00:00Today is Celebrating Meals on Wheels Day and every Meals on Wheels Day was actually yesterday.
00:11We've chosen Thursday to do the celebration with our volunteers and we've got 80 volunteers
00:18in the hall today celebrating with each other for the work that they do for our community.
00:47So at least they count for 55 years.
00:57When mum was, we'd just moved into town and my father had come to town and she co-ordinated
01:13St Edwards Church at the time and so I've been doing it on and off since 1969.
01:21Brilliant, yeah.
01:22I don't remember what year I started.
01:25I started when they were at the Rugby Union Hall and I knew the lady who ran the Meals
01:34on Wheels there and through the church and she got me interested in coming to, I didn't
01:42do the run all the time.
01:45I did the cleaning up when we took the meals to the people in a very different way to what
01:52we deliver now.
01:54Very different.
01:55We ladled soup out of a big soup bowl.
01:59Peter, to say to you for the work that you've done and for all of those years, the commitment
02:05you've given and the outcomes you've given and gotten, congratulations on behalf of the
02:10community.
02:11I can't say thank you enough.
