00:08Hello I'm Claire, I work at Dogs Trust Glasgow where I've worked for seven years.
00:12We take care of a range of dogs, we normally have about 60 to 70 dogs in our care at any time
00:19and we work to rehabilitate them and re-home them. People now apply online and they can
00:24favour up to three dogs that they are looking at that they might want to adopt but what we
00:30kind of do is kind of like a matching system so if you've got the perfect match for one dog we
00:35might say this is a great dog, this looks like what you're kind of looking for. So we match
00:39dogs up to people in their their work environment and stuff so if people work from home they might
00:44be more suited to a dog that you know wants to have more interaction around the house and isn't
00:48happy being left alone too long. It depends from dog to dog as to how long the process is, some
00:53dogs are quite worried by new people especially if they've been here a bit longer and they aren't
00:57as sure or confident with new people, just build that trust up before they go home because it
01:02wouldn't be fair to send them home with someone they're not really fully confident with. Since
01:062005 we opened so we've got Glasgow and West Calder in Scotland so sometimes we do actually
01:11find ourselves re-homing to Aberdeen and stuff like that because it is a bit further away but
01:16that's not a problem at all, as long as people are willing to come in several times to meet the dog
01:22we're happy to re-home, we've also re-homed to England as well. I've got two Labradoodles
01:26both from here, the first is Poppy who I just fell in love with training, I never actually
01:33saw myself getting a Labradoodle but I just fell in love with her and for whichever reason she had
01:38a few families that didn't work out and then it got to a point where we got our house and it all
01:42worked out perfectly and I can't imagine life without her. Then a couple years later we got
01:46Oakley who came in and as soon as he came in I thought I kind of want to try him with Poppy,
01:52see how they got on and they got on like a house on fire so we've not looked back, that's for sure.
01:57So yeah this is Cooper, he is nine years old and he's been in our care for a wee while now,
02:03he is often our office dog, he comes and chills in the office with us, he's perfect in the office,
02:09you can get work done, you actually forget that he's even there until you hear his wee snores.
02:15He's very clever, oh there you go, yes boy, yes you are, yes you're the best, oh yes you are.
02:21So yeah Jasper's been with us for a wee while now as well, we think he's like a Jack Russell
02:27cross beagle but he's kind of like a crossbreed for sure. What are you doing? He likes walking
02:35with dog friends, he likes meeting new people, he'd be a great like hiking companion. He recently
02:40had a wee day in Foster with one of the Canine Carers, Mary, who kind of moved her partner and
02:45dog out for a day just to take him home. She said he took a wee bit of a while to settle in but he
02:49was house trained, he loved snuggling on the sofa which was really cute and yeah she took him for a
02:54good few walks and she said he was absolutely grand, he was so easy out and about and in the
02:59house.
