00:00So the title of the sermon today is Jesus is the Son of God.
00:07Jesus is the Son of God and that may seem like a very elementary sermon, but folks I'm
00:17here to tell you it is under attack today.
00:21Go to Genesis 3.
00:23So if you go to the first book of the Old Testament, Genesis, Satan always asks a question
00:36when God puts a period.
00:37Let's look at that, Genesis 3 verse 1.
00:39Now the serpent, talking about Satan, was more subtle than any beast of the field which
00:47the Lord God hath made, and he said unto the woman, yea, hath God said you shall not eat
00:56of every tree of the garden?
00:58Now obviously God did say that, but Satan always questions where God puts a period.
01:06So isn't it interesting that in the first book, almost in the first part of the Bible,
01:12Satan questions a statement.
01:15Go to Matthew 4, so I think it's interesting that not too far into the first book of the
01:22New Testament, Matthew chapter 4, verse 1, Satan does the same thing.
01:33This is when he's testing, tempting Jesus, and Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the
01:38wilderness to be tempted of the devil, and when he had fasted forty days and forty nights
01:43he was afterward hungered, and when the tempter, talking about Satan, came to him, he said,
01:49If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
01:53So again, he's questioning, if you think you're the Son of God, this is what you should do.
01:59But Jesus answered him and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but every
02:04word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
02:08Just to let you know, that came from Deuteronomy 8.3, but the new Bible versions, they just
02:14say, Man shall not live by bread alone.
02:15They don't put the last part, that every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
02:19Why?
02:20Because if you've got NIV, you don't have every word that proceedeth out of the mouth
02:24of God.
02:25You've got something changed.
02:26Then the devil had taken him up into the holy city and setteth him on a pinnacle of the
02:31temple.
02:32So he's standing up on high area on top of the temple and said unto him, If thou be the
02:37Son of God, cast thou thyself down.
02:40It is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee, and in their hands they shall
02:45bear thee up, lest at any time thou shalt dash thy foot against a stone.
02:50And he said unto them, It is written, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
02:55That came from Deuteronomy 6.16.
02:58So twice, Satan is questioning, if you think you're the Son of God, show me, prove it to
03:04me.
03:06People question that he's the Son of God.
03:09So that's the first point.
03:11People question this fact, and we see that.
03:14Number two is that Jesus says he is the Son of God.
03:18Go to Luke 1, Luke 1.
03:22So why is Jesus called the Son of God?
03:25Because when you think about just common sense, if you're a person and you have a son, then
03:34that person, that son, has been begotten from you.
03:40Well, Jesus is not a created being, but the biggest reason why Jesus is called the Son
03:46of God is right here in Luke 1.34.
03:51But there's a couple other reasons we're going to go through.
03:53This is the biggest reason.
03:54Because you have Muslims and, you know, different other sects of religion.
04:01They will tell you, well, Jesus says he's the Son of God, but he's not God.
04:06Or Jesus doesn't say he's the Son of God, but he does say, why is he called the Son
04:11of God?
04:12This is the reason right here.
04:13The biggest reason.
04:15Verse 34 in Luke 1.
04:16Then said Mary unto the angel, how shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
04:24So the angel says, hey, you're going to have a baby and his name's going to be called Jesus.
04:29And she says, well, how?
04:31I've not known a man.
04:32She's not had that physical relationship with Joseph yet.
04:36And the angel answered and said unto her, the Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the
04:43power of the high shall overshadow thee.
04:46Therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of
04:53God.
04:54So why is Jesus called the Son of God?
04:56Well, first of all, because he was put inside of Mary from the Holy Ghost.
05:03He has no man.
05:05Joseph is not his father.
05:07So since he does not have the seed of a man, then he is the Son of God.
05:11That's the only explanation there is.
05:14Not that he's created being, not that he's begotten from God in that manner that he came
05:20from the lineage of God, the father.
05:23That's not what that's saying.
05:25So let me show you some verses where they do say, go to Mark 1, Mark 1.1.
05:34We know that the Bible, the narrator of the Bible is the Holy Ghost, the Holy Spirit.
05:41So right off the bat, you see in Mark 1.1, the beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ,
05:46the Son of God.
05:48Go to Matthew 14, Matthew 14.
05:55So right there, it says that he is the Son of God, Matthew 14.
06:06This is where Jesus is walking on the water.
06:10Look at verse 27, but straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, this is Matthew 14.27,
06:16Be of good cheer, it is I, be not afraid.
06:19And Peter answered him and said, Lord, have thou bid me come unto thee on the water?
06:24And he said, come.
06:25And when Peter was come out onto the ship, out of the ship, he walked on the water to
06:30go to Jesus.
06:33But when he saw the wind bolsterous, means that it's boisterous, I'm sorry, that it's
06:38a, he sees the waves and he's thinking, man, I'm standing out here on the water.
06:43He was afraid because he quit looking at Jesus.
06:46And beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
06:51And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand and caught him and said unto him, O thou
06:56of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
07:00And when they were coming to the ship, the wind ceased.
07:03Then they were in the ship, came and worshiped him, saying, O of a truth, thou art the Son
07:10of God.
07:11So we see, uh, first the narrator, the Holy Spirit says that Jesus is the Son of God.
07:17We know that the Holy Spirit put the baby inside of Mary and because it is of God, he's
07:24called the Son of God.
07:26Now we see the disciples see, Hey, this man called Jesus, he's making all the things on
07:34earth to bow down to him.
07:37He's making the wind, the seas, he is the Son of God.
07:40Um, I'm going to Matthew 26 while you're in the book of Matthew, look at Matthew 26, uh,
07:56verse 33, Matthew 26, 33, uh, no, that's not right.
08:13I go to Mark five, I'm sorry, go to Mark five, Mark five, verse one.
08:22This is where, uh, Jesus comes to the man with the unclean spirits.
08:28Look at Matt, Mark one, five, five, one.
08:31And they came over onto the other side of the sea into the country of the Gadarenes.
08:36And we was come out of the ship immediately there, met him out of the tomb, a man with
08:41an unclean spirit.
08:43So you got a picture of this.
08:44There's this man and he's on an Island.
08:47He's, he's taken away from other people and he's got a bunch of demons possessed inside
08:52of him who had his dwelling among the tombs and no man could bind him.
08:57So he's got the strength of a bunch of men and nobody could bind him, not, no, not with
09:04chains.
09:05So they got him separated from other people because he's got all these demons inside of
09:08him.
09:09And you'll see that plenty of times that people have extra strength when they're possessed
09:14with demons because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains and the chains
09:20have been plucked asunder by him.
09:22So this is a guy who, because of these unclean spirits, he can break these chains.
09:27He can come out of the chains and the fetters broken in pieces.
09:32Neither could any man tame him.
09:35And always night and day he was in the mountains and then the tombs crying and cutting himself
09:40with stones.
09:41So anytime you see somebody cutting themselves, this is a good example of people who are possessed
09:47by demons because, uh, say, I mean, unsaved people, they don't have a problem cutting
09:53themselves.
09:54And you'll see that a lot of times he's got people that, that are hanging out in tombs
09:58and cemeteries and wanting to cut themselves.
10:01This is a good example of them not being saved.
10:05But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshiped him.
10:09So this man, he sees Jesus and he realizes who he is and cried with a loud voice and
10:14said, what have I to do with the Jesus, thou son of the most high God, I adjure thee by
10:22God that thou torment me not.
10:25So what do we see?
10:27We see even demons realize that Jesus is a son of God.
10:32So why do people question this?
10:33The demons know that and all these other people know that.
10:37Please tell me this.
10:38For it said unto them, come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.
10:42And he asked him, what is our name?
10:44And he answered saying, my name is Legion for we are many.
10:47So he didn't just have one demon, he had many demons.
10:51So go to John nine.
10:54Let me show you the places where Jesus did say out of his own mouth, he is a son of God.
11:00In fact, the, they hated it so much that they put him on the cross for it.
11:06They crucified him because he told them that look at John nine 35, John nine 35, Jesus
11:16heard that they had cast him out.
11:19And when he had found him, he said unto him, does thou believe on the son of God?
11:26And he answered and said, who is he?
11:29So this is a man that Jesus is healing and he's saying, Hey, do you believe on the son
11:33of God?
11:34And he's like, who is this guy that I might believe on him?
11:37Look at verse seven, 37.
11:39And Jesus said unto him, thou has both seen him and it is he that talketh with thee.
11:45He's saying, I am that guy.
11:47I am the son of God.
11:48You don't know who he is.
11:50I am him.
11:51And he said, Lord, I believe.
11:53And he worshiped him.
11:55So this is the first time that Jesus says, I am the son of God.
12:00Go to chapter 10, one page over, verse 34 in John 10, 10, 34, Jesus answers and it is
12:13not written in your law.
12:15I said, ye are God's with a little G go, go to verse 33.
12:21I'm sorry.
12:22The Jews answered him saying for a good work, we stoned the knot, but for blasphemy and
12:27because thou being a man, make yourself God.
12:34And he has, it is not written in your law.
12:36I said, ye are God's.
12:41If you called them God's little G unto whom the word of God came and the scripture cannot
12:47be broken.
12:48Say ye of him whom the father has sanctified and sent into the world, thou blasphemous
12:54because I said, I am the son of God.
12:57If I do not the works of my father, believe me not.
13:01But if I do, though you believe not me, believe the works that you may know and believe that
13:08the father is in me and I am him.
13:12So what happens?
13:13Look at verse 39, therefore, they sought again to take him, but he escaped out of their hand.
13:19Why?
13:20They're fixing to kill him because he said he's the son of God.
13:23They did not like that.
13:27They thought it was blasphemy, but he's saying, look, if you understand my father, you understand
13:32me.
13:33They don't.
13:34That's today's time.
13:35These Pharisees are the same as these Jews in Israel or people in Israel.
13:40They worshiping a different God they don't understand.
13:44But again, just like many times in the book of John, we see where they're trying to lay
13:49hands on him to kill him.
13:51And Jesus escapes.
13:52Why?
13:53Because it was not his time to be crucified yet.
13:57I want you to go back to John nine.
13:59I want you to look in your Bible and I'm going to tell you what an NIV says, because again,
14:05this is under attack.
14:11John nine thirty five.
14:12Remember, the guy said, hey, who is the son of God?
14:17And he said, you're talking with him pretty clear.
14:20You know, you said, hey, who who who is who is Mark?
14:26And I say, I'm you're talking to him.
14:27I am Mark.
14:28That's basically what Jesus is saying.
14:31He's saying I am that guy.
14:33Look at the book.
14:34Look at the Bible.
14:35Jesus heard that they had thrown him out.
14:38And when and when he found him, he said, do you believe in the son of man, the son of
14:44man?
14:46Not the same.
14:47Ezekiel was called the son of man.
14:49Jeremiah was called the son of man.
14:51Now we're going to when we get to the end, I'm going to show you that Jesus is called
14:55the son of man and the son of God.
14:57But did Jesus say he's the son of man or did he say he's the son of God?
15:01Well, I have to go with the King James Bible because you got the King James Bible, which
15:07was translated directly from the Greek into English with the NIV.
15:13They're attacking the deity of Christ.
15:18Who is he, sir?
15:19The man asked, tell me that I may believe in him.
15:21Jesus said, you have now seen him.
15:23In fact, he is the one speaking with you and Lord, I believe in he worship him.
15:29So he's saying the son of man, go to go back to John 10.
15:34Let's see how they brutalized it in John 10, John 10, 34, Jesus answered and it is not
15:40written in your law, have said you are gods.
15:43If you call them gods to whom this word of God came and the spirit cannot be broken.
15:50For what about the one whom the father set apart at his very own and sent into the world?
15:57Well, then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, I am God's son.
16:02Do not believe me unless I do what my father does.
16:05If I do it, even though you do not believe me, has come the son of man to be glorified.
16:13Again, they changed son of God.
16:16What a King James Bible in both these places says he's the son of God.
16:20They changed it to son of man.
16:21That's taking away the deity of Christ and the other new Bible versions.
16:26They do the same thing because most of them follow suit with the NIV.
16:30The new King James Bible used to say that and they changed it because people got all
16:35upset about it.
16:37So Jesus says he is the son of God.
16:39That's what we see.
16:43I had one time a Muslim was trying to argue with me.
16:47I wasn't really arguing with him, but he was telling me, where does Jesus say he is God?
16:52The first place I want you to go to is Revelation 1.
16:56So isn't it interesting when Jesus is, before he goes on the cross, when he's there, he's
17:02a meek, humble man.
17:04He's a teacher.
17:06But then when you see Jesus appear to John at the Isle of Patmos, he's not this meek
17:13man anymore.
17:14He's not this meek servant like person.
17:18He is bold.
17:20And that's what I like about this part here.
17:22Look at Revelation 1.
17:24Again, this is where Jesus appears to John, the apostle.
17:31He's exiled onto the Isle of Patmos, probably because he claimed Jesus.
17:36And while he's there, Jesus comes to him to encourage him.
17:39Look at Revelation 1 verse 7.
17:42Behold, he cometh with clouds, that's Jesus, and every eye shall see him.
17:49And they also which pierced him and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him.
17:54Even so, amen.
17:56I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending.
18:02So obviously, if somebody says, I'm the beginning and the end, I'm everything, that would be
18:08God.
18:09I mean, is that not hard to figure out?
18:11If you go down to verse 17, again, he says, and when I saw him, I fell at his feet.
18:17This is John is dead, and he laid his right hand upon me, saying, Fear not, I am the first
18:22and the last.
18:23I am he that liveth and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, amen, and have the
18:29keys of hell and of death.
18:32Go to John 8.
18:38Go to John 8.
18:39Where else does Jesus say he is God?
18:45Because then you'll have other people.
18:47You have some people say, well, Jesus doesn't say he's the son of God.
18:50And then they'll say, well, Jesus says he's the son of God, but he doesn't say he's God.
18:54Well, the reason they put him on the cross is because he said he's the son of God and
18:58that he said he made himself like God.
19:01Look at John 8, verse 48.
19:04I've showed you this before.
19:05This is my favorite part in the whole Bible, especially in the book of John.
19:10Then answered the Jews, that's those people in Israel, and said unto him, Say we not that
19:16thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?
19:20Jesus answered, I have not a devil, but I honor my Father, and ye do dishonor me.
19:27And I see not my own glory.
19:28There's one that seeketh and judges, verily I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he
19:34shall never see death.
19:36Then the Jews said unto him, Now we know thou hast a devil.
19:39Abraham is dead, and the prophets, and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall
19:43never taste of death.
19:45Yet art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead, and the prophets are dead,
19:50which thou makest?
19:52Jesus answered, If I honor myself, my honor is nothing.
19:57It is my Father that honoreth me, of whom ye say that he is your God.
20:03That you say that.
20:04Jesus isn't saying that.
20:06They're saying that God the Father is their God, but he's not.
20:09Yet ye have not known him, but I have known him.
20:13If I should say I know him not, then I shall be a liar like unto you.
20:17He's saying, If I should say that I don't know God the Father, I'm a liar, because you
20:21say you do know who he is.
20:24But I know him, and keep his saying.
20:26Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day, and he saw it and was glad.
20:31What are we talking about?
20:32The day that Jesus came on this earth, the day that the Savior was crucified, he would
20:38rejoice to see that, Abraham.
20:40Jesus said to the Jews and to them, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and thou hast
20:44seen Abraham.
20:45And this is my favorite part.
20:48Jesus said to them, Verily, verily, truthfully, truthfully, I say unto you, Before Abraham
20:53was, I am.
20:56Then took the stones and cast at him.
20:59Why did they do that?
21:00Why were they so mad about it?
21:01I mean, it wasn't a big deal, but saying before Abraham, I was, I am.
21:07Now the thing about this, if you put this in proper English, what would you say?
21:12Before Abraham, I was, right?
21:15I mean, that's the way proper English would be.
21:18Then they took up stones and cast at him, but then he hides himself.
21:22Keep your finger there and go to Exodus 3.
21:24Why were they so mad about this?
21:27Because in Exodus, this is the clearest place where Jesus says he is God.
21:33Now he doesn't say exactly I am God, but he is saying it in a way that's why they're
21:39so mad about it.
21:40Look at Moses.
21:43He tells Moses, look at what he tells him in Exodus 3, 10.
21:47Come now, therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth
21:50my people and the children of Israel out of Egypt.
21:53And Moses said unto God, who am I that thou shalt go unto Pharaoh, that I should bring
21:59forth the children of Israel out of Egypt.
22:01He said, who am I?
22:02He had a speech impediment.
22:04He couldn't speak very well, so he's thinking I'm not this great leader.
22:08And Moses said unto God, I'm sorry.
22:11And he said, certainly I will be with thee, this is God telling him, this shall be a token
22:16unto thee that I have sent thee, when thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt,
22:22you shall serve God upon this mountain.
22:25And Moses said unto God, behold, when I come unto the children of Israel and say unto them,
22:30the God of your father shall have sent unto you, me unto you, and they shall say to me,
22:36what is his name?
22:37What shall I say to them?
22:39So he's saying, when I come to him and I say, hey, God sent me to help you, God sent me
22:44to deliver you out of the hands of the Egyptians, he's saying, who should, what should I say?
22:49Verse 14, and God said, God said unto Moses, so he's saying, what you should say is I am
22:57that I am.
22:59And he said that thou, thus shall thou say unto the children of Israel, I am has sent
23:06you.
23:07That's what made him mad.
23:08The Jews hated that because he was saying he was God, and he's the same God that Moses
23:15was getting help from.
23:16Look at the next verse.
23:17And God said, moreover unto Moses, thou shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the
23:23Lord of God, God of your fathers, God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob
23:28has sent me unto you.
23:31This is my name forever.
23:33And this is my memorial unto all generations.
23:36So I am is the word, the name that God had for himself.
23:45So with that in mind, and you look in John eight, what do you see?
23:48Jesus is saying that I am that guy, go to Luke 18, Luke 18, it's another place where
23:56Jesus is saying he's God.
24:02Now Jehovah's false witness will use this verse sometimes, a twist that Jesus is saying
24:07he's not God, that he's denying that, but you got to look real carefully at the verse.
24:14Look at Luke 18, 18, and a certain ruler asked him, now these verses right here about this
24:22rich young ruler is twisted by Christians and is twisted by non-Christians to say what
24:30it's not saying.
24:31So let's look at it real carefully, saying good master.
24:35So he's calling Jesus good and he's calling him master, well you're not supposed to call
24:40anybody master except Jesus.
24:43What shall I do?
24:46He said, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
24:50So what do you have to do to inherit eternal life?
24:53Nothing, because Jesus did it all.
24:56So you got to think about the questions he's asking him.
24:58He's not saying, hey, what do I have to do to get eternal life?
25:01He said, what do I have to do?
25:04And Jesus said to him, why callest thou me good?
25:08He said, why are you calling me good?
25:11You call me good master.
25:13He said, none is good, save one that is God.
25:16He's saying the only person that is good, the only person that is perfect, the only
25:21person that is sinless is God.
25:24So he's not denying that he's God.
25:27He's not denying that he's good, he's saying, why are you calling me good unless you think
25:31I'm God?
25:32So the Jehovah's Witnesses think, they twist it and say, well see Jesus is denying that
25:38he's good.
25:39He's not saying that.
25:40He's saying, why are you calling me good unless you think I'm God?
25:45The other part is, is that people think that this is a works-based salvation.
25:51Thou knowest the commandments, do not commit adultery, do not kill, do not steal, do not
25:55bear false witness, honor thy father and thy mother.
25:59And he said, all these that I kept from my youth up.
26:02Now I don't really believe that he done all that.
26:05He's still a liar because everybody's a liar.
26:08Look at verse 23, 22.
26:10Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, yet lackest thou one thing, sell
26:15all that thou hast and distribute unto the poor, and they'll have treasure in heaven,
26:20and come follow me.
26:21And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful for he was very rich.
26:25Now people would twist this and say, see, this is a works-based salvation.
26:31It's not good enough to believe on Jesus because Jesus out of his own mouth is saying, the
26:35only thing that you lack if you did all these commandments is you need to go sell everything
26:41to the poor and follow me.
26:43Is that how you get saved?
26:44No, it's not.
26:45But what it is telling you is that if you want to repent of your sins and you think
26:50that you got to repent of your sins, repent of adultery and lying and stealing, you better
26:55repent of all of them because that's the only way you're going to get into heaven.
27:00Your way is by being perfect.
27:03Now obviously, this man's not perfect because we're all sinners from the beginning all the
27:07way from Adam to the last person.
27:09But what Jesus is saying when the guy says, what must I do to inherit eternal life?
27:15He's saying this is what you got to do.
27:18Let's keep reading.
27:19When he heard this, he was very sorrowful.
27:20And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, how hardly shall they have riches
27:25enter into the kingdom of God, for it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye than
27:31for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
27:34So why is that?
27:35Well, because people who have riches, they don't understand that they need Jesus Christ.
27:39They don't understand that.
27:41They think they've got everything.
27:43And they heard it said, who then can be saved?
27:46So they're looking at the story and with the situation and saying, who can be saved?
27:51Look at the next verse.
27:52This is the point.
27:53The things which are impossible with men are, I'm sorry, the things which are impossible
28:02with men.
28:03It's impossible for you to save yourself.
28:04It's impossible for you to repent of your sins.
28:07It's impossible.
28:08But without are possible with God.
28:11So he's telling them the wrong.
28:13The thing is, is that if the man had asked the right question, Jesus would have answered
28:17him right.
28:18But he said, what must I do?
28:20What must you do in your life and eternal life?
28:23Believe on Jesus.
28:24There's nothing you can do.
28:27So first of all, people question the fact.
28:29Jesus says he is God.
28:31He's the son of God.
28:32He says he is God.
28:34The fourth point is, why is Jesus called the son of God?
28:37Because he's under the authority of God the Father.
28:40Go to Philippians 2.
28:44Look at Philippians chapter 2.
28:53You know, if you have a son, he's probably, he's under your authority.
28:56If you're the father, well, Jesus is under the authority of God the Father.
29:02So he is a son of God, but he is God.
29:05But he's also under the authority of God the Father.
29:08Look at Philippians 2 verse 5.
29:12Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus, who being in the form of God,
29:20thought it not robbery to be equal with God, but made himself of no reputation.
29:26So we see throughout the Bible that Jesus Christ is not making any reputation.
29:31He doesn't have a reputation of doing anything.
29:35He constantly says, I come to do my Father's will, not my own will.
29:41So he has no reputation.
29:42Took upon the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of man, and being found in
29:50a fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death
29:56of the cross.
30:02Therefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every
30:08name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow of things in heaven, and things
30:15in earth, and things under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus
30:19Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
30:24So we see that Jesus did everything on this earth to glorify his Father.
30:29So when it says God is not, he didn't think it was robbery, it's talking about God the
30:34Father.
30:35At no point did God the Father say, well, you know, my son Jesus, he's getting all the
30:39credit here.
30:40You know, he's on the cross, they're bowing down to him, he's on the earth, nobody's thinking
30:46about me anymore.
30:47No, that's what it's saying is that he did not see it to be robbery.
30:51What would be robbery?
30:52You know, you ever think of somebody stealing somebody's thunder?
30:56God the Father's not sitting up there saying, well, my son is stealing all my thunder that
31:00I'm doing all this stuff here.
31:05He didn't say that.
31:07So let me tell you what the NIV says here, and your attitude should be the same as that
31:13of Christ Jesus, who being in the very nature God, did not consider equality with God.
31:25Nothing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant.
31:31Again, not the same thing.
31:34God's not sitting up there saying, man, my son, he's taking all my glory away.
31:38So he's under authority.
31:42Go to John, the book of John.
31:45Isn't it interesting that throughout all the Gospels, you never hear Jesus talking about
31:52doing his Father's will.
31:57It doesn't start until the book of John.
31:59We're going to go through these pretty quickly.
32:02So first, Jesus constantly says, I'm not here to do my will, but the Father's will.
32:08Look at John 434.
32:09We're going to go through these quick.
32:11John 434, Jesus says, my meat is to do the will of him that sent me and to finish his
32:20work.
32:21Let's go to John 520, one page over, John 520.
32:26For the Father has loveth the Son and showeth him all things that himself doeth, and he
32:30will show him greater works than these that you may marvel.
32:35For as the Father raises up the dead and quickeneth them, even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
32:42So again, we see Jesus doing the Father's will.
32:45Go down to verse 30 in chapter 5.
32:49I can of my own self do nothing.
32:52As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is judged because I seek not to do my own will, but
32:57the will of the Father which has sent me.
33:00Go to chapter 6, verse 37 in the book of John 637.
33:12All that the Father hath given me shall come to me, and him that cometh to me I will in
33:17no wise cast out.
33:19If I came down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me.
33:24This is the will, the Father's will, which has sent me, that all of which he hath given
33:29me I should lose nothing, but I shall raise it up at the last day.
33:34And this is the will of him that sent me, that everyone that seeth the Son and believeth
33:38on him may have an everlasting life, and I will raise him up at the last day.
33:45Go to chapter 7, verse 16.
33:51Jesus answered and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
33:57If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or
34:04whether I speak of myself.
34:07So he's saying, when I'm speaking, it sounds like it's of myself, but the doctrine's of
34:11the Father.
34:12So he's saying, if you knew that, you would know me, talking about the Jews.
34:17But he that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory.
34:21But he that seeketh his glory that sent me, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is
34:26in him.
34:31Next place, go to John 7, we're in John 7, go to John 17.
34:39So that's the will.
34:41What about glory?
34:42Well, there's several places where Jesus says he's not here to do his own glory.
34:48Look at John 17, verse 1.
34:51This is the Lord's prayer itself to me.
34:54This is where Jesus Christ is praying to God the Father.
34:58This is the only place you'll find this in the Bible.
35:00You won't find it in Matthew, Mark, or Luke.
35:03This is where Jesus himself is praying to God the Father in the Garden of Gethsemane.
35:08These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour
35:13has come.
35:14Glorify thy Son, that thy Son may also may glorify thee.
35:19And thou hast given him power over all the flesh, that he should give eternal life as
35:24to as many as given him.
35:27And this is the life eternal, that they might know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ,
35:32whom thou hast sent, and have glorified thee on the earth.
35:36I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
35:40And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self, with the glory which I had with
35:50thee before the world was.
35:52So he's saying, I'm here to do your work, but give me the glory that I had before anything
35:59was created.
36:00Go down to verse 22.
36:04And the glory which thou gavest me, I have given them, that they may be one even as we
36:09are one.
36:10He's talking to God the Father again.
36:13I in them, and thou in me, and they may be perfect in one, and that the world may know
36:19that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, and thou hast loved me.
36:24Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am, that they
36:31may behold my glory, which thou hast given me, for thou hast lovest me before the foundation
36:38of the world.
36:39Again, he's not wanting his own glory, he's wanting the glory of God the Father.
36:44He's wanting to show his glory.
36:46Number five, sometimes you see, go to John 3.16, sometimes you see, the only begotten
36:52Son.
36:53That's probably the one thing that irritates me more of these new Bible versions.
37:00You can always tell if it's King James Bible, because they'll take the only begotten out.
37:05They take the word begotten.
37:07Why do they do that?
37:09Well, the first thing is the word begotten, keep your finger there in John, and I want
37:14you to go to Genesis 5, Genesis 5.
37:20What does the word begotten mean?
37:22Well, the word begotten means that something came from something.
37:28Something came from something.
37:30Look at Genesis 5.4.
37:34So if you have a child, the child is begotten or came from you.
37:39Look at Genesis 5.4.
37:42And the days of Adam, after he had begotten Seth, were 800 years, and he begat sons and
37:47daughters.
37:48And you can go through the Bible and you'll see this person begat this person, this person
37:52begat this person.
37:53So what it's saying is, is that Seth came from Adam, means that Seth is Adam's son.
38:01And it's telling us this.
38:02We'll go back to John 3.16.
38:05So the people that look at the Bible, they look at the King James Bible, they mock it
38:10and they say, well, Jesus was not begotten from the father because he's not a created
38:15being.
38:16So since they don't understand it, they just take it out of the Bible.
38:19They just say, well, the begotten just needs to be moved out.
38:23So we'll just say that Jesus, that look at John 3.16, for God so loved the world that
38:29he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
38:36everlasting life.
38:38For God sent not a son into the world that condemned the world, but that the world through
38:42him might be saved.
38:44He that believeth on him is not condemned, but he that believeth not is condemned because
38:50he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God.
38:57So who is that?
38:58That's Jesus.
38:59He's the only begotten son of God.
39:02He's the only begotten.
39:03Well, they don't like that, so they take out begotten.
39:07So then what you have is for God so loved the world that he gave his only son, his only
39:12son.
39:13And this is why they don't like it.
39:14They say, well, I don't like that because he's not begotten.
39:18He's not created.
39:20Well, forget that.
39:21He's not created.
39:22But guess what?
39:23He's not the only son either.
39:24Go to 1 John.
39:25Keep your finger there and go to 1 John 3.
39:29Isn't it interesting that the apostle John, he explains this in detail.
39:35It's almost like God knew that they were going to change the Bible, huh?
39:41Give me a minute.
39:44This page in my Bible is ripped.
39:47Look at 1 John 3.
39:501.
39:51Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we shall be called
39:56the sons of God.
39:58Therefore the world knoweth this not, because it knew him not.
40:01Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it does not appear what we shall be.
40:08But we know that when he shall appear, talking about Jesus, we shall be like him, for we
40:14shall see him as he is.
40:17So with that in mind, the Bible is saying when you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ,
40:21you become his son of God.
40:23So with that in mind, go back to John 3.16.
40:25It doesn't make sense for it to say that Jesus is the only son, because you are a son.
40:31I'm a son.
40:33So it doesn't make sense to say only son.
40:36It doesn't make sense to take out begotten son.
40:38Both of them have to be in there.
40:40Why is that?
40:42Well, do you remember what it says in Luke 1.34 and 35?
40:47That the person that is inside of Mary is called the son of God.
40:53He's the only begotten son of God.
40:56What does that mean?
40:57Go back to 1 John 4.
41:021 John 4.
41:06How can you be the only?
41:08If you're an only child, then you're the only child that your parents have.
41:13It means that you're the only one.
41:15There's nobody ever else that's going to do that.
41:18Jesus is called the only begotten son.
41:22We know he's not a created being.
41:23We've already proven that.
41:24He's the beginning and the end.
41:26He was never created.
41:28So why is he the only begotten son?
41:30Look at 1 John 4.7.
41:35Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God, and everyone that loveth is born
41:40of God, and knoweth God.
41:42He that loveth not knoweth not God, for God is love.
41:46And this was manifested, the love of God toward us, because that God has sent his only begotten
41:52son into the world that we might live through him.
41:57So I'm here to tell you, why is that?
41:59Why is he called the only begotten?
42:01Because he's the only person, the only person to ever walk this earth that would be born
42:06of a virgin.
42:10He's the only person that's going to be born that is going to be born of a woman, but not
42:15have a man's seed.
42:18You know, the Catholics, they like to say that yes, Jesus was born of a virgin, but
42:22then they like to go even further and say that Mary, they put Mary on a pedestal, and
42:27they think that she was born of a virgin.
42:29So they think Mary's mama, whoever that is, is a virgin when she has Mary.
42:34That's false, folks.
42:35That's why he's the only begotten son.
42:38So he's the son of God.
42:40He's God in the flesh, but he's also the only begotten son.
42:44Then you have this last point.
42:46He's the first begotten.
42:48The first begotten.
42:49Go to Psalms 2.
42:50So you say, well, wait a minute, now you just threw a kink in this.
42:54How can you be the first and be the only?
42:58Is he the first and the only?
43:00That's what the Bible says.
43:05Not trying to confuse you, just trying to teach.
43:07Look at Psalm 2 verse 7, I will declare the decree the Lord had sent unto me, thou art
43:16my son, this day have I begotten thee.
43:19So what we see is there's a day that Jesus, his son, it's a capital S, that the Lord told
43:26him, my God, the father saying, I begotten thee.
43:30So what is that day?
43:31Well, go to Acts 13.
43:35Got to understand that the New Testament is the lens that we can look at through the Old
43:41Testament.
43:42So a lot of people would think that Acts 2 verse 7 is talking about the day that Jesus
43:48was born on this earth.
43:50That's the day he's begotten.
43:51That day was the day that he was begotten.
43:53Well, look at Acts 13 and let's look through that lens a little bit clearer with the New
43:59Testament.
44:00Acts 13 verse 33, God hath fulfilled the same unto us, their children, in that he has raised
44:07up Jesus again.
44:10As it is also written in the second Psalm, that's Psalm 2, thou art my son this day have
44:17I begotten thee.
44:20And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead.
44:23So why did he say that?
44:25Why is this all the way back in Psalms 2?
44:28Because the day that he raised him from the dead is talking about the day that God, the
44:32father and the Holy Spirit raised Jesus out of the grave and out of hell.
44:40No, now no more to return to corruption.
44:44He said to this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.
44:48Wherefore?
44:49He said also in another Psalm, thou shall not suffer the holy one to see corruption.
44:57What is that came from Psalm 1610.
45:00So in one Psalm he's saying this day have I begotten thee because God, the father and
45:05the Holy Spirit pulled Jesus's soul out of hell, out of the dead.
45:11So he's the first begotten.
45:14Go to Hebrews 1.
45:17Hebrews 1 verse 5, for unto which of the angels said he at any time, thou art my son
45:32this day have I begotten thee.
45:34So when it's talking about a day and talking about him being the first begotten, what are
45:39we talking about?
45:40We're going to see that in a minute.
45:41And again, I will be to him a father and he shall be to me a son.
45:46And no time he told any angel that because angels are not sons of God.
45:50They're ministering spirits.
45:53And again, when he brings in the first begotten into the world, he said, and let all the angels
45:59of God worship him and the angels, he said, who make of his angel spirits and his ministers
46:04a flame of fire.
46:06So whenever they're bringing Jesus into the world, the first begotten, he's the only begotten.
46:11He's the son of God.
46:12And he's the first begotten.
46:14When they're saying that the angels are rejoicing because now Jesus gave his life for us.
46:21Go to Hebrews 5.
46:23Again, Hebrews 5, 5.
46:27So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest, but he that said unto
46:32him, thou art my son today have I begotten thee.
46:37So that day is the day that we're talking about one day.
46:42What is that?
46:43Look at 1 Corinthians 15.
46:47There's a day on time.
46:50We keep saying a day, one day.
46:53It's not the day that Jesus was put into Mary.
47:00They rejoiced in two, but look at 1 Corinthians 15 verse 20, 1 Corinthians 15, 20.
47:10But now is Christ risen from dead and now become the first fruits of them that slept.
47:17So what is the first fruit?
47:18Well, if you go back to the Old Testament, we're supposed to get the first fruits.
47:22When something's growing, you're supposed to get the first 10% to God.
47:27When you had an animal that was born, you're supposed to get the first 10% to God.
47:32That's what you're supposed to do.
47:34And that's what's called the first fruits.
47:38For since man by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
47:43For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
47:49But every man in his order.
47:51So this is the order.
47:52Christ, the first fruits at the word they that are Christ at his coming.
47:58So here's the first, the first begotten, the first fruits is Jesus Christ.
48:03He's the first one to be resurrected.
48:06And then we will.
48:08So it's talking about he's the first begotten and then go to first Peter one.
48:16So Jesus Christ is called the first begotten because he's the first person that has been
48:21resurrected.
48:28First Peter one.
48:34We see the second fruits, the third fruits is what look at first Peter one, three, bless
48:39be the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath
48:47begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead
48:54to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled that the fadeth not away reserved in heaven
49:00for you.
49:01So we're saying bless me to God, the father and Jesus Christ, because Jesus was the first
49:06begotten and then Jesus, we will be begotten just like Jesus means that would be raised
49:12up.
49:13Go to Revelation one last book in the Bible.
49:18In chapter one, I get revelation one, five and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful
49:34witness and the first begotten of the dead and the prince of the kings of the earth and
49:40to him that love has loved us and washers from our sins and his own blood and has made
49:48his kings and priests and God in his and his father to him be glory and dominion forever
49:53and ever.
49:54Amen.
49:55So what do we see?
49:57We see that Jesus is God.
50:00We see that Jesus says he's the son of God.
50:03We see that Jesus is the son of man made about 90 sometimes he says he's the son of man.
50:08Why does he say that?
50:10Well because he was part of a woman which makes him part of a man.
50:16They could touch him.
50:17They could feel him.
50:18We see where he's hungry.
50:20He's crying.
50:21He's weeping.
50:22He feels pain.
50:24No God doesn't do that.
50:25But man does.
50:27We see that he's also the son of God.
50:29He's the son of man.
50:30But he's 100% man and he's 100% God.
50:34All these attributes is what God is, what Jesus Christ is and what we don't what is
50:39hard for us to understand.
50:41And you may say, well, that's hard for me to understand.
50:44That's OK.
50:45It's hard for everybody to understand.
50:47If you understood everything in the Bible that was preached, you know what?
50:50You would make yourself God.
50:52But what we need to understand is go to 1 John 4.
50:59This is the last place that we'll go to.
51:021 John 4.
51:06So we just need to believe.
51:09You know, one guy said, help my unbelief.
51:12So we just need to believe that Jesus is God because God had to die for your sins and
51:17that's Jesus Christ.
51:18But he wasn't dead forever.
51:20So he came on this earth to be the only begotten son means he's the only one to ever be born
51:26of a virgin birth.
51:27He's the only one that God, the Holy Spirit, is ever going to put inside of a woman.
51:32He's the only one.
51:33Oh, not only that, he's the first begotten, means he's the first person to be raised from
51:41the dead.
51:42God, the Father and the Holy Spirit raised him from the dead and pulled him out of hell.
51:48And then he's risen forevermore.
51:50But look at 1 John 4, verse 3.
51:59And every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God.
52:05So any religion that says, hey, I don't believe that Jesus is God and he's in the flesh.
52:11They're not of God.
52:12You can't say, well, I believe these people are of God, like the Jews, do they confess
52:18that Jesus Christ has come in flesh?
52:20No, they still think he's burning in hell.
52:23They're not of God.
52:24And I wish people would understand it.
52:26I wish Christians would quit saying those people over there, they believe in the same
52:31God.
52:32They do not.
52:33They believe in the devil.
52:34That's who they're worshiping.
52:35And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, of Antichrist, little a, means that any spirit,
52:42any religion, any religion out there that does not believe that Jesus is God in the
52:47flesh is a Antichrist, not against Christ, but it's more in the place of Christ.
52:53And it's a little G, not a big G.
52:57Wherever you have heard that it should come now already is in the world.
53:01And again, just to reiterate that, you go to 2 John, verse 7, many deceivers are entered
53:08into the world who confess not that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh.
53:12This is a deceiver and an Antichrist.
53:14So again, a deceiver and an Antichrist, a religion in the place of Jesus Christ is one
53:21that does not confess that Jesus Christ is in the flesh.
53:25So he's God.
53:26He's a son of God.
53:28He's a son of man.
53:29He's a son of God.
53:30Both.
53:31He's a hundred percent man, a hundred percent God.
53:33He's a only begotten, and he's also the first begotten.
53:38These are things that are hard to understand, I admit, but we just have to believe it because
53:42that's what the Bible teaches.
53:43Let's bow our heads and have a word of prayer.
