A tiger has attacked its handler at dreamworld on Queensland’s Gold Coast, injuring her arm.

00:00One of Dreamworld's senior tiger handlers has been taken to hospital after an incident
00:08involving one of the park's tigers.
00:11The Queensland Ambulance Service arrived at the park to find that the 47-year-old woman
00:16had serious lacerations and puncture wounds to her arm.
00:21They said she was pale and feeling unwell, but that her bleeding had been managed well
00:26by first aid on site.
00:28So the patient obviously had received some serious lacerations and puncture wounds from
00:33the animal.
00:35She was quite pale and feeling unwell, but generally well and was able to be transported
00:40to hospital.
00:41There's always a risk of infection from any animal bite and that will be part of her treatment
00:44regime from the hospital.
00:46The trainer was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital at around 9 o'clock this
00:52morning where the hospital will manage any infection risk.
00:56In a statement, Dreamworld says it's an isolated and rare incident and it'll be conducting
01:03a review into what happened.
01:05But at the moment, its immediate focus is now on supporting its injured staff member.
01:12The theme park has nine tigers in total, which make up its Tiger Island exhibit.
01:18That exhibit advertises itself as a way for customers to get mere centimetres away from
01:23the creature.
