00:14Yes, I'm here.
00:16I thought you were here too.
00:19Grandma, we're here.
00:21You're free now, Grandma.
00:28Thank you, God. Thank you, God.
00:34Thank you, God.
00:37Through the Bureau of Corrections,
00:40President Aquino gave the parole to Grandma Petra.
00:46Finally, Grandma is free.
00:52We dedicate this award to Grandma Petra.
00:55Our Montingdokyo about the grandmothers of Dorm 12
00:59won an award at the New York Film Festival in 2016.
01:06A sweet victory.
01:08But for me,
01:11the freedom of the remaining grandmothers
01:14is the real victory.
01:17When will it come?
01:2610 years have passed.
01:29How are the grandmothers of Dorm 12?
01:33How is Grandma Petra?
01:37I first met Grandma in 2014.
01:41In a remote barangay in Baguio City,
01:44I met Grandma Petra.
01:49Grandma!
01:52Grandma!
01:55She can't hear me.
02:02Do you remember me?
02:07Grandma!
02:11How are you?
02:13Do you remember me?
02:16Cara David!
02:17Away!
02:20She said yes.
02:22Right, Cara David?
02:26How are you?
02:34Are you going to cry? Don't cry.
02:39Don't cry.
02:42Grandma Petra is now 100 years old.
02:47She can't walk, and it's hard for her to speak.
02:51But she still has a clear mind.
02:54Do you still remember me?
02:57She said she remembers you.
03:01She said thank you.
03:02I was surprised that Grandma still remembers me
03:05even though we haven't seen each other for 10 years.
03:10According to her children,
03:12their mother loves to watch television.
03:15What does she always say?
03:17She always tells me stories about how she used to get close to a snake.
03:27She told me that story.
03:29And what did she say?
03:31She said that I was the one who used to get close to her
03:35so that she wouldn't be afraid of me.
03:40Grandma Petra will be a farmer.
03:42On the day of her release,
03:44she had no other request but to return to farming.
03:49When she came back here after her release,
03:51did she still be able to walk?
03:53Yes, she was able to walk.
03:54She was able to walk?
03:55Yes, she was able to walk.
03:56She was able to farm.
03:59Oh, really?
04:00Actually, she was the one who planted the crotons here.
04:04But as the years passed by,
04:09Grandma slowly became weak.
04:11It's okay, it's okay, it's okay.
04:19Yes, yes, yes, yes.
04:21Until she was no longer able to walk.
04:24There you go.
04:25There you go.
04:26There you go.
04:27There you go.
04:28There you go.
04:29Until she was no longer able to walk.
04:32There you go.
04:33There you go.
04:40Grandma Petra is a single mother.
04:46She raised her children alone.
04:49Grandma Petra is a single mother.
04:54That is why her siblings sacrificed so much for their mother.
04:59I prayed that she would not die.
05:03I prayed that she would not die.
05:05I prayed that she would not live to be 10 years old.
05:12I am having a hard time taking care of her.
05:15I don't want to lose her.
05:18I want to see her again.
05:24There you go.
05:25We're going to sunbathe.
05:27I know you really want to sunbathe.
05:31Every day, they take Grandma Petra out to explore the sky.
05:42This is Grandma's favorite thing to do every day.
05:49We used to do this inside the Correctional Building.
05:54We would sit outside and sunbathe.
05:58The sky was covered with a piece of sky that was not covered by the walls of the hospital.
06:07I also remember that aside from Grandma Petra,
06:10there was another old woman that I always took out to sunbathe.
06:15Her name was Grandma Rose.
06:21She was sick, blind, and barely able to walk.
06:27Within 11 years, no one visited Grandma Rose.
06:35She had no other wish but to see her child in another country.
06:41She asked me if she could call her.
06:46It's time for me to leave.
06:49I don't know where I am going.
06:51I don't know what will happen to me.
06:54I always pray, pray, pray to God.
07:00My voice is ridiculous.
07:02I might have forgotten.
07:06For almost 11 years, I think.
07:11I don't know how I will be able to endure her torture.
07:16I couldn't do anything but hug the old woman.
07:21I will never forget you.
07:23Kara.
07:25I love you, Ms. Kara.
07:28I love you too, Grandma.
