00:00A new technology that can help the government to respond in times of emergency is what it is known as.
00:09How is it used in times of danger?
00:12Let's watch this.
00:14In times of emergency, we usually call the emergency hotline to ask for help.
00:21But due to the complicated system of responding to distress calls,
00:26sometimes it takes more than an hour for help to arrive.
00:32But did you know that there is a solution to this?
00:35This is the use of the Next Generation Advanced 911 System,
00:39a new technology from the United States,
00:42which has recently started trials in the Philippine National Police.
00:47NGA 911 System is the first next generation technology in the Philippines, possibly in Asia.
00:55It's essentially the technology that is being used in the United States.
01:00It's not only in foreign films that you can watch the rapid response to disaster, medical emergency, and crime.
01:07Because it's possible and it's also being done in the Philippines.
01:12In a trial conducted by the PNP using the NGA 911 System,
01:18the response of the authorities to distress calls was fast.
01:22The response time of the PNP, previously on the average, is about one and a half hours.
01:29We just launched this system, the Next Generation 911 System in the PNP,
01:34and the response time was cut down.
01:36It's as short as four minutes, which is the standard of the United States.
01:40This is only the beginning. I know that our system will get better.
01:45Caller from 911, re-alleged amok.
01:48The location is Erwin Garcia, Corbett Fifth Avenue, Barangay E. Rodriguez, Quezon City.
01:54Our technology will now have the capability of dynamically routing these calls
02:03to the closest command center of a local government unit, cutting at least two or three steps.
02:10Aside from the fast response, the 911 system will also help to gather the right data
02:17for a more strategic emergency response and to have a long-term solution to the community's problems.
02:25The impact is a major upgrade to public safety.
02:29They will receive a very clear, filtered call for emergency response.
02:36That call will have a location that's attached to it, and they will know exactly where you're located,
02:42which gives them a lot of options in terms of response.
02:46Public safety is not only the duty of the government and the private sector.
02:51The role of the citizens here is also important.
02:54We have been able to achieve what we have achieved here in the Philippines
03:00because of the leadership, the government's leadership here.
03:04Specifically, the Secretary Abalos has provided and cleared the path for success here.
03:13Really, public safety and success of public safety is an understanding
03:18that it's a collaboration amongst many stakeholders, including public and private,
03:23working together with a single purpose, and that is to give you the incredible response
03:30when and where you need it when you dial 911.
03:33Although there are unavoidable incidents, such as calamities,
03:37it is still important to have a fast and efficient emergency response
03:41because every second is important for the safety of every victim.
