00:00The Global Growth 100, the job-creating potential of a £50M theatre development, and the new
00:07hotel at Sheppard United's ground, that's all coming up in today's Business Briefing.
00:18My name is Lawrence Culganan.
00:19And I'm Adam Beach.
00:20So, Adam, we'll start in the North West, where today we've published the North West Global
00:26Growth 100.
00:27As it sounds, that's a list of firms that are succeeding on the international stage.
00:32And it's a remarkable array of firms, actually, from travel and tourism through to manufacturing
00:37and everything in between.
00:40Topping the list is the software-based luxury cruise operator, Sunshine Cruise Holidays,
00:45while other businesses there include Sports Tours International and Totally Wicked, which
00:50you'll be familiar with as a vapour.
00:52I am, yeah.
00:54They are doing really well in the vaping arena.
00:58In fact, I know them from the fact they sponsor the ground of my home club, St. Helens.
01:05And they were established in 2008 by a then 20-a-day smoker who found out about vaping.
01:11The rest, as they say, is history.
01:13And the reason they're in the Global Growth 100 is because they also have a German operation
01:17as well, which is going great guns.
01:19And Sports Tours International, well, they're 50 years old, and they've been taking runners
01:24and cyclists, triathletes, to events around the world, and they're doing really well.
01:30So it shines a light.
01:31A lot of interesting companies.
01:32Yeah, no, absolutely.
01:33Absolutely.
01:34And that's all in the North West business side of the September issue.
01:39And lots of lists, actually.
01:41We've got the rich list in there.
01:42There's also an interview of one of the co-founders of Capital & Centric.
01:46There's the Liverpool ones to watch, and a host of other features.
01:49So I guess we'll pick up your copy.
01:51And away from global growth, I understand you've got news of an interesting deal.
01:57Yeah, a big one for dogs and cats lovers.
02:01Inspired Pet Nutrition, which is behind the Harrington's and Wagg brands, has acquired
02:05Butcher's Petcare.
02:06Now, Butcher's Petcare operate from a 385,000-square-foot manufacturing and distribution facility in
02:12Northamptonshire.
02:13Now, they specialize in wet dog and cat food.
02:16The deal is creating a group with sales of approximately £350 million.
02:22So it creates a real powerhouse in that sector.
02:25And the transaction is expected to complete in the fourth quarter of this year.
02:28Right, OK.
02:29Very interesting.
02:30And do you have pets?
02:32Yeah, well, my parents have a little Yorkshire Terrier called Nell.
02:36Well, hopefully Nell will enjoy some of these brands.
02:39I'm more of a cat person, so I don't know if they do any cat things.
02:43But it seems quite dog-orientated, the brands you mentioned.
02:45Yeah, they do.
02:46Cats are involved, so I think it's inclusive of dog and cat.
02:49OK, OK, good stuff.
02:51Interesting one involved in the theatre from you, I believe.
02:54Yes, absolutely.
02:55Well, I don't know if you're aware of Theatre Cluid.
02:57It's in Mould.
02:58It's a sort of landmark cultural sort of venue.
03:02And it's undergoing a £50 million redevelopment.
03:05They've had some incredible stars gracing their stage through the years.
03:11One of them was an Oscar-winning Welshman.
03:14Would you be able to hazard a guess?
03:16My first thought would be Anthony Hopkins.
03:18Correct, yes.
03:19The Silence of the Lambs actor.
03:21Other stars include Vanessa Redgrave and former Bond, Timothy Dalton.
03:25Underrated Bond.
03:26Oh, you say?
03:27Who would be at the top of your list?
03:29It's got to be Connery.
03:30Yeah, no, I think Connery, but Craig as well.
03:32Yeah, I'm a traditionalist.
03:34And I know Stephen in our team is a big fan of Dalton, so there we go.
03:39Yes, the redevelopment is going to be creating 100 jobs, the theatre has announced.
03:45And also a sort of annual local economy impact of £30 million.
03:51So it's great to see and great to have that destination for culture in North Wales.
03:55Definitely.
03:56Well, we've been all over.
03:58We've been pet food, we've been global growth, we've been the theatre.
04:02What else have you got for us, Adam?
04:04Yeah, notable addition for visitors to Bramall Lane in Sheffield.
04:09Double Tree by Hilton has opened its doors.
04:11It's actually the official hotel of Sheffield United Football Club.
04:14Nickname, please?
04:15The Blades.
04:16My granddad was a United fan, so I have to get that one right.
04:20The hotel features 155 guest rooms as well as a deli bar and restaurant.
04:25So football fans can get fed while they wait for the game.
04:28The venue has actually created 100 jobs.
04:31So a real boom for the area there.
04:33Excellent.
