golf shorts. No cargo shorts, no denim. Other than that, things like hats,
00:12golf shoes, golf gloves are encouraged but not required. My second tip, something that you need
00:15when you play golf are golf clubs. I have 14 clubs here. It is the maximum amount of clubs you're
00:19allowed to carry in your bag at one time. Five clubs is probably good. I'll start with a putter,
00:23pitching wedge, seven iron, hybrid, and driver, and that should get you started. So my third tip
00:28would be showing you how to hold the club properly. What you're going to do is you're
00:31going to put your left hand on the club, try to hold the grip in the fingers of the club,
00:35roll your hand over it, and then put your right hand on. You can interlock or overlap your fingers
00:40as shown here. The fourth thing you're going to want to do is be consistent with your time. Find
00:43a local public course or a public range to go and practice. Then you'll want to make sure to
00:47find time to be consistent every week. Spend 70% of your time on the range, 30% chipping a putter.
00:52An hour a week is plenty if you're just getting started with golf to make sure that you actually
00:55improve and keep getting better. The fifth and final tip is get on the golf course. Call your
01:00local public course, you can find that on Google, and set up a tee time. Some tips when you're on
01:04the golf course are play fast, don't talk into the people you're hitting, and don't be afraid
01:07to go to the pro shop and ask the rules that you might not know the course around. Other than that,
01:11have fun, enjoy it, and hope to see you out here soon.
