Kumamoto Governor Wants Third TSMC Fab in Prefecture

The governor of Japan's Kumamoto Prefecture, Kimura Kei, has visited Taiwan in a quest to attract another TSMC semiconductor fab to his jurisdiction. Kimura made the request while visiting the company's headquarters in Hsinchu. TSMC's first facility in Kumamoto is set to start manufacturing this year while the second plant is expected go online in 2027.
