00:00In the face of a halt in the spread of MPACs,

00:03the Department of Health has announced that they are doing everything they can

00:06to maintain a mortality rate of 0% in the country.

00:10Joshua Garcia in the details.

00:15The Health Department has announced that the two new cases of monkeypox or MPACs

00:19are in good condition and are recovering from their homes.

00:23One of them is a 26-year-old woman in Metro Manila

00:26who experienced rashes on her face and back,

00:29which include fever, sore throat, and redness in the neck.

00:32While the other one is a 12-year-old man in Calabasas

00:35who also experienced the same symptoms,

00:37both without a travel history.

00:38The DOH explains that this is still the clade 2

00:41that used to circulate the virus in 2022.

00:43The DOH assured that it can treat and maintain

00:46its 0% mortality rate in the country.

00:49But in the Philippines, Nina, remember,

00:51case fatality rate is determined based on the number of cases we have.

00:55Of all the 14 cases we have since 2022,

00:58none of them died.

00:59All of them are alive.

01:00So we can say at this point, and we'd like to keep it that way,

01:03that the mortality rate of MPACs is 0% when it comes to the Philippines.

01:08The DOH will also continue the contact tracing and epidemiology study on the disease.

01:12We haven't seen any linkages between cases 10, 11, and 12.

01:18And even the most recent, up to 13,

01:21it's also Metro Manila,

01:23they don't have any linkages.

01:25So it looks like there really is a local transmission.

01:27But we assure the public that this is the mild clade 2

01:31that we can catch, treat, and stop the spread.

01:36The DOH also monitored the local governments

01:39for individuals who have direct contact with the two new cases.

01:42There were no symptoms.

01:43Symptoms included rashes, vesicles, or blisters

01:46in the drop-down list of the electric travel form of the health declaration form

01:50of those who travel abroad to help spread the information,

01:53not only in MPACs clade 2,

01:55but also in clade 1B,

01:56which is monitored by the DOH Bureau of Quarantine

01:59to stop the spread of the disease in the country.
