00:00The American press is a little more understanding than, say, the British press, which is totally based on a very exploitational aspect of everything.
00:14So immediately they will pick up on that kind of stuff.
00:17And I'm constantly misquoted in foreign press, and even in America, too.
00:23I'm quoted for saying things I've never even said or taken out of context.
00:28I'll have an interviewer ask me a question, I'll give him the answer, and then when he prints it, he'll put a new question before my answer, which is a question he didn't even ask, which to me is very unethical.
00:59I think there are a lot of people out there that want something more than poison or want, or whatever.
01:08A band is just a fun band, and they really aren't saying anything much.
01:14I think those people grow up. Eventually they still want powerful music, they want loud music, they want to go crazy at a show, but they also want something a little more.
01:25And we're there.
01:28I'm pretty much from everything I've ever done.
01:50There's always been a blues element there.
01:53That's where I grew up, in those kind of bands.
01:58I think the blues was a very evil thing also to a lot of people.
02:02I mean some of the songs were actually about juju and things like that, little diddly lyrics, to Who Do You Love, the one song.
02:12I mean Howlin' Wolf, a song called Evil.
02:17I think that there's something about it that comes from here, and that's what I like to put in the music.
02:48Lyrically at least, I'm not afraid to add a little tenderness here or there, or talk about things like love or their positive sides.
03:02Negative sides of love are sad.
03:05I think melancholy is probably one of the greatest emotions you can feel.
03:11And I think a lot of women feel that a lot.
03:15I think women also.
03:29See, a lot of people think that women shouldn't be in videos, and I don't think we use them in a very exploitative way.
03:38And what else can I say?
03:44I mean I don't take that approach that women shouldn't be in the video, especially a song like Her Black Wings is about women.
03:54And I think that without a woman in that video, it would be silly.
