Daylesford match-winner Jordan Schroder on the Bulldogs' semi-final win over Hepburn
Transcript
00:00Jordan, an absolute heart-stopping finish, what was it like out there for the last quarter
00:07in particular?
00:08A bit of a grind, but me and Jonesy just had a plan and we stuck to it and it seemed to
00:12pay off, so it was good.
00:13Well I'm pleased you brought that up because I was going to bring that up in just a moment.
00:17The combination of yourself and big Ben Jones in that last term, particularly in that pocket,
00:25I think it was about five stoppages that he put the ball on your hands each time, two
00:30incredible goals, turned the game on its head, you put the Bulldogs in front and that was
00:37enough in a tight game.
00:38Yeah, that was it, that was the plan, just nice and close, run through and get the ball
00:41going our way and it paid off pretty well.
00:45Where were the defenders?
00:46I mean, what happened?
00:47Did Hepburn just say, just stand aside, or what was the game?
00:49No, they were there, but they just probably a bit slippery, slipped off and worked out
00:53well for me.
00:54How tough were the conditions out there, a low-scoring game, obviously there was wind,
00:58there was rain, slippery ball, a bit of mud, and it looks like you love the mud because
01:02you're covered in it, but it certainly wasn't easy out there.
01:06No, it was very slippery, it's hard to get your hands on the ball and control it, so
01:10it was just a bit of a slop of a game, but a bit of a grind, but that's what we like,
01:13so it was good to get the result.
01:15Yeah, for sure.
01:16Now what was the message at three-quarter time?
01:17You're kicking with what should be the scoring end, but it really hadn't proved that during
01:22the day, the wind was going to that end of the ground, but it didn't seem to be decisive
01:27on the scoreboard.
01:28What was the message at three-quarter time?
01:30You're behind, you need to do something.
01:33Yeah, we just wanted to stay in touch in that third quarter, and I think it was a couple
01:36of goals, and we were pretty happy with that, considering it was a bit of a breeze, but
01:41so we thought we could make that margin up pretty comfortably, and yeah, it was just
01:44stick to it and keep going as we've been going.
01:46How have you found your year at Dales right now?
01:49Of course, you're on top of the world, it's a good place to be, but come back to footy
01:54this year, country footy, new club, with a few mates.
01:57Yeah, I have.
01:58I had a couple of Burnham's boys up here, so I've come up with them, Chris Beard and
02:01Benny Jones, and I've loved it.
02:02I've loved meeting all the people up here, they've all been fantastic, so looking forward
02:06to coming back and playing again next year.
02:07Right, so a big game, but in the meantime, hopefully you've got two more games, you've
02:12got Skipton next week, and no doubt you're fired up for that.
02:15Yeah, can't wait for the prelim next week.
