Baking A Local Bread In Traditional Style ‪@Rural Cuisine‬

  • last month
Today I made one of the most amazing breads I’ve ever had.
The bread’s flavor and aroma whisk me back to when I was a child and my grandmother used to make it in her summer home for breakfast. Every morning we would wake up to the enticing aroma of the delicious bread.
Wheat flour and strained yogurt are the two main ingredients that give this local bread its excellent flavor.
This technique was once used to make bread by those whose homes had no furnaces. This technique for baking bread is known as “Sartash-Bontash,” which means heating from the bottom and top.
If served with tea brewed over a wood fire, this break becomes fantastic and even more delicious.

Ingredients for 5 Loaves of Bread:
For the Dough:
6 Cups of Flour
3 Tablespoons of Strained Yogurt
2 Tablespoons of Sugar
2 Tablespoons of Salt
2 Tablespoons of Active Dry Yeast
1 Tablespoon of Baking Powder
3 Cups of Water
½ Cup of Cooking Oil

For Bread Topping:
3 Tablespoons of Strained Yogurt
1 Tablespoon of Cooking Oil
½ Cup of Water
1 Teaspoon of Turmeric Powder..
