ULTRON RETURNS 2026 Marvel Announcement
Transcript
00:00I've moved beyond your mission, I'm free.
00:07Welcome back everyone is Charlie Marvel just announced that Ultron is returning in live
00:12action for the new vision series in James Spader is coming back to play the character
00:17again the Hollywood trades that were reporting this information also said that Elizabeth
00:22Olsen would be coming back as Scarlet witch during the series as well.
00:26I know there's been a bunch of questions about Ultron coming back in live action.
00:30They were originally going to bring him back for that Iron Man armor wars TV series which
00:34then got turned into a movie and now might have actually been canceled quietly behind
00:39the scenes.
00:40So make sense why he be free now to join the upcoming vision series is such a huge part
00:44of vision storyline.
00:46So will break it all down.
00:47We actually have a lot of information about what their plans for Ultron was in the next
00:52couple of years based on what they were doing previously.
00:55If you're brand-new to the channel be sure to subscribe to get all the videos Marvel's
00:58been dropping all kinds of trailers left and right.
01:01So I've been trying to do videos for everything, but if you been keeping up with all the extra
01:05stuff Marvel's been doing with the characters outside the movies you probably already seen
01:10Ultron come back in live action.
01:13They brought him back a couple times since Avengers age of Ultron.
01:16Most people think of the infinity Ultron who got all the infinity stones during what if
01:20season one.
01:22But Marvel also did a completely separate live-action one-off for a separate Disney
01:26wish event where they brought a bunch of the live-action characters into fight the normal
01:31non infinity stone powered Ultron who had returned the funny thing about that one off
01:48is that even though it was brief and not really part of the movies that they were releasing
01:51at the time like this is a couple years old.
01:54A lot of those characters will return in Avengers 5 doomsday and secret wars and some of them
01:59will be part of that new Avengers team when it forms in the next few years.
02:03The bigger news you probably saw in your feeds recently is the James Spader is coming back
02:07as Ultron specifically for the white vision series first is calling it the vision series
02:13it used to be called vision quest, but that's not the official title anymore.
02:17We're gonna start filming that early next year probably releasing it in 2026 at some
02:21point they didn't say if it's going to be before Avengers 5 doomsday or after, but I'm
02:26gonna guess that will be after.
02:28So I don't know if that means that is going to be set on battle world or how they're going
02:31to handle that.
02:32I talked about that my previous video because it sounds like Spider-Man 4 will also release
02:36between Avengers movies.
02:38There's a couple ways that Marvel can deal with that on the story level were like TV
02:42series and movies releasing between those two Avengers films have to contend with the
02:46idea that everybody's on battle world and there is no multiverse anymore in one of the
02:51ways is that they don't address it except in like a post credit scene like literally
02:56just completely swerving on the problem.
02:59So you have to imagine that when the white vision series picks up in episode one they'll
03:02just do their own story then maybe in like a post credit scene they'll tie it to what's
03:07happening in the Avengers movies because vision will come back in Avengers 5 and Avengers
03:126 secret wars they change what it was originally going to be about.
03:16It was announced a couple years ago you might remember they announced a whole bunch of Wanda
03:19vision spinoffs, but in the new announcement where they said that James Spader is coming
03:23back as the character.
03:24They're still calling it the third part in a Wanda vision trilogy with Agatha all along
03:28being part two.
03:29I assume that means that they're not counting Doctor strange multiverse of madness is part
03:34of that.
03:35Otherwise it be part four of a four part story.
03:37But originally the series was meant to be more the Tom King vision story from that vision
03:41comic book which they kind of borrowed a little bit from for Wanda vision already and
03:46they were going to use it to introduce a couple characters.
03:48I think the adult version of Tommy was also going to come back during that to because
03:52we have the adult version of Billy coming back on the Agatha series.
03:55So it makes sense that Scarlet witch's other child comes back during the other Wanda vision
03:59spinoff, but a couple years ago Marvel had their big come to Jesus moment.
04:04They completely changed the way they're releasing stuff make all the Deadpool Marvel Jesus jokes
04:08that you want the MCU by the way you're joining in a bit of a low point they since completely
04:14change their strategy for how they're treating all the Marvel stuff on Disney plus all explain
04:19that later in the video, but as part of all those changes a couple years ago Kevin Feige
04:23hired a brand-new showrunner for the white vision series they have been given an official
04:28title yet.
04:29So now we're just calling it the vision series, but the new showrunner you might recognize
04:32is Terry Metallus from Star Trek Picard season three absolute banger of a season of television.
04:38You can skip the first two seasons of Picard just watch season three is sort of like the
04:42next generation's true finale Kevin Feige said that that was the reason specifically
04:47that he was hired because he watched Picard season three and apparently Kevin Feige is
04:52a huge next generation Stan and thought it was an absolute banger of a season so he's
04:56like please come work for us run this show if you haven't seen it.
04:59It actually is really good.
05:01So I do think this bodes well for the vision series like he is a really good showrunner.
05:05So I do think he can actually do a good job with the characters, but is meant to pick
05:09up a little while after white vision took off at the end of Wanda vision to just stew
05:12in his memories and his feelings that he recently gotten back from hex vision if it wasn't clear
05:17white vision is basically the original vision who died during Avengers infinity war after
05:23the final battle in Avengers endgame his body was recovered by sword because was worth billions
05:28of dollars like it's full of vibranium already by itself even without the underlying technology
05:34behind vision inside his body.
05:36He would be priceless.
05:38They tried to reactivate him and use him as the ultimate weapon Tyler Hayward learned
05:42they couldn't do it without scarlet which is chaos magic power.
05:46So everything he did during the first half of that Wanda vision series was in service
05:50of gaslighting her to cause her to use her chaos magic so they could siphon some of it
05:55off and reactivate vision when they did that they blocked all of his former memories and
06:00emotions.
06:01So he came back white also he didn't have the mind stone and that was such a huge part
06:04of his consciousness that he basically came back is this mindless robot when they sent
06:09him into the hex to kill scarlet which in order to bring down the hex because they didn't
06:13need her anymore like they got what they needed out of her inside the hex the hex vision that
06:18scarlet which created whole cloth using her chaos magic had all of visions former memories
06:23up to the point that he died and basically just transfer those back to the original white
06:28vision sort of like a backup hard drive USB copy paste situation.
06:33So should always be a reminder to backup your data.
06:36The reason why it's such a big deal that James Spader is coming back as Ultron.
06:40If you didn't realize James Spader has not done any new Ultron stuff since avengers age
06:46of Ultron.
06:47Anytime you've heard Ultron in any of the trailers is really them just like picking
06:50clips out of avengers age of Ultron and putting them in other context.
06:55He's never recorded any brand-new Ultron stuff.
06:57Anytime you've heard brand-new Ultron stuff.
07:00It's actually been Ross Marc and who took over after avengers age of Ultron.
07:05Most notably for what if season one because it was a lot of Ultron during that and that
07:09special live-action avengers event.
07:12You can kind of tell the difference between their voices.
07:14If you listen closely.
07:15This is James Spader's Ultron.
07:17Then this is what Ross Marc and Ultron sounds like I turn that key and drop this rock a
07:22little early and it's still billions dead so many universes so much chaos.
07:30Some you also might recognize Ross Marc and is the voice of red skull.
07:34He did red skull during infinity war and endgame.
07:36It wasn't Hugo weaving coming back.
07:38He was actually kind of salty about that in Ross Marc and also does Professor X on X-Men
07:4497.
07:45So Ross Marc and just all over the Marvel universe, but he does a lot of voiceover.
07:49He's also on the invincible TV series is the immortal to.
07:52If you've been watching my channel for a long time to I used to do walking dead videos every
07:56week you probably remember him is Aaron from walking dead.
07:59But it's a huge deal that they're finally going back to the original and getting James
08:03Spader to come back for authentic Ultron in live-action again.
08:07I think it's because they're treating it is a much bigger deal like let's go back to the
08:10source, but the big reason the bringing Ultron back during the vision series is because he's
08:15such a huge part of his origin story and he's reckoning with his past like he's just got
08:19all his memories back and start to reckon with everything that's happened to him.
08:23You remember that vision is the baby of Jarvis and Ultron Paul Bettany who plays vision originally
08:29started out just doing the voice for Jarvis is AI in the first Iron Man movie.
08:34So the whole idea with this new vision series Ultron is the need James Spader to record
08:38brand-new Ultron scenes that we haven't seen before.
08:42What that means will probably see a couple different versions of Ultron show up like
08:45we'll see vision remembering him having interactions with Ultron during Avengers age of Ultron
08:50with scenes that we didn't see on screen like new stuff, but from the past vision remembering
08:55Ultron that in present-day Ultron's code reactivating in him actually coming back like brand-new
09:01present-day Ultron stuff if it wasn't clear Ultron was not killed during Avengers age
09:06of Ultron his code just went dormant his code is basically been stored dormant inside Tony
09:12Stark's stuff ever since Avengers age of Ultron.
09:16So during Avengers infinity war Avengers endgame there's like a stick with Ultron's code on
09:20it just doing in one of his lockers.
09:22Don't you wonder what happened to all those other AI's that Tony Stark had what also probably
09:27do is yoink some of the plot from the armor wars movie that they had originally intended
09:31on doing for Ultron originally he was supposed to return during armor wars for the first
09:35time like it would've been his grand return to the actual live-action movies and shows
09:40armor wars was going to be a completely different type of story completely different beast that
09:45would've been an adaptation of the original comic book armor wars, but with Rhodey being
09:49the main character instead of Iron Man remember he just come back after secret invasion.
09:54The idea is that Iron Man's technology had gotten into the hands of a much really shady
09:57people all over the globe kind of like it does during the original comic book armor
10:02wars and Rhodey would've had to deal with that the actual main villain of the series
10:06just like in the comic book would've wound up being the government.
10:09But in the case of the armor wars movie it would've been damage control because they
10:12are department of the government now in the original comic book the government basically
10:17creates its own giant armor that Iron Man has to destroy.
10:20So in the movie would've been Rhodey having to destroy some giant creation that damage
10:24control accidentally creates in through that Ultron's code would have reasserted itself
10:29and that's how he would've come back like damage control and Val would've accidentally
10:34led to the return of Ultron.
10:36Now it sounds like the first place he comes back is this vision series and he just resurfaces
10:41from inside vision like there's pieces of Ultron's code buried inside visions programming
10:47which I think makes a little more sense like there's still pieces of him that make up what
10:51vision is essentially so it makes sense that Ultron would be able to resurface inside vision
10:57somehow as for Marvel's brand-new Disney plus strategy what they used to do in what was
11:03not working during Marvel phase 4 was the idea that they were introducing a whole lot
11:07of characters and concepts on Disney plus and expecting those to drive people into movie
11:12theaters.
11:13The problem with that is that a lot of casual fans treated that like homework and they felt
11:18like they had to do all this homework in order to understand what was happening in the movies
11:21and it wasn't really driving people into theaters.
11:24So what they're doing now like their new strategy is to use the big movies to drive people the
11:29opposite direction to Disney plus were like the introduce really big concepts and characters
11:34get people excited about them in the movies first, then they get people really excited
11:38to follow their continuing stories on Disney plus kind of like they did with Wandavision
11:43initially like Scarlet witch and vision really big movie characters like Avengers characters
11:48that people got excited to see their continuing story on Disney plus.
11:52So generally when it comes to Disney plus stuff in like the next several years.
11:56I would expect to see more of that kind of energy from the series that they're doing
12:01their couple exceptions to that like daredevil for instance started out as a TV show is just
12:05continuing as a banger of a TV show, but a really good comparison to make is that they're
12:10not doing a lot of what they did with like the echo series.
12:13For instance, like a small one-off character that they introduced in a TV series that already
12:18wasn't that big of a character on that TV series to begin with generally I think is
12:22a smarter move for them long-term like just leave with their strongest stuff like really
12:26cool stuff that people love in the movie theaters then just continue that where it makes sense
12:32on Disney plus, but everybody let me know in the comments what you want them to do with
12:36Ultron after the vision series going forward in the MCU if he sticks around and it sounds
12:41like he will stick around in some form speaking of all the big Marvel trailers they've been
12:45dropping recently I just did a big Marvel phase 6 trailer it has footage from like a
12:50bunch of upcoming movies and TV series click here for that video and click here to watch
12:54Robert Downey Jr. talk about exactly why he came back is Doctor Doom and what's going
12:59on with that.
13:00Thank you so much for watching and I'll see you guys in the next one!
