00:00Now, farmers are asking to sell the vaccines against African Swine Fever at a low price.
00:08But the Agriculture Department says that each dose of vaccine will cost up to Php 500.
00:14Witnessed by Bernadette Reyes.
00:20Even if the whole Batangas is in a state of calamity,
00:23farmers there believe that not all pigs from the province are sick.
00:29In isolated cases, most of the barangays, predominantly of the barangays,
00:33the pigs are clear and clean.
00:35The plan of controlled vaccination against ASF has already started.
00:3910,000 doses will be given by the Department of Agriculture.
00:43Farmers are asking for the vaccines to be available.
00:47The existing vaccines that we are using right now,
00:50all vaccines range from Php 20 to as high as Php 100.
00:56So that is the range that the end-users can afford.
01:01If there is a vaccine and the vaccine is effective,
01:04it should really be given to the backyard for free.
01:07But in the Tayana Agriculture Department, the vaccine is Php 400 to Php 500 per dose.
01:13Despite this, the DA does not see that it will affect the price of pork.
01:19The portion of Php 400 to Php 500 is too small.
01:24That's only 5% more or less of the production.
01:28While there is no vaccine, the border control will be tightened
01:32so that the pigs from places with ASF will not reach other places.
01:36In Crescent City, the backyard racers are being urged to give up on the pigs.
01:42There is an ordinance against backyard hog racing in Lungsod,
01:46but they will not pay Php 2,000 to Php 5,000, as stated in the ordinance.
01:52What Lungsod will do is to buy this at a reasonable rate.
01:58According to the local government, if the pigs from ASF are positive,
02:02they will be immediately condemned.
02:04But if there is no disease, the pigs will be sold to slaughterhouses.
