00:00Dylan Barry here on the Power 30 and coming up we've got an interview with Metallica.
00:06Right now Danzig's on stage, so really all the hardcore fans are up there, but I spotted somebody. Hang on.
00:12Hey, you're a Danzig fan?
00:14Oh yes! Danzig rules the planet.
00:18Okay, anybody else? Oh, come here, there's another one.
00:23Are you a big Danzig fan?
00:25Oh, big time, man. Check it out. I mean, I should have worn my white zombie shirt, but yeah.
00:32Who are you?
00:35Metallica!
00:37Okay, they don't pay me more for this.
00:41This is a Danzig on the Power 30.
00:45I don't like playing in the daylight, though.
00:49Why is that?
00:50Because I just don't like it.
00:51It takes away from the stage, though.
00:54It's just, I don't like being out in the daytime, you know?
00:58Are you trying to perpetuate the myth of...
01:00No, it is no myth. That's it. You know what I mean?
01:03It would be a myth if it was, like, maybe it's not true.
01:07I don't like being in the daylight, so there is no myth. I don't like being out in the day.
01:13Oh, my God!
01:20Music has changed, you know?
01:23As far as, like, you know, programming and things like that.
01:27Different music is more acceptable now.
01:31As opposed to, like, when we came in, it was just hairspray bands and, you know...
01:36You know the bands.
01:37And so for us, the stripped-down band, you know, it was like unheard of.
02:07How mainstream is acceptance of the commercial success of Mother 93?
02:13I can think of, you know, a lot of ways.
02:16Some people say this band just stuck together long enough for people to catch up to us.
02:21Some people say, you know, it was the right time, right place, whatever it is, you know.
02:25I just think it was a great song. It always was a great song.
02:28And, you know, finally certain people are gone from this industry
02:34and certain people have gone from media.
02:36And other people have more of an open mind about what music is supposed to be.
02:42That could be it, too. That's probably a lot of it.
02:54It's kind of funny. It's like if a magazine doesn't tell people you're successful, you're not successful.
03:00If MTV doesn't play your video, you're not successful.
03:03In reality, you are successful. Like Metallica is a perfect example.
03:07They were selling tons of records and no airplay on radio stations.
03:10You know, no video play. They didn't even have videos.
03:13But they were a very successful band, but a lot of people just didn't realize it.
03:16And it's the same thing. There's a lot of other bands out there like that, too.
03:19They're very successful, but they just don't get the coverage.
03:23And it's kind of like, you know, when you do the video shows,
03:27they're like, oh, you know, now you're successful.
03:29It's like, well, we've been successful. Where have you been?
03:32That's really what the reality of it is.
