00:00:00You
00:00:30It was a black day in August 1992
00:00:33When Congress said, hey buddy, no more oil for you
00:00:37There's enough for our leaders and the military force
00:00:41So, buddy, don't complain, just get out and get a horse
00:00:48D.B.C., D.B.C.
00:00:51You can't catch a rabbit and you can't catch me
00:00:56You better watch out, cause I will get you tanned
00:00:59Now the firebird's gonna rise again
00:01:13They took away our cars and set up a D.B.C.
00:01:16To round up the people who would drive to be free
00:01:20But a bunch of us got angry, so we went underground
00:01:25Now they call us burners, but they'll never burn us down
00:01:31D.B.C., D.B.C.
00:01:34You can't catch a rabbit and you can't catch me
00:01:38You better watch out, cause I will get you tanned
00:01:42Now the firebird's gonna rise again
00:01:55We had trouble brewing, some senator's got him
00:01:59Gonna pass a bill in Congress that'll make the coppers flip
00:02:03Gonna bust the D.B.C. and let the people drive around
00:02:07Cause there's still a lot of oil sitting idle in the ground
00:02:14D.B.C., D.B.C.
00:02:17You can't catch a rabbit and you can't catch me
00:02:22You better watch out, cause I will get you tanned
00:02:25Now the firebird's gonna rise again
00:02:29D.B.C., D.B.C.
00:02:33You can't catch a rabbit and you can't catch me
00:02:36You better watch out, cause I will get you tanned
00:02:41Now the firebird's gonna rise
00:02:52Meanwhile, in a speech to Congress today, the president
00:02:56deplored the actions of the ten states which opposed to a lot
00:03:00of oil and gasoline supplies to citizens in defiance of federal
00:03:03order. He declared that any return to the use of petroleum
00:03:06supplies for, in his words, frivolous personal purposes
00:03:09would constitute a threat to national security.
00:03:12Meanwhile, in Des Moines, Iowa, terrorists carried out their
00:03:16second strike of the week at a U.S. Army fuel depot.
00:03:20This time escaping with 10,000 gallons of gasoline
00:03:23estimated to be worth $5 million on the black market.
00:04:20The leader of the pro-access forces, the renegade senator
00:04:23from Texas, Jerry Curtis, today gained a hearing with the
00:04:26State Senate Subcommittee on Energy Reserves from the state
00:04:29of California. Senator Curtis claims that he has few evidence
00:04:33to support his contention that the Pentagon has secretly
00:04:36stockpiled 200 million barrels of high-grade fuel.
00:04:40Because of all the threats to his life on military
00:04:43establishments, the senator is in hiding. He could not be
00:04:47But he is expected to appear for the late-night debate on
00:04:51the energy question in the state legislature on Thursday evening.
00:04:54If the senator's appearance in California is successful,
00:04:57political experts are predicting that we could be on our way
00:05:01to a return of the private automobile in the U.S.
00:05:04and possibly the rest of the world.
00:05:47Man to see you, tiger.
00:05:50Mighty low, we're running on air.
00:05:56Can you make it to the top?
00:05:58Hey, I'll just take me a deep breath.
00:06:06I'm going to have to get out of here.
00:06:09I'm going to have to get out of here.
00:06:12I'm going to have to get out of here.
00:06:15I'm going to have to get out of here.
00:06:45I'm going to have to get out of here.
00:07:16I'm going to have to get out of here.
00:07:32You're going to be running in daylight.
00:07:33You're going to be running in daylight.
00:07:34I had to burn them out.
00:07:38Here, I got something for you.
00:07:41Yeah? What do you got?
00:07:44Oh, that's beautiful.
00:07:46That's beautiful.
00:07:48That's gorgeous.
00:07:50All right.
00:07:52The only way out of the valley
00:07:54is right here.
00:07:56Pick up the senator
00:07:58right there.
00:08:00Why don't you come with me?
00:08:02The senator needs all the help he can muster.
00:08:04A favor?
00:08:06Or a favor?
00:08:08He'd appreciate it.
00:08:10You'd be well rewarded.
00:08:12Nope.
00:08:18Any, uh, D.V.C. in this area?
00:08:20Just keep your pedal down.
00:08:24And keep your shiny side up.
00:08:36Good luck, buddy.
00:08:38Thanks.
00:08:42Thanks.
00:09:12Thanks.
00:09:42Come on.
00:10:12Come on.
00:10:42Come on.
00:11:12Come on.
00:11:42Shh.
00:11:44Shh.
00:12:12Well...
00:12:34Well...
00:12:36I figured it was you.
00:12:38I don't know anyone else
00:12:40who can find more things in the barren desert
00:12:42to trip into or fall against than you.
00:12:44Yeah, well, I got here, didn't I?
00:12:46Yeah, you got here, all right.
00:12:48Let me take a look at you.
00:12:50Uh-huh.
00:13:06Well, well, well.
00:13:10This is the big secret?
00:13:12Yeah, yeah, it's the big secret.
00:13:18How come you never brought me out here before?
00:13:22Well, uh,
00:13:24ask your mother.
00:13:26I tried.
00:13:28She says she doesn't want anything to do with you
00:13:30or your affairs.
00:13:32My affairs?
00:13:34There.
00:13:36There's my affair.
00:13:38Ain't she a beauty, though, huh?
00:13:40Hmm.
00:13:42Be jailed for this.
00:13:44What for?
00:13:46For just owning it, let alone driving it.
00:13:48No kidding. I didn't know that.
00:13:50Well, you can. I mean, you could.
00:13:52Whatever happened to that feisty little kid
00:13:54I used to know?
00:13:56You never cared for me when I was a kid,
00:13:58and you know it.
00:14:00Now, who told you that?
00:14:02Mom.
00:14:04Mom.
00:14:06Your poor mom.
00:14:08Your mom
00:14:10always obeyed every law
00:14:12except one.
00:14:14She never let me see you.
00:14:16Never let me see you?
00:14:18You never came.
00:14:20Who told you that?
00:14:22Mom.
00:14:24And, uh, where did you spend your weekends
00:14:26when you were a little fella?
00:14:28Remember that?
00:14:30That was supposed to be my time with you, son.
00:14:32See, I...
00:14:34Oh, forget it.
00:14:36There's some laws
00:14:38that are meant to be kept.
00:14:40Except some.
00:14:42Yeah, well, you're still breaking the law.
00:14:44And you're wasting
00:14:46limited resources.
00:14:48Limited resources?
00:14:50If I had to, I could make fuel
00:14:52out of bullshit,
00:14:54and there is no scarcity of that
00:14:56in this world.
00:14:58It's against the law.
00:15:00Listen, son.
00:15:02I rebuilt
00:15:04this entire car.
00:15:06Body, drivetrain, engine.
00:15:08Out of spare parts
00:15:10cached from the black market.
00:15:12Now, what do you expect me to do?
00:15:14Turn this into the crusher so he can send it back to me as a frying pan?
00:15:16It's better than getting busted as a burner.
00:15:18A burner! That's right, I am a burner.
00:15:20I burn illegal
00:15:22hot fuel.
00:15:24And you know why?
00:15:26Yeah.
00:15:28I guess there's only one way
00:15:30that I'm ever going to make you understand.
00:15:34Here you are, son.
00:15:36Get in.
00:15:38What for?
00:15:40I'm going to take you for a ride.
00:15:42In this thing?
00:15:44Yep, in this thing.
00:15:46It's against the law.
00:15:48Oh, no. Come on.
00:15:50What's the matter, boy? You scared?
00:15:52No, I'm not scared.
00:15:54Well, you're scared. You look scared.

00:28:46Well, do you like it?
00:28:50Yeah, I like it.
00:28:53Look at all that dust.
00:28:54You must be able to see that for miles.
00:28:57That you can see for miles.
00:29:00What is it?
00:29:03Another burner got burned.
00:29:05Aren't you worried?
00:29:07Me? No.
00:29:09They've been chasing me for years.
00:29:11All they ever got was a mouthful of feathers.
00:29:16But nobody, but nobody, knows where I keep my fuel in my garage.
00:29:21I want to keep it that way, understand?
00:29:23Sure, okay.
00:29:45He did it again.
00:30:07What the hell's going on?
00:30:09Forget it.
00:30:11How are you going to explain two dead burners in two weeks?
00:30:16I said forget it. I'll take care of it.
00:30:21I see your lips moving, but you're not telling me anything.
00:30:24Pack up, Saunders. He said he'd take care of it.
00:30:46Hey!

00:31:41I'm good.
00:31:42Hi.
00:31:44How you doing?
00:31:46Did you get it?
00:31:48No.
00:31:49What?
00:31:50Get out of here.
00:31:51Oh!
00:31:58There we are.
00:32:00Brand spanking new.
00:32:01Yeah.
00:32:03What do I owe you?
00:32:04Not a thing.
00:32:05A favor for a favor.
00:32:09You can get out anytime you want, you know.
00:32:13Thanks.
00:32:21What's that?
00:32:24That sounded like a burner.
00:32:35What the hell is that?
00:32:38That's some little popper, isn't it?
00:32:43It's a girl.
00:32:44Well, no shit.
00:32:45When did that happen?
00:32:46Hey, Jill.
00:32:47How's the buggy doing?
00:32:48Oh, it's all right, Dad.

00:33:43You a friend of Red's?
00:33:46He's my father.

00:34:06Okay.
00:34:07Now, put a little ass in it, rookie.
00:34:11Damn.
00:34:13Did you find the tailpipe?
00:34:16Are you ready?
00:34:18I'm always ready.
00:34:19Let's go.
00:34:23Okay, fire it up.
00:34:26Come on, come on, come on.
00:34:27Come on, come on, come on.
00:34:29Come on, come on, come on, come on.
00:34:37That's beautiful.
00:34:38You won't have any excuses this time.
00:34:40Yeah, gonna blow the doors off that bird of yours.
00:34:43What?
00:34:44With his cab over washing machine?
00:34:46Oh, you forget one important piece of equipment.
00:34:49Yeah, what's that?
00:34:50The driver.
00:34:51Nothing personal.
00:34:52Ooh, just the facts of fact.
00:34:56Facts of fact.
00:34:57All right, what's the course?
00:34:59Well, from here to Gray's Rock,
00:35:02around Dry Lake,
00:35:04and then across Long Butte and back.
00:35:07Okay.
00:35:08Stakes?
00:35:09Oh, I don't know.
00:35:11The championship of Western Silver Mine County
00:35:13and 10 gallons of gas.
00:35:15Oh, come on, let's make it worthwhile.
00:35:17Uh, championship of all of Silver Mine County
00:35:20and 50 gallons of gas.
00:35:23Ooh.
00:35:25Done.
00:35:27All right, Jilly, it's all yours.
00:35:29Okay, gentlemen.
00:35:31You, out of the way.
00:35:33Start your engines.
00:35:52Five, four, three, two...
00:35:58Go for it!
00:36:23Come on, boy.
00:36:25Sam, I broke you in.
00:36:56♪ Riding for my freedom
00:37:00♪ This fire burning burning
00:37:02♪ We're gonna fly, they'll never shoot us down
00:37:10Whoa!
00:37:11That ain't nothing to it.
00:37:13First thing my daddy told me was to know what you got,
00:37:15second thing was to learn how to use it.
00:37:17Where'd you learn to drive like that?
00:37:18I took the crash course.
00:37:20I bet you did.
00:37:21Okay, let's see how long it takes me
00:37:23to make a burner out of you.
00:37:24Here we go with some little items
00:37:26from Driver's Test 1984.
00:37:30Are you ready?
00:37:31Let's go for it.
00:37:36♪ I've got my feet down to the floor
00:37:38♪ Chewing up the road and spinning miles and miles
00:37:44♪ In that needle tied rope
00:37:45♪ But this bird's got what it takes
00:37:47♪ To keep us flying high
00:37:50♪ Cos we're riding for our freedom
00:37:55♪ We're riding
00:37:59♪ Riding for our freedom
00:38:02♪ This fire burning burning
00:38:04♪ We're gonna fly, they'll never shoot us down
00:38:08♪ We're riding
00:38:12♪ Riding for our freedom
00:38:15♪ This fire burning burning
00:38:17♪ We're gonna fly, they'll never shoot us down
00:38:22♪ This fire burning burning
00:38:24♪ We're gonna fly, they'll never shoot us down
00:38:34Okay, Jill, pull over now, okay?
00:38:36Okay.
00:38:41Okay, I'm ready to drive now.
00:38:42Okay.
00:38:48Okay, now, keep up.
00:38:51This is the steering wheel.
00:38:53This is the gear shift.
00:38:55Four forward and one reverse.
00:38:57Oh, but don't worry about the reverse.
00:38:58It doesn't work anyway.
00:39:00Now, that makes you change the gears.
00:39:03That makes it stop.
00:39:05And that tells it to go.
00:39:10Everything clear so far?
00:39:12Yeah.
00:39:14Okay, now, keep up.
00:39:16Everything clear so far?
00:39:18Sure.
00:39:20Okay, step on the clutch.
00:39:22No, no, no, no, no.
00:39:23Now, push it in and hold it.
00:39:25But slip it in.
00:39:27Nice and easy.
00:39:29Be gentle.
00:39:31Easy.
00:39:32Now, isn't that better?
00:39:35Now, this is the gear shift.
00:39:40It's ruined more girls than picket fences.
00:39:42Put your hand on top of mine.
00:39:48Okay, now, follow along.
00:39:52This is first, down to second, up to third,
00:39:57and down to fourth.
00:39:59Got it?
00:40:01First, second, third, fourth.
00:40:08Ooh, that's nice.
00:40:12Yeah, you got it, okay.
00:40:15Push in the clutch.
00:40:20I'm going to jump start you.
00:40:22Okay?
00:40:23Okay.
00:40:24Go.
00:40:26Let out the clutch.
00:40:29Go for it.
00:40:31Let out the clutch.
00:40:33Go for it.
00:40:39Easy, easy, easy, okay?
00:40:47Come on, yes.
00:40:49No, no, take a left, left.
00:40:51Left.
00:40:52You're over, left.
00:41:01Come on, you speed, let's go.
00:41:04Move it.
00:41:16Speed.
00:41:31Whoa.
00:41:56Yeehaw.
00:42:00Yeehaw.
00:42:31Yeehaw.
00:42:45Okay, now, slow.
00:42:50Mom, Dad, slow.
00:42:53You.
00:43:01Stop.
00:43:06Not too bad.
00:43:08There.
00:43:19Hey.
00:43:21I said park it, not crash it, you jerk.
00:43:30Come on.
00:43:36Needs a lot of work, rookie, a lot of work.
00:43:41Hold those and keep your foot on the damn brake.
00:43:58What's your last name?
00:44:00All my last names around here.
00:44:01Ask me anything else and I'll tell you.
00:44:05Okay.
00:44:06What do you do when you're not driving around scaring the piss out of people?
00:44:09I'm a silicone chip engineer.
00:44:12A what?
00:44:13I put together calculators.
00:44:18Here, let me give you a hand.
00:44:19No, just stay there.
00:44:21Second time's always better than the first.
00:44:30Okay.
00:44:36Now, when I tell you, you take the foot off the brake nice and easy.
00:44:40Okay.
00:44:50Go.
00:45:01Hey, we got ourselves a burner here.
00:45:23Just take it easy.
00:45:30Go.
00:45:36Stop.
00:45:39Quinn, everybody help.
00:45:57Get out of here.
00:45:58Move it.
00:46:00Move it.
00:46:31Damn PVC.
00:46:35Yeah, how much gas you got?
00:46:39Oh, less than half a tank.
00:46:41Yeah.
00:46:43Listen, we better go on back.
00:46:44Wait a minute.
00:46:45What about Jillian, my son?
00:46:47She's not gonna hurt him.
00:46:49Yeah.
00:46:50Well, I better go back and check on him anyway.
00:46:54Okay.
00:46:55Too bad, though.
00:46:56I was winning.
00:46:57Okay.
00:46:58Too bad, though.
00:46:59I was winning.
00:47:00See you next week.
00:47:17God damn it.
00:47:18I can't see him.
00:47:20Well, come on.
00:47:21Move it.
00:47:28Jill, throw it in a second.
00:47:30Come on, take it easy.
00:47:32Watch out for that rock.
00:47:33What?
00:47:34Hey, Jill, where is this lookout point you were talking about?
00:47:39Jerk.
00:47:42Jill?
00:47:43Jill!
00:47:49Jill!
00:47:50Are you okay?
00:47:51Jill!
00:47:52Jill, are you okay?
00:47:53Jill!
00:47:54Jill!
00:47:55Jill!
00:47:56Jill, are you okay?
00:47:57Jill, are you okay?
00:47:58You all right?
00:47:59Are you okay?
00:48:00Did you break anything?
00:48:01Did you hurt yourself?
00:48:02Jill?
00:48:03You see this?
00:48:05Yeah.
00:48:06This is a very precious piece of my anatomy.
00:48:09Do you know how hard this precious piece hit the ground?
00:48:12I'm sorry, Jill.
00:48:13Very hard.
00:48:16Help me up.
00:48:21Boy, am I ever glad you're okay.
00:48:23You know, I thought you'd broken something.
00:48:25Never mind.
00:48:26Brush me off.
00:48:35Is that okay?
00:48:36Well, I don't think it's too bad.
00:48:38What do you think?
00:48:39I think we better get back to the buggy.
00:48:55Okay.
00:49:25What are you doing tomorrow?
00:49:51You want to try again?
00:49:52Sure.
00:49:53Okay, but I'll make you a deal.
00:49:54Why?
00:49:55Well, I'll take you out for a ride if you show me Red's dash.
00:49:59Sure, okay.
00:50:00I don't think my dad will mind.
00:50:02If I can find it again...
00:50:05I'll let you blindfold.
00:50:07Oh, great.
00:50:24Andy, come in, Andy.
00:50:30Andy, this is Red, Big Red One.
00:50:40Come in, Andy.
00:50:45Andy here, Red.
00:50:51On the way home.
00:50:52Have you seen anything of Jilly? I'm getting worried.
00:50:55He's probably in the barn by now.
00:50:58Uh, don't worry about it.
00:51:00What'd you do with my son?
00:51:02I took him home with her. Who the hell knows?
00:51:05Who the hell knows? Who the hell knows?
00:51:08Who the hell knows?
00:51:22Are we here? We're here.
00:51:29Okay, come on up. Come on up.
00:51:34Okay, come on.
00:51:37Watch out for the rail. Up you like.
00:51:41Hey, you can take it off now we're inside.
00:51:43No, I'm not taking it off until we're right there.
00:51:47You're the weirdest chick I've ever met, you know that?
00:51:49Yeah, but I know Red. I'm not taking it off.
00:51:54Watch now. Watch now.
00:51:56Well, don't make me trip.
00:52:00Okay.
00:52:03Okay, take it off.
00:52:06Well, this is it.
00:52:07Yeah, it's great, isn't it?
00:52:10Yeah, great.
00:52:13What's the matter?
00:52:14Well, I don't know. I kind of expected something bigger.
00:52:18Bigger? Like what?
00:52:20Well, you know, banks of electronic equipment.
00:52:25Supplies for hundreds of years. Tons of materials.
00:52:28Well, you know, that kind of thing.
00:52:30The National Director for the Department of Vehicular Control, General Richard Head,
00:52:35ordered all operations from the nation to increase their vigilance.
00:52:40The General in this rare public appearance stated in his address
00:52:44that the risk of converter activity is a show of support for Senator Jerry Curtis
00:52:49as Liberal Counsel for the Gatsby Appeal Bill.
00:52:52General Head stated that if the Gatsby Appeal Bill has been considered for discussion in the Senate,
00:52:58Senator Curtis should be impeached.
00:53:00Recent monitoring of the illegal burner radio network
00:53:03indicates an increase in burner activity in the southwest sector.
00:53:07Further reports indicate that renegade DVCs are being formed.
00:53:12A DVC spokesman in Washington denies their existence.
00:53:16However, reliable sources admit that certain DVC irregulars are shooting to kill.
00:53:21The National...
00:53:22What the hell is it this time?
00:53:24What are we going to do, Jason?
00:53:26About what?
00:53:27Dolan.
00:53:28Dolan's okay. I'll look after him.
00:53:30What are you going to do, play big brother the rest of his life?
00:53:36What the hell do you want me to do, turn him in?
00:53:40Give him some leave. Get him transferred, anything.
00:53:43He's getting worse out here.
00:53:47He's getting even.
00:53:49How?
00:53:52Six rednecks jumped him and ripped his back open.
00:53:56It's a terrible thing, I know that.
00:53:59But how can he get even, Jason?
00:54:03It's old history. It doesn't mean anything anymore and I don't care anymore.
00:54:09How many drivers do we let him scratch?
00:54:11Two? Ten? Twenty?
00:54:15Go take another shower.
00:54:27Oh, for Christ's sake.
00:54:47You can't do that anymore, Doyle.
00:54:51What?
00:54:52Waste a driver.
00:54:53Had to, a prick was gunning for me.
00:54:56Look, that burner was on a rendezvous. We needed him.
00:54:59Next time, no hunting solo, okay?
00:55:02Will you look at me?
00:55:04Do you get what I'm driving at?
00:55:06Yeah, I get what you're driving at.
00:55:11Give me the ID. I've got to fill out my report.
00:55:15Play me for it.
00:55:17We're not kids anymore, Dole.
00:55:20Come on, Jase. Take your best shot.
00:55:22Will you just give it to me?
00:55:24Play for it.
00:55:27No games.
00:55:28I said no games.
00:55:30Play.
00:55:40Thanks, kid.
00:55:41It's okay. I get to keep the horse.
00:55:45Whoopee.
00:55:55Why do you give in to him, Jase?
00:55:57He's insane.
00:55:59Because he's insane.
00:56:06Ha, ha, ha.
00:56:08Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
00:56:10Ha, ha, ha.
00:56:12Ha, ha, ha.
00:56:19Where the hell have you been?
00:56:21I've been here all day.
00:56:23Where the hell have you been?
00:56:25I've been worried sick of you out in that desert there all by yourself.
00:56:29You don't know north from your armpit.
00:56:31And I'm scared to death the G.B.C. to get all here. Where the hell have you...
00:56:36How'd you get in here?
00:56:39I was dropped off.
00:56:43Where?
00:56:45Here.
00:56:47By here? Did you let Jill bring you here?
00:56:50She wanted to see the place, and I thought...
00:56:52You mean you let Jill in here?
00:56:54Here? Yeah.
00:56:56Don't worry, Red.
00:56:58I had a blindfold on. I haven't the foggiest idea of where I am.
00:57:01Well, I know where you are. That's all that counts.
00:57:04Listen, before you know it, the whole G.B.C. will be charging through here.
00:57:07Oh, no, Red, they couldn't... So what?
00:57:12So what?
00:57:14So what?
00:57:16I mean, if there weren't any G.B.C., you wouldn't have any fuel for that thing.
00:57:22Well, they are the conservatives of our fuel, aren't they?
00:57:25Oh, boy.
00:57:27My boy!
00:57:30My boy, you are about to learn...
00:57:32You're about to learn the facts of life as lived in this year of our gas...
00:57:392015.
00:57:41One, a law that does not reflect the will of the people cannot be morally enforced.
00:57:45Those that enforce unjust laws are in themselves, by their very acts, unjust.
00:57:50Three, those who deny individual rights can't claim protection from those rights.
00:57:56Our government was formed to benefit the people of the people,
00:58:01for the people and by the people, not for the benefit of the government.
00:58:04Whoo-hoo!
00:58:06Why, aren't there more like you?
00:58:09Oh, I got another one. Bad laws are the worst sort of tyranny.
00:58:13Yeah, I know that one.
00:58:15Oh, yeah? Who wrote it?
00:58:17Edmund Burke.
00:58:19Well, as long as you know that much, then you'll better learn the rest.
00:58:22The D.V.C., the Department of Vehicular Control,
00:58:26is an agency that enforces legal but unjust laws.
00:58:30They do not have the support of the people, and we will resist them,
00:58:33as all tyrants must be resisted for the survival of individual freedom.
00:58:37That's right.
00:58:39And that's all we are, just a bunch of little old individuals who want our little old freedom.
00:58:42Mm-hmm.
00:58:44But that's not what we've been taught.
00:58:46You know, that's not what we learned in school.
00:58:48Joey, I'm going to take this young man out and teach him the facts of life.
00:58:52Mm-hmm.
00:58:54Come on, you.
00:58:56And don't come back until you learn them.
00:59:04I think that'll work.
00:59:18Come on, Joey.
00:59:45We are on very shaky ground, Jace.
00:59:48I'm not crazy of yours.
00:59:52If Senator Curtis succeeds in Congress, we're out.
00:59:57The bill will never be read. It'll be stopped.
01:00:00I can't believe you are so blind, Jace.
01:00:03This is crisis time now.
01:00:06The D.V.C. have to keep their image clean.
01:00:10You know what I'm saying?
01:00:12We'll get our lobby. We always get what we need.
01:00:15No, Jace. If this killing goes on...
01:00:18What is it, Curtis?
01:00:20Murders. And they've got to stop.
01:00:49How many times did I tell you not to...
01:00:52Firebird. I saw the Firebird.
01:00:54What?
01:00:56Yeah, I saw the Firebird.
01:00:58We'll give you your map.
01:01:00Yeah, it's right here. I'll show you.
01:01:03Where?
01:01:05Sanders!
01:01:07Where?
01:01:09We were here. We seen them here.
01:01:11Yeah, Firebird. The other was just a junker.
01:01:13When we first seen them moving, they were going east.
01:01:16We saw them here and they started north.
01:01:18North? They were coming right towards you?
01:01:20They must have been doing more than a hundred.
01:01:22I never saw two together like that before.
01:01:24My whole inside shook.
01:01:26Because he was too anxious.
01:01:28He fired a round off about 1,000 yards. He blew it.
01:01:31You fired at that distance?
01:01:33What the hell's the matter with you?
01:01:35I thought they were going to turn away.
01:01:37Hold it. Just wait a minute.
01:01:39Nolan!
01:01:41All right.
01:01:43All right, all right, all right.
01:01:45Look, we're going to sweep.
01:01:47Dolan.
01:01:49We're going to sweep this entire area.
01:01:51And next time, no phony excuses.
01:01:54I want that blue burner in scrap. You got it?
01:02:06Firebird.
01:02:08All right.
01:02:10That's right.
01:02:12We'll take that one off and put the other one in.
01:02:14And, yeah, I'll tell you about it.
01:02:16We're going to put the top back on and screw it on.
01:02:18Hello, boy.
01:02:20You're doing terrific here.
01:02:22Didn't make a mechanic out of you yet, kid.
01:02:27Can I ask you a question?
01:02:29Yeah, sure.
01:02:31Is the car the reason you and Mom split up?
01:02:38Did she tell you that?
01:02:40Yes, sir.
01:02:42No.
01:02:44Now, I doubt if I could even give you one single reason.
01:02:46I mean, there were so many differences between us.
01:02:48It just kept the atmosphere of the car apart.
01:02:52And it was so painful. It was so painful for her.
01:02:54And it was painful for me.
01:02:56And it must have been terrible on you.
01:02:58So I just split.
01:03:00I guess it was easier for your mom to blame it on the fact that I was her partner.
01:03:04Anyway, that's why I promised her that I'd never bring you out here.
01:03:08But I didn't promise her.
01:03:10Bet you couldn't follow me.
01:03:15She calls you a 55-year-old juvenile delinquent.
01:03:19She does, huh?
01:03:21Well, that all depends on how you look at it.
01:03:23You see, when...
01:03:25When you were a well-known eye, I guess it was just before you were born,
01:03:29the government gave the president powers and he passed an edict
01:03:33banning all private usage of automobiles.
01:03:35Well, I was ready to have a riot.
01:03:37I mean, nobody asked me.
01:03:39Nobody had asked 250 million other Americans.
01:03:41The government never asked them. They just passed an edict.
01:03:44It doesn't matter. It could have taken a tank
01:03:46right through the front wall of the White House.
01:03:48It wasn't the president's fault we ran out of gas.
01:03:51That's just government bullshit, boy.
01:03:54I mean, the military has hogged enough fuel
01:03:57to run private cars for another 50 years.
01:04:00I mean, you believe that kind of...
01:04:02Red One, Red One, this is Turnpike. Do you copy, Red One?
01:04:04Come in, Red One.
01:04:06Yeah, Red One here.
01:04:08Burner One's a no-show, Red One.
01:04:10Well, didn't he check in?
01:04:13Negative.
01:04:15McBean's unit's blown him away.
01:04:19He's dead?
01:04:21Terminated, along with his horse.
01:04:24My God.
01:04:26That must have been the smoke we saw.
01:04:28The senator needs you.
01:04:30Will you burn for him?
01:04:32No, no, that's not part of the deal.
01:04:34You owe him, Red One.
01:04:36I don't have another burner with muscle.
01:04:41When?
01:04:4329-14-8-400.
01:04:47That's soon.
01:04:49Well, uh...
01:04:51I'll copy. I'll, uh...
01:04:53Keep your ears open.
01:04:55That's a confirmation, Red One. I'll be listening.
01:04:5929-14-8-400. What's the key to that code?
01:05:01Deduct the last number from the rest.
01:05:03That makes it, uh...
01:05:0525th, 10 a.m., day after tomorrow.
01:05:11The day after tomorrow?
01:05:35I don't know.
01:05:57You gunning for me?
01:06:00No! What are you talking about?
01:06:02You're breaking my arm!
01:06:05What are you doing?
01:06:07Nothing.
01:06:34Don't let me stay with you a while
01:06:39I was blind before I met you
01:06:43You opened up my eyes
01:06:47You taught me what it means
01:06:51To be alive
01:06:56I might have started out slowly
01:07:04But now I am learning fast
01:07:11Baby, when you're my teacher
01:07:19I'm at the head of my class
01:07:33I'm at the head of my class
01:07:43I might have started out slowly
01:07:51But now I am learning fast
01:07:58Baby, when you're my teacher
01:08:06I'm at the head of my class
01:08:11The head of my class
01:08:27That was some roll. Are you okay?
01:08:29Roll me over in the clover, do it again, tickle my bum.
01:08:31Here.
01:08:33Throw on this.
01:08:35That's not the only thing that needs protection.
01:08:47Pink's your color.
01:08:49Thanks.
01:08:51You're welcome.
01:08:58Get in.
01:09:10You know, it's better when you're driving
01:09:12Than when you're just riding.
01:09:14I love it either way.
01:09:16Come on, I want to show you something.
01:09:27Whoo!
01:09:35What's that?
01:09:37It's a barn.
01:09:39But I want to show you my kind of anthropology.
01:09:41Come on.
01:09:43Come on!
01:09:58Come on, muscles.
01:10:00Wow.
01:10:02Nifty.
01:10:04It's like a museum.
01:10:06Mm-hmm, you got it.
01:10:08Who takes care of all this stuff?
01:10:10I don't know.
01:10:12I dinked in here one day,
01:10:14Found these babies in mint condition.
01:10:16Somebody who really loves cars.
01:10:18Red, maybe?
01:10:20I don't know.
01:10:23I don't know.
01:10:25Well, it's kind of my private spot.
01:10:27Well, almost.
01:10:32Aren't they beautiful?
01:10:34Yeah, they really are.
01:10:38You're getting that feeling, too.
01:10:43Shiny.
01:10:45I don't know.
01:10:47I don't know.
01:10:49I don't know.
01:10:51I don't know.
01:10:54It's smooth.
01:10:56Smooth.
01:11:01And sexy.
01:11:03Yeah.
01:11:05You like?
01:11:07Yeah.
01:11:09Oh, good. Let's go upstairs.
01:11:15What's up here?
01:11:17Oh, cows.
01:11:19Sure, cows.
01:11:24Hmm. What else?
01:11:26A great view.
01:11:28Yeah.
01:11:33Step into my parlor.
01:11:35Set the spider to the fly.
01:11:37Are you hungry?
01:11:39Yeah.
01:11:41Well, I've got some treats.
01:11:43Some cookies.
01:11:45And some hot dogs.
01:11:47And some beer.
01:11:49Over here.
01:11:54Wow.
01:11:56Here.
01:12:00You can see the whole world from up here.
01:12:04It's beautiful.
01:12:07Everything's so small.
01:12:11You know, we're pretty insignificant.
01:12:15I mean, people.
01:12:17I mean, I think about that a lot, don't you?
01:12:19Mm-hmm. Cam?
01:12:22Oh, Jesus Christ, Jill.
01:12:24Look at this.
01:12:26Oh.
01:12:28Well, take it off.
01:12:30Well, my shirt's soaked and everything.
01:12:32Look.
01:12:34Take it all off.
01:12:38Take it off?
01:12:40I will if you will.
01:12:43You first.
01:12:45You first.
01:12:47Together.
01:12:49All right. But turn around and no peeking.
01:12:52All right. On three, then.
01:12:54Okay.
01:12:56Ready?
01:12:58One.
01:13:00Two.
01:13:02Three.
01:13:04I'll be a rat!
01:13:08Four.
01:13:10Whoo!
01:13:14Hey, now, wait a minute.
01:13:16No, they gotta come off.
01:13:18Get your foot out of it!
01:13:21Jill. Jill.
01:13:23Oh, look at these.
01:13:26Aren't they pretty?
01:13:28Oh, it's the pretty blue boy.
01:13:30Jill!
01:13:32Whoo!
01:13:50Whoo!
01:14:20Hi.
01:14:36It's a beautiful girl, but I couldn't do it alone.
01:14:42I came up to keep Dad company.
01:14:45Entertain the gents.
01:14:48What does that mean?
01:14:52I don't know.
01:14:55Dad did something for Red.
01:14:57I don't know what it was.
01:14:59But ever since they've been real friends.
01:15:04Which is kind of strange.
01:15:07Strange?
01:15:08Yeah.
01:15:10Well, it's like mass paranoia out here.
01:15:14Everyone is afraid that everyone else is after their stash.
01:15:17DBC is after everyone.
01:15:20But they gotta catch her running.
01:15:28What about you?
01:15:30What about me?
01:15:33What got you so interested in cars and all the other stuff you play with out here?
01:15:38My mom. She was a mechanic.
01:15:41A mechanic?
01:15:44My dad couldn't change a tire without a manual.
01:15:50But my mom was really something.
01:15:57It's my buggy!
01:16:00DBC.
01:16:01Those bastards!
01:16:03Oh, Kim! Help me!
01:16:09Kim!
01:16:10Hey! Get off her!

01:17:09Oh, Kim!
01:17:14Announcement from the White House that Secretary of State Ruther will travel to Cairo next week
01:17:18for a round of discussions about the blockade crisis.
01:17:21And here's something.
01:17:23Spokesman for Senator Jerry Curtis continued to remain silent about the senator's failure
01:17:27to appear for a scheduled meeting in Santa Monica today.
01:17:30Informed sources maintain, however, that he will attend that all-important session
01:17:34on the energy amendment in the state legislature tomorrow.
01:17:38Maybe.
01:17:40On the world scene...
01:17:48What the hell is the urgency?
01:17:51I got a favor to ask you, Indy.
01:17:54What is it?
01:17:55Well, I told you you might not do it.
01:17:57Oh.
01:17:58Well, how am I gonna say yes if I don't know what the hell it is?
01:18:01It's a big one.
01:18:02Gonna cost me any money?
01:18:03No, maybe your life.
01:18:05Oh, one of those.
01:18:07Okay, you got a deal, sweetheart.
01:18:10I'm gonna take you back to my place.
01:18:11You just forget how you ever got there.
01:18:27Okay.
01:18:28Okay.
01:18:29Okay.
01:18:57Uh, kid.
01:18:59I gotta book you.
01:19:03Uh, D.P.
01:19:05It doesn't matter.
01:19:07You see, it's a one-year mandatory sentence.
01:19:13Huh?
01:19:14Do you understand what I'm saying to you?
01:19:16It's a one year.
01:19:17One year.
01:19:20I don't...
01:19:26I don't wanna do that.
01:19:29I mean, I can let you go.
01:19:31You all right?
01:19:34I'm sorry.
01:19:36All you have to do...
01:19:38All you have to do is tell me
01:19:41where the fire burned it.
01:19:43Hmm?
01:19:45That's all you have to do.
01:19:55Yeah, that's...
01:20:00Yeah.
01:20:15Just tell me where the fire burned it.
01:20:22Okay.
01:20:23I want to lodge a complaint.
01:20:26Your friend there goes and blows this kid's doom popper
01:20:28and we already had it.
01:20:29There's no way he's getting a bonus this time.
01:20:31Shut up, will you?
01:20:34Get her out of here.
01:20:36Not you.
01:20:39Him.
01:20:40Come on.
01:20:50Help!
01:20:58Help!
01:21:06I figure that the DVC's got a camp right about there.
01:21:10Now, if I'm gonna pick with the senator,
01:21:11I've got to get past that point.
01:21:16So, what do you want me to do?
01:21:17Run a decoy and you got it?
01:21:19Yeah, about a mile ahead of me.
01:21:21If you can make a lot of noise,
01:21:22just let him know that you're there,
01:21:23so he can pick with you.
01:21:29What the hell happened to you?
01:21:30That.
01:21:31Get him over to the car.
01:21:32That.
01:21:34Move it here.
01:21:35I take care of you four.
01:21:37What happened to you, huh?
01:21:38The DVC, they've taken her.
01:21:39They've blown up the doom buggy and everything.
01:21:41You mean the DVC did this to you?
01:21:43Bastards.
01:21:44Dirty, rotten bastards.
01:21:46Where is she?
01:21:47I don't know.
01:21:48I don't know.
01:21:49I don't know.
01:21:50I don't know.

01:22:03Get down, boy, sit down.
01:22:04You're in no shape to get out there now.
01:22:05Come on.
01:22:06Get me some water, will you?
01:22:07Let me take a look at your hair.
01:22:09Boy, that's terrible.
01:22:10Sorry, daddy, that's alright, son.
01:22:11Yes, alright.
01:22:13Here you go.
01:22:14Take a sip of this.
01:22:15So what do we do now?
01:22:17We go get Jill.
01:22:18That's what we do now.
01:22:27Hey, what's up?
01:22:29Hey, you lead with your left, not your nose.
01:22:33We're going on patrol.
01:22:35You're going to go tell McVane?

01:25:39If you want to get red, go ahead and get him.
01:25:43And the next one, and the next one, you're going to end up just like him.
01:25:51Get out.
01:25:53Get out!
01:25:57It's you, isn't it, Jase?

01:26:47Oh, yeah, it'll be fine.
01:26:48It's perfect.
01:26:49Listen, when we hook up these boosted batteries to these two lamps, we're going to have ourselves
01:26:56a lethal weapon.
01:26:58A lethal weapon, yeah, lethal.
01:27:02Listen, it's getting dark.
01:27:03You'd better get this thing moving now.

01:33:24Red One, Red One, this is Turnpike, do you copy?
01:33:28We copy.
01:33:29Network sure is hot, traffic's everywhere, what the heck did you guys do last night?
01:33:33Just having a little fun, I guess.
01:33:35Does Red One need any help?
01:33:38Red's got all the help he can handle right now.
01:33:40What's your ETA?
01:33:42I guess about 2300.
01:33:44Tell Red not to burn his feathers.

01:33:53Oh yeah, right, right, right.
01:33:55You're not driving anywhere.
01:33:57Oh, what are you talking about?
01:33:59Lift your arm.
01:34:00Well, sure.
01:34:01Just one.
01:34:03Well, I can!
01:34:04What the hell, you have trouble driving with both arms, let alone one.
01:34:09All right, Indy.
01:34:10Dad, Dad, we'll pick him up.
01:34:12Come on, Jill, let's go.
01:34:14Wait a minute, you don't even know how to...

01:34:32You ever get the feeling of her being conned?
01:34:35Yeah.
01:34:36Listen, Indy and I owe you one.
01:34:39I don't quite know how to thank you, but I'll try to think of a way.
01:34:41No, you don't owe me a thing.
01:34:42Forget it.
01:34:44Thank you.
01:34:45Bye.
01:34:49Uh, do you have a bathroom?
01:34:52Yeah.
01:34:54Do you have a shower?
01:34:55Oh, yeah.

01:35:02You do?
01:35:03And a hot tub.
01:35:05And as a matter of fact, you know, I should really show you how to use it.
01:35:10Because it's very dangerous for somebody to be in there all by themselves.
01:35:14Oh, really?
01:35:15Yeah, well, because...
