00:00Hi, welcome back to my channel, in this video, I will explain the ending of Sitting in Bars
00:04with Cake, so, let's begin.
00:07Sitting in Bars with Cake is a slice-of-life movie about two best friends, who happen to
00:10love cake.
00:12The movie is based on a book by the same name, authored by Audrey Schulman, and is dedicated
00:16to her best friend.
00:18The book details the experimental cake flavors and recipes of the 50 cakes the author made
00:22and took to bars and has some bizarre flavors, which are also covered in the film.
00:27Here is everything you need to know about the ending, just to let you know this video
00:30will contain spoilers.
00:32Jane and Corinne were childhood best friends.
00:35They now live together in LA because Corinne works there and Jane is preparing to go to
00:39law school.
00:40Jane is the introverted, shy one, whereas Corinne is the more outgoing, fun-loving extrovert.
00:46Their personalities somehow just sink into each other and they share a lovely bond.
00:50Jane loves to bake and on the occasion of Corinne's birthday, Jane bakes a lovely cake
00:54for her.
00:55They take it to the bar, where they and their girlfriends are celebrating.
00:59Jane plans on having Corinne cut it, after they finish partying, so they can enjoy some
01:03dinner, but this plan is ruined when some of the men at the bar start asking about the
01:06cake excitedly.
01:08They're obviously hungry for it, so Corinne decides to cut it right there and share it
01:12with everyone in the bar.
01:13This gives her the brilliant idea of having Jane take cakes to 50 bars in the city to
01:17meet guys.
01:18A simple plan, really, if men are so interested in cake, that is.
01:23Jane hates the idea at first, but then she agrees to the plan because of her love for
01:27Corinne and baking.
01:29She also needs that push to step out of her comfort zone.
01:32All the girls love the idea and they make plans for which bars to go to together.
01:36Shockingly, the plan actually works and men start approaching Jane, appropriately or not.
01:42One fine day, Corinne has a seizure, completely shaking their world.
01:46She has a brain tumor and she needs treatment immediately.
01:50Because they've known each other this long, Corinne's parents trust Jane.
01:53Jane offers to look after Corinne so she can continue her job in LA, where she's just been
01:57promoted, and still go to chemotherapy and take her medications.
02:02Corinne's parents decide to stay till they can get the girls situated, her dad even follows
02:06them to one of the bars.
02:08Jane and Corinne's dad build a special bond during this time because they're both very
02:11similar to each other in that they're caregivers and extremely organized.
02:15In the meantime, it seems the experiment is working because Jane musters up the courage
02:19to talk to a cute guy named Owen, whom she's been liking for a while now.
02:23Jane is a delivery woman at Corinne's office.
02:26Owen works in the law department, so she asks him if he can help her understand some things
02:30about copyrights.
02:32They hit it off really well.
02:34Corinne wants Jane to continue the cake-barring but at the same time, she begins to get more
02:38dizzy.
02:39At the doctor's appointment, Corinne admits to the dizziness and Jane feels like all her
02:43work has been redundant because Corinne didn't tell her this.
02:46They have a big fight about it, and Corinne blurts out that Jane has been making things
02:50no fun even though she's been working really hard to take care of her.
02:54They're both worried and afraid of what's going to happen to Corinne, and so they end
02:57up taking it out on each other.
02:59On the other hand, the medication is supposed to make Corinne have mood swings as well,
03:03so it's possible that the pain and her medication make her have an outburst.
03:07Corinne also ends up taking a break from her relationship because her long-term boyfriend
03:10and she keep having arguments.
03:13Jane and Corinne have a heart-to-heart about how they wish to be each other sometimes because
03:16of how freeing that would be.
03:18Jane wants to be more outgoing and fun, whereas Corinne wants to be more dedicated and serious.
03:24They have a meal with their families together, and Corinne blurts out that Jane doesn't actually
03:28want to be a lawyer.
03:29Jane feels like she's been put on the spot and can't understand why Corinne would do
03:33such a thing.
03:34On the other hand, Corinne probably feels like she needs to do this for her friend,
03:38who may never be able to do it after she's gone.
03:41Some days later, the office has a marathon to raise money for Corinne's treatment, and
03:44she hates the feeling.
03:46She only admits it to Jane, though, and finally accepts how afraid she truly is.
03:52Corinne has another seizure and then ends up having amnesia.
03:55Jane is completely petrified but manages to calmly explain the situation at the hospital.
04:00When her parents arrive, the doctor tells them that Corinne's condition has worsened
04:04and there's nothing they can really do to save her anymore.
04:07Jane is completely devastated when she learns about this and dedicates all her time to taking
04:11care of Corinne.
04:13She and Corinne's father do a paint-your-own-pottery workshop and end up breaking their pieces.
04:18A way in which they lean on each other's support to get over the fear of losing their dear
04:21Corinne.
04:23Seeing that the cakes are a big part of Corinne's happiness, even when she's hospitalized, Jane
04:27decides to continue the expeditions and bring back souvenirs for her best friend.
04:31How does Jane cope with Corinne's death?
04:34Corinne's ultimate goal for the cake-barring was to make Jane more confident and learn
04:37to assert herself.
04:39Jane finally musters up the courage to tell her parents that she doesn't want to go to
04:42law school and has never wanted to.
04:45Her parents don't take it too well, but she feels much better for telling them.
04:49At Corinne's last Christmas celebration, they all have a great time and celebrate the good
04:53stuff.
04:54Owen finally learns about the cake-barring, which he doesn't appreciate very much and
04:58ends up making fun of, even an English accent can't save you now, mate.
05:02On the day she quits her job, Jane finally admits to Owen that she needs some time off,
05:06so she can just be there for Corinne and herself, even though she really liked him.
05:10Corinne is completely weak and Jane tries to have a last conversation with her.
05:15They lay next to each other for a little bit.
05:17It's going to be Corinne's birthday soon, but unfortunately, she won't be there to see
05:21it.
05:22Jane breaks down as she finds out that she's lost her best friend forever.
05:26When she's cleaning out her room, Jane finds Corinne's fancy undergarments that she specifically
05:31left for her.
05:32She wears Corinne's favorite one on the day they're celebrating her life at a gathering
05:35with all the people she loves.
05:38Corinne's boss also shows up and talks about how her great idea will be taken forward.
05:42A year later, Jane has her own cake shop with a lot of the wacky flavors she made for cake-barring,
05:47the Silverlake Cake Bar.
05:49She even delivers cakes to a hospital to show her love for her friend.
05:53Jane found her journey in baking because of Corinne's push, and her friend will always
05:56be there with her in her cakes.
05:59Jane's dedication to doing what she loves is because of Corinne, and nobody can ever
06:02replace her.

06:06For the credits roll, we see Audrey and her bestie Chrissy, whose story this film is inspired

06:12In 2013, Audrey made cakes and took them to bars, and then her friend Chrissy got diagnosed
