A Light Shade For Dummies? | Elevator Pitch S11 EP8

  • last month
Hear from Brian Wholeman, founder of EZ Shade, an inexpensive and easy way to hide bare bulbs.

It's the season 11 finale of Entrepreneur Elevator Pitch, and contestants are fired up for their final chance at winning life-changing money from our board of investors.

Watch as hopeful entrepreneurs step into our elevator and have just 60 seconds to pitch their big ideas. If our board of investors likes what they hear, the elevator doors open, and negotiations begin. But if the investors don't like what they hear, the elevator heads back to the ground floor, game over. "I'm not in the business of wasting time," says investor Rogers Healy, owner and CEO of Morrison Seger Venture Capital Partners.

00:00Welcome to The Elevator.
00:03How's it going? I'm Brian Holohan. I'm the inventor of EasyShade,
00:06the clip-on light cover for exposed light bulbs.
00:09EasyShade is made in America.
00:11We are veteran-owned, patented, and we support those with disabilities.
00:15I'm looking for $400,000 for 5% of the company.
00:19Basically, we need that for international patents,
00:21because we have sales in 44 countries,
00:23to get a full cavity mold to drive the cost down,
00:26and for marketing and research.
00:29I thought he was great. He knows his stuff.
00:31Pretty healthy ask, pretty ambitious valuation, but...
00:35How healthy is the business? I didn't hear revenue numbers, did you?
00:38I heard a lot of retailers, so it looks like he has distribution,
00:42but how much revenue, I do not know.
00:43There must already be something that clips over an exposed light bulb like that.
00:50I think what you've built is simple, easy, I can see its scale.
00:54I think you've made great traction.
00:56I'd like to see more before I actually invested,
00:59because I would want to see the trajectory of,
01:01I'm going to make $1 million next year, $2 million, $10 million,
01:04I'm going to make $20 million, I'm going to sell this to whoever,
01:07so for that reason, I'm going to pass.
01:11Cool, thanks. No worries.
01:12Good luck.
01:13Good luck.
01:15I'm good. I think we'll be fine.
01:18Attention, Brian.
01:20Your presence has been requested back in the boardroom.
01:24Okay, that's pretty groovy.
01:28Cool, so you gave it a second thought?
01:30Welcome back to the boardroom.
01:33We were so impressed, and you truly embody the spirit of entrepreneurship at the core,
01:39and although you are not walking away with an investment today,
01:43on behalf of Amazon Business, we want to gift you $10,000 cash to help grow your business.
01:50Oh my God, that's amazing.
01:51Yeah, thank you.
01:52Hey, I can't thank you guys enough.
01:54Can I come up and say hey?
01:55Yes, yes.
01:56Thank you so much.
01:57Well, that just kicked ass.
01:58I was not expecting that at all.
