01:32Betty Johnson and her two sons, Brendan and Dylan, are finally getting their wish.
01:55They are moving into a larger rural home located in the outskirts of Detroit, Michigan.

03:39But as she approaches the door, she gets an uneasy feeling.
03:47The basement in the farmhouse was kind of a creepy place.

03:55She needs time to get used to it.
03:59But it won't be long until her darkest fears become reality.

05:26I was so tired that my mind was just playing tricks on me.
05:35Over the next several months, Betty and her family finally settle in.

05:44while Betty juggles taking care of the kids and working at the mall.
05:49The boys were really enjoying their new home.
05:52Vernon was making a lot of friends in school and having a lot of fun,
05:56and Dylan really enjoyed playing with his brother outside in the yard.

06:04But still, something isn't right.
06:12I noticed a movement.
06:14When I turned to look, all I got was an impression of something dark

19:14that maybe Bryn was doing drugs.

19:21To ease her fears, Betty takes Bryn to see a doctor.
19:26They ran an MRI.
19:28They ran an EKG and the neurologist confirmed
19:31that there was nothing wrong with my brain
19:33and that there was no regular brain patterns
19:35or tumors or agents.
19:37They didn't know what was causing it.
19:39Besides some obvious stress that I think Bryn's under,
19:42he's perfectly fine.
19:43I knew there was something wrong somewhere.
19:46Either I was crazy or there really was blood
19:50and those were the only two options.
19:53I was trying to see it as a sort of message
19:57like things are going to start getting bad soon.

20:54and I couldn't shake the feeling
20:55that there was still someone in there
20:57and I was looking right at it.

25:09on the property and became involved in a heated argument.

25:25but he was blinded in one eye.

25:29His girlfriend witnessed the incident.
25:32She ran straight to the police
25:33and offered to testify against him in court.
25:37But fate had its own tragic plan.
25:42The former resident died horribly in a car accident.

25:51and spent the next 24 hours dying in terrible pain

26:12I stopped looking for work.
26:14Every waking moment, I was on a computer
26:17trying to find somebody that could help me.
26:19Betty takes control and scours the internet,
26:22desperately seeking advice from paranormal investigators.
26:25But many investigators seem to be in it just for the money.
26:29I found a lot of con artists and worse.
26:32They just immediately jumped and said,

26:40The family decides to stick together
26:43until Betty can find some help.
26:45Brynn and Dylan sleep in the living room.

26:49and we were terrified to be in there at night.

28:11It felt like there was like a dirtiness to it almost,
28:13like if you get uninfected, but it was fresh.

33:53and it's believed to drive out negative energy as well.
33:56Smudging is a traditional purification rite
33:59that uses smoke to drive out evil.
34:02I like to use a Native American smudging method
34:04in combination with a Christian Catholic ritual
34:06and we also use some South American rituals as well.
34:09White sage creates an atmosphere
34:11that's not hospitable for a demonic entity.
34:15Using a ceremonial feather,
