00:00Okay, so Jamar Chase is back in camp apparently, I saw some posts on social media, and he's
00:09still without a deal.
00:11So I think Matt, the hard part about all of this is, is it feels like you get drafted
00:17and once you do and you accept your rookie contract, it's, you have like no leverage,
00:22you know, like your only leverage is basically your team playing bad without you.
00:26So you know, I, you know, Chase is still another year away further out than CD Lamb
00:31was to get paid, but I just don't know what leverage he has.
00:34I mean, I guess we'll have to do this all over again at the end of the year, right?
00:37Yeah, exactly.
00:38This is the same thing that's going to happen next year.
00:41And it's possible that Cincinnati just says, you know what, we're going to make you the
00:46highest paid wide receiver in the NFL because he will be the highest paid wide receiver
00:49in the NFL when he does sign.
00:52And we know with Justin Jefferson, so we're going to bump it up a little bit above that
00:55and here's your contract, you know, and Jamar Chase, I mean, look, even if he went out and
01:00tore his ACL, he'd still get his money.
01:03It's almost impossible for him not to become the highest paid wide receiver in the NFL
01:07or at least one of the top three.
01:09So in a way he, he almost can't hurt himself going out there playing.
01:14And I think he's, he's going to get his money regardless.
01:17It's just a matter of, do you wish you could force the hand, lock it in right now?
01:21Well, sure.
01:22Who wouldn't?
01:23And you know, ultimately next year, there might be more money waiting for him on the
01:26other side.
01:27If he just goes out, does what he does, has another year, like last year, Cincinnati does
01:31well and, and, and there's more money to go around for everyone.
01:35So yeah, just Jamar Chase is going to be fine either way and it'll just be really interesting.
01:41I mean, he's, he's, I suppose you could say he's motivated, but yeah, these guys always
01:46are until they get that first big, big contract and it hopefully will be a smooth process
01:52and they won't have to go through a, you know, a brand new situation or something next season.
