00:00Plans for Liverpool's Baltic Triangle train station, a new Belfast office for FRP, and
00:04a software firm which supports the UK's emergency services.
00:07All appear in today's business briefing.
00:14An interesting deal in the East Midlands to kick us off this morning with Motorola Solutions,
00:19which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, acquiring Leicestershire's FreeTC software.
00:25FreeTC software's platform is actually designed to maximise 999 call-taker speed.
00:31Its single-screen technology gathers data that enables call-takers to display the real-time
00:35location of the caller and allows the closest emergency responders to get to them more quickly
00:42to help those in need.
00:43So it's definitely helpful technology.
00:45Yeah, doing some really important work.
00:48Definitely.
00:49Terms of the transaction were not disclosed, however.
00:52I think you've got some big plans for us this morning.
00:55I do, yes, over in Liverpool.
00:57So £100m plans for Liverpool's Baltic Triangle train station have officially been submitted.
01:04So this is a major milestone for the scheme, which is basically trying to boost connectivity
01:08across the entire city region and also encourage more people to get public transport.
01:15Liverpool City Region Combined Authority has some ambitious net zero targets, and obviously
01:20this will try and help reach those.
01:23So Steve Rotherham, he's the Mayor of the Combined Authority, he's been speaking quite
01:27a lot about trying to create this London-style transport system in the city region.
01:32And again, this scheme is designed basically to support those plans, alongside that there's
01:39also the intention to create new stations in Daresbury, that's in Halton, Woodchurch
01:45on the Wirral, and in Carr Mill in St Helens.
01:50But obviously with this Baltic Triangle scheme, they still need to be signed off.
01:54However, the aim is that they will be signed off soon and then construction can start next
01:58year and hopefully the station will be open in 2027.
02:02An interest to see some development of transport in the northern city is needed.
02:05Yeah, I think it's definitely needed.
02:08Another deal from me, actually, this time in Wales and in the financial planning space,
02:12Bridgend Bay CST Wealth Management, which offers financial planning for individuals
02:17and businesses, has been acquired by a listed group, Brookes Macdonald.
02:21CST has assets under advice of £170m and a base of 500 clients, so it's a significant
02:28buy for Brookes Macdonald.
02:30The acquisition is said to add to Brookes Macdonald's growing offering in Wales, with
02:35the CST team well known to the firm already.
02:38Well, moving over from Wales to Ireland, business advisory firm FRP has launched a new office
02:43in Belfast.
02:45So the company will be based in a site at Urban HQ that's on Upper Queen Street, and
02:51the office has been launched to better serve its clients in Northern Ireland.
02:56Now alongside this, FRP has also appointed a new partner who will be based in Belfast,
03:00and that is Alison Hollywood.
03:02So she's joined as a partner in the forensic services team, and she's got lots of experience.
03:07She's worked in forensic services for more than 24 years, and she joins from PwC.
03:13FRP has also said that they are actively recruiting in Belfast to support future expansion in
03:18the city.
