00:00The big story in the East and the Mid-Atlantic states has been about record cold this morning and again tomorrow morning
00:07so true record lows among all the database of
00:11Record lows for and low temperatures for August 21st
00:15We smashed a record by 6 degrees coldest August 21st by 6 degrees in Parkersburg
00:20Previous records was back at the beginning of World War 2 at 51
00:25So we broke that record by 6 degrees
00:27Also broke a record in Clarksburg Charleston and we tied a record low in Lynchburg, Virginia and the Parkersburg record
00:34This is one of four cases in any August day in history in which we've gotten down to 45 or colder
00:40In fact, it was the earliest 45 or colder by a full week
00:43Previous was a week later into the late summer or early fall if you will back in 1986
00:49So impressive cold out there for the past three and a half to four hours
00:53We've been pinned at 59 there in Burlington, Vermont and others down to the south and west of there
00:57We did bounce back from that record low to still 76 in Charleston, West Virginia looking pretty good as a warmer spot on the map
01:04But just off to the north right over Wheeling, West Virginia high pressure parked overnight tonight
01:09So almost no wind and with clear skies out there the moon is going to be illuminating things
01:14Well still nearly a full moon
01:16But we're gonna get down to record territory again in Parkersburg 49 would tie the record and in Charlottesville
01:22We should tie the record for coldest August 22nd matching that in 1909 1925 and 99 years later
01:29We'll do it again. There's the lobe of the coldest air there the deep blue as that drifts away from the northeast
01:35It'll still be cool on Thursday and Friday with some lingering showers in New England
01:40And these are going to be activated by a slight rise in temperature into the middle of the afternoon bringing the showers to light
01:46But then they scoot away and they'll fizzle at night. So overall Bree next few days just a little warmer each afternoon
01:52We're beginning to step out of this after one more cold night. All righty. I'm looking forward to that Jeff. All right
