00:00Hello everyone, I saw a movie last year at a film festival, and I didn't want to review
00:08it or anything like that until I knew when it was going to come out.
00:12So it's coming out September 26 on Flex, I think, P-L-E-X, if I'm saying that right.
00:19I have a pronunciation problem, my name is Paul Branson, and I do Paul Branson Reviews
00:25and much more.
00:26And today it's a horror movie that I saw last year.
00:30But I'm very, very excited that it's actually finally coming out September 26, it might
00:37even come on Tubi or Prime as well, and I hope it does.
00:41It's called Lore, L-O-R-E, if I'm saying that right, Lore, and it has Richard Brake in it.
00:50Now if you know who Richard Brake is, he's in a lot of horror movies, and he is the known
00:55actor that I know in this movie.
00:58All the other actors I really don't know, even some of the directors have directed some
01:02things that I might have watched and I liked, but not a lot, so I'm only going to mention
01:08him.
01:09Now this follows in a very unique style, just like Trick or Treat.
01:15If you remember Trick or Treat, a classic with a whole bunch of short stories that lead
01:20into one big story.
01:22That's what kind of Lore is, in that type of style, and I like that, separate stories
01:28that lead into something bigger.
01:29I've always enjoyed that and I've always not understood why more horror movies have not
01:35done it that way.
01:36Now if you don't know this, Trick or Treat is going to have a sequel, and Sam is supposed
01:42to have a nemesis.
01:44If you're a horror fan, you know what I'm talking about, and I think that's a mistake
01:48that Sam should not have a nemesis.
01:54But that being said, let's go back to the other movie.
01:57So that's the type of style it is, just like Stephen King's Creepshow or Cat's Eye with
02:02Drew Barrymore.
02:04If you've never seen Cat's Eye, you should check that out as well.
02:08So now what this is about, there's four friends, two women and two guys.
02:17Now they go to escape rooms, haunted mansions, and all this.
02:21They found this online, an experience of a lifetime in the woods.
02:26So they're looking for the guide.
02:29The guide is Richard Drake.
02:33So they're looking for him, and you get to know a little bit about their characters and
02:36who they are, and they laugh a lot, they have fun a lot, and then finally Richard Drake
02:42comes out of nowhere, and in the movie his name is Darren.
02:48He scares them.
02:51And they wonder where the other people are, and he goes, they cancelled.
02:56So he gets them set up in a campsite, and all that, they set up their campers in this
03:01one spot.
03:02They have a campfire going, and Darren now says something about the woods, but in a very
03:09straight face.
03:11Like it's very creepy, the woods are creepy, the cinematography is incredible in this,
03:17and there's many writers and directors that directed each story as I believe.
03:23So it's real, and all four stories were actually good.
03:27All four stories, even leading to the ending, was actually good.
03:32Now how the story started to happen was Darren was telling that ghosts listen.
03:39They listen to you, and they're all around us.
03:42So here, take this piece of wood, and they're laughing, they're having a ball, and he has
03:46a straight face.
03:49So he gives them a piece of wood, and the guy throws in the wood and the fire, and says
03:53the first story, and I'm not going to tell you the full story, but the beginning is a
03:58man is being chased, and it's called Shadows.
04:04Now this story reminded me a lot of Blair Witch too, that a lot of people haven't seen,
04:09or don't even like it.
04:12So there's a lot of nostalgia, and a lot of easter eggs in here, and like I said the creepy
04:16music is really creepy.
04:18So that story was fantastic, like all of them were fantastic to be quite honest with you.
04:24Well just one kind of annoyed me, but the guy was annoying.
04:27The second one was a mother and son going to grandma's house, grandma died, so they're
04:33going to grandma's house, and they're going to live there, and something weird happens,
04:38and this is all on a low budget, and on top of everything else, this is a British film,
04:44and it's a really good British horror movie.
04:49Really well done.
04:50So that one didn't really remind me of too much, maybe something, but I don't want to
04:55give it away.
04:57So the second one was really good too.
05:01Now that being said though, in the second one they had a fantastic scene of her sitting
05:06in the kitchen, and just from the up view of her head, and down view, and the down view
05:13of the floor looked like Freddy Cougar's t-shirt.
05:16So there's a lot of hidden easter eggs and nostalgia in these movies.
05:22Now the third movie reminded me of another movie as well, and that's where the guy kind
05:26of annoyed me.
05:27It was about a husband and wife experimenting, and the fourth movie, now the fourth movie
05:34reminded me of Robert Englund's movie, The Last Showing, and it reminded me of that because
05:41it's an underrated movie of Robert Englund, because that movie to me was fantastic, and
05:47they did a fantastic job with the setting of the last movie, and it was really, I mean
05:53the last short I should say, and that was incredible.
05:58That was incredible.
05:59They could have made, all these shorts could have been longer, and really, really put a
06:04lot into them, but they really looked at some of the other movies out there, and they made
06:10the movies better in these little shorts, and then at the ending something happens,
06:16and I'm not going to tell you.
06:18So if you like little shorts into a movie, leading into one big story, you will enjoy
06:25Lore, and it's only a 5.2 out of 10 right now on IMBD, so that's probably the people
06:31that have seen it, and it surprised me, because people were walking out and they really enjoyed
06:36it at this film festival I went to, they really enjoyed it, and I'm glad they're bringing
06:41it out, and just for Halloween.
06:42Alright everyone, I give this movie an 8 to an 8.5 out of 10.
06:48I think it's absolutely fantastic, the acting and everything is fantastic, and I was glad
06:53to see Richard Drake again.
06:55Alright, have an incredible day everyone, and thanks for watching, and check out my
06:59other movie reviews and recommendations.
07:02Bye for now, and again, thank you for watching.
