00:18Light is a form of energy made of photons.
00:22A photon is the smallest unit of visible light.
00:27Now you ask me, how does light travel?
00:30Well, light is unique as it behaves both like a particle and a wave.
00:37That behaves differently with different kinds of matter.
00:41If light hits an object and passes through it, that object is known as a transparent object.
00:49Let's do one thing, take a glass of water and switch on a torch.
00:54See the light passing through?
00:57Well, this proves that water is transparent.
01:02There are certain objects through which light cannot pass.
01:06And it changes its path after hitting the object.
01:10These objects are called opaque objects.
01:14Such as wood, the mobile you are using right now and you as well.
01:21Yeah, humans are opaque as well.
01:25Some objects allow light to pass through them partially.
01:30And they are known as translucent objects.
01:33Such as plastic, butter paper and frosted glass.

02:11When light travels through different mediums, it slows down and sometimes bends.
02:18And this bending of light is known as refraction.
02:22Take a beaker filled with water and place a pencil in it.
02:26Now look carefully.
02:28Do you see a bend in the pencil?
02:31No, no, the pencil didn't bend.
02:35The light rays just got refracted.
02:39That's why you see the pencil bent.

02:45Did you know that humans are bioluminescent?
02:48Which means that they emit light.
02:51But their glow is 1000 times weaker than what the naked eye can register.
02:59Light takes approximately 1.2 seconds to reach the moon from the earth.
