00:00:00Well, the weather's been so hit and miss here at Snetterton this weekend, but it looks like
00:00:12we are set for a dry feature race in the Bennett's British Superbike Championship to wrap up
00:00:17the action for the main class here. As you can see, blue sky is just about breaking through
00:00:21and it is dry here at the front of the grid. What kind of race is that going to give us,
00:00:26James?
00:00:27I think it will give us a good one. I mean, we've just had great races and you can hear
00:00:30my voice so far this weekend, haven't we? So, it'd be lovely to have a full dry superbike
00:00:34race.
00:00:35Glenn Irwin starts from pole position after taking the win in a shortened race earlier
00:00:40on today. Shane, do you think you'll be confident? Well, he will be confident, he's always confident,
00:00:45but do you think he can convert that to the longer distance?
00:00:47I think it's going to be interesting, this race, with Tommy starting on the front row
00:00:51alongside of him. You know, it's going to be close. You know, Glenn had an objective
00:00:56in that race earlier on this morning. You know, he knew that Tommy was a little bit
00:00:59down in the first part of the race. He needed to get the jump. Obviously, from a championship
00:01:03point of view, it's really important. But the five-lap sprint, you know, Tommy messed
00:01:07up the start and that cost him dearly over those five laps. He's got a little bit more
00:01:10time today in this feature race. He can be a bit more patient and Tommy's looked strong
00:01:14throughout the weekend. So, I think it's going to be a lot closer to this one than it was
00:01:17this morning.
00:01:18Well, the other big difference, James, is that he starts just behind us here from the
00:01:21front row of the grid rather than 16th. He did such a good job in that split race earlier
00:01:27to make his way through.
00:01:28He did an amazing job to get through to where he did. So, to start again from the second
00:01:35race and to get on that podium. So, and the other person is really kind of going on the
00:01:39radio a bit. It's Christie, isn't he? You know, another podium, you know, he's obviously
00:01:42got a winner not killed. He's starting in the middle of the front row. So, this is really
00:01:47setting it up. Don't forget the OMG Yamaha's either. Both of those boys desperate for some
00:01:51more points.
00:01:52I was just about to say, you could bet your money on quite a lot of people in this race.
00:01:55Ryan Vickers has looked fantastic all weekend. He looks so, so smooth on that bike. Kyle
00:01:59Wright's done a great job, as you said. Christian, you know, there's so many of them that you
00:02:02could think to yourself, I could be a good race for this one. Do you know what I mean?
00:02:04I just feel like, it just feels like, I think Tommy Bridewell's the man, yeah. But for some
00:02:10reason, I just think he's the one that really over the long distance is going to take it
00:02:14to him the most.
00:02:15In the context of the championship, there seems to be something developing here now with these
00:02:19three guys. They were on the podium together earlier today. They're on the front row together
00:02:23right now.
00:02:24Yeah, very much so. They're all riding superbly. And, you know, we just got such a grid full
00:02:29of quality talent. It's fantastic.
00:02:32You're looking at me for a comment then.
00:02:33Well, I was going to ask you about the Yamaha's for Kyle and Vickers, actually, because talking
00:02:39about the championship, this is one of those places where they do have the tools to fight.
00:02:44Yeah, I mean, traditionally, you might say that the Yamaha wasn't necessarily the bike
00:02:49that you'd want to be on at this round. I mean, the Ducati and the Honda both have a
00:02:52little bit, I would say, James, wouldn't you, and BMW's maybe in top speed over the Yamaha's.
00:02:56But the Yamaha over the course of a season has always been a fantastic package. And,
00:03:01you know, them guys have put it to good use. But, yeah, Ryan Vickers started the season
00:03:04with a double victory, didn't he? Then his championship campaign's gone a little bit
00:03:07off the rails. But he was, you know, quite excited at the beginning of this weekend to
00:03:10turn things around and sort of make this his comeback, if you know what I mean.
00:03:14All right, let's get the thoughts of the riders then as they prepare to go out for this one
00:03:18there. Wits, amongst us, somewhere there for us.
00:03:20Yeah, what we want is a good dry race. I think this is going to be a bit of a grudge match
00:03:24between Glenn Irwin and Tommy Bradwell, both on the front row up there. This is middle
00:03:28of the second row. This is Danny Kent. Danny, solid weekend-ish, given the fact that everybody's
00:03:34jumping off here and there. So a good race last time out.
00:03:37No, it really has been a difficult weekend. A bit bad and bruised from the two crashes
00:03:41yesterday. But I feel good on the bike. It's just a usual problem that we have. Like, we
00:03:47get on the back of someone and we're stuck behind them and just trying to find a place
00:03:51to pass them. Made a few changes for this race. Feeling good. Just trying to get a good
00:03:55start and hang in there.
00:03:56I'm just going to say, what you need is a good start. Go well, lad.
00:03:58Yeah, cheers, mate.
00:03:59Right, front row. We've just about got time for front row. Tommy Bradwell on the right-hand
00:04:04side of the front row, set up nicely, really played his cards well to put himself in this
00:04:10position. You said after the previous race today that you didn't just go out of enough
00:04:15time. I think you pushed a little bit hard to try and get on the back of Glenn as well,
00:04:18if you're honest opinion. It didn't work. You took the sort of safe option in the end.
00:04:22Championship-wise, that works really well. But now this is a straight fight, this one,
00:04:25I think.
00:04:26Yeah, yeah. We actually had an issue in the restart, to be honest. The tyre temperature
00:04:32was considerably incorrect, shall we say. But I was trying to override to compensate
00:04:40for what I was losing on the exit. I was going so much more wheelspin. But I feel good. The
00:04:44bike's working well. And I think now, if all is good, then we'll be strong.
00:04:49Good luck, lad.
00:04:50Thank you.
00:04:51Yeah, a pensive Tommy there, middle of the front row. And the lad said it in the build-up
00:04:56just now. I've been really impressed, like they have with this fellow. This is Christian
00:05:00Hidden. Solid, solid weekend and solid season so far, except for a bit of a slip-up at Donning.
00:05:06Yeah, that race before was nice. It was short and sweet. First time I went to my pit board,
00:05:11it was two laps to go. I was like, all right, we're nearly done then. So yeah, I don't really
00:05:15know what to expect from this one, if I'm honest with you. It's a very different prospect
00:05:18to what we had before. So yeah, just a case of suck it and see, I guess.
00:05:21I think it's going to stay dry. And I think it's going to come down to a sort of four,
00:05:25maybe five-way battle, myself.
00:05:26Yeah, it's definitely going to be a good battle. It's clear that Glenn and Tommy have got great
00:05:30pace, but so has Danny, Kyle, Ryan. I can add another ten if you want.
00:05:34And others.
00:05:35Exactly. So yeah, just a case of trying to get a clean first few laps and then just settle
00:05:39in and get your groove.
00:05:40And you actually have a plan. I mean, you've looked pretty settled all year, but certainly
00:05:44that last race, you looked settled. You looked like you were thinking about things a little
00:05:47bit and coming up with plans.
00:05:48I have a plan. I'm struggling to find time to breathe. Not quite at the pace where I
00:05:54can fully formulate a plan just yet. We're getting there.
00:05:57Good luck.
00:05:58Thank you.
00:05:59Right, I want to try and get a word with Glenn if I can. Sometimes Glenn is super concentrated
00:06:03on the grid. Glenn, played your cards absolutely perfect in that last one. You knew what you
00:06:09had to do. You ended it perfectly.
00:06:11Thank you. The boys have worked very good and they gave me something that, you know,
00:06:16when you also bring the best version of yourself together, you can go and do stuff like that.
00:06:21So yeah, it's been a very enjoyable weekend. That race was as good a feeling as getting
00:06:26a good result in the wet yesterday. And now I feel focused. Hopefully we get a nice long
00:06:30race here without any red flags and we can play maybe a different game. I don't know
00:06:36yet. We have to assess the race and just win it in whatever way you win it.
00:06:41A dry race would be a nice one. Good luck, Glenn.
00:06:43Thank you, mate. Cheers. Thank you.
00:06:45That's it. I think blue skies over there. I actually think for once, and I think it
00:06:49be the first time all weekend, we are going to get a fully dry race and I can't wait to
00:06:53see it. There's going to be, I reckon, five people, three on the front row, maybe Kyle
00:06:58of the second, maybe Danny Kent as well. I think this is going to be absolutely fantastic.
00:07:05Well, we've had tasters of it all weekend, haven't we? It's been an enjoyable weekend
00:07:09since Glenn Irwin. For the riders, it has been for us too, but the best is yet to come.
00:07:14If we get full distance, it will be a 16-lapper in BSB after the break.
00:08:04It's round five of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship for 2024 and it has been quite
00:08:20the story so far. Two five-lap dashes that we've had, but hopefully, as James Whittam
00:08:26said, we're going to get a fully dry race at last here at Sunny Snetterton. The weather
00:08:32demons have been at it, but who stands a step at the end of this 16-lap battle? Yesterday,
00:08:39Storm Stacey climbed to the top step for the first time in his career, but earlier on,
00:08:44Glenn Irwin punched his way back to the top of the podium and the top of the championship.
00:08:50Just two points separate him and his old foe, Tommy Bridewell, but it's still mighty close.
00:08:56Kyle Rye, Danny Kent all there, as well as Christian Iden. The top five at the moment
00:09:01look like the cream of the crop. What have we got here in store in this next race? They've
00:09:07not had that much dry track time. Glenn Irwin is on pole, Iden second, with Bridewell in
00:09:12third, your top three in the championship. Kyle Rye heads row two ahead of Danny Kent
00:09:17and Andy Irwin. It's Vickers on home turf, seventh ahead of Nesbitt and O'Halloran with
00:09:23Josh Brooks, Fred O'Byrne and Lee Jackson, tenth, eleventh and twelfth. They're followed
00:09:28by Buchan, Cook and Hickman. Storm Stacey, after his heroic yesterday, starts from sixteenth
00:09:33ahead of Lewis Rollo, with Haslam, eighteenth, a rotten weekend for him. Harrison, nineteenth,
00:09:39Neve, twentieth, Olsen, twenty-first, with Hedger, Elliott and Van Scylrus on row eight.
00:09:44James Urbac, Rory Skinney yesterday, a crash at Corham's unfortunately, a broken tip and
00:09:49fib, we understand. Yeah, we heard last night he broke his tip and fib, that's both bones
00:09:54in the low leg. Just had word from Sid Blater that he's having both pinned, even as we speak
00:10:00this afternoon. One will be pinned and one will be plated, that's how it works. Apparently
00:10:05the break is way above the ankle and way below the knee, so that's really good. He's in safe
00:10:10hands at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, not too far away from here. Best wishes Rory
00:10:15and we hope to have you back soon. Well, the jackets are out now, a lot of looking up at
00:10:20the skies so far this weekend. Yeah, it's really warm and honestly, I know I'm a bit
00:10:25of a blind optimist, but I do think we're going to get a dry race. There's lots of blue
00:10:29sky on its way, so let's hope, eh? Yeah, let's hope. At the moment, the Brollies are down.
00:10:35Fair play to everybody that's been out there this weekend. And there's been plenty of them.
00:10:39Yeah, they have. Not just the fans, but to all of the marshals, the medics and of course
00:10:44all of our camera team as well. There's been a lot of water in the works so far this weekend.
00:10:49Let's see if we can get 16 laps in here for the third race of the weekend in British Superbike
00:10:54Round 5 at Snetterton in Norfolk. Glenn Irwin, what a ride that was earlier, James. Knew
00:11:02we had to do and he actually put the plan into action perfectly. Let's see whether it's
00:11:07a proper ding-dong here between him and Tommy Bridewell again. It ties up the last 16 laps
00:11:12coming up. Glenn Irwin on pole, all three of the front row go away well, particularly
00:11:17Christian Iden number 21 on the motor repeater to Katty. Tommy Bridewell's got the inside
00:11:21line. Kyle Ryde's coming through as well as Danny Kent, but it's going to be Iden that
00:11:24squeezes through to take the lead and also a good ride from the OMG rider. Was that Kyle
00:11:29Ryde? That was Kyle Ryde just slicing through, yep. So Ryde is up into second place. Now
00:11:32into Wilson Corner, a tight approach for Christian Iden, but he leads still. Oh, there's a few
00:11:37people being picked up around there, that's natural. Yeah, that's actually not too bad.
00:11:41That's, er, first lap, that's always a sketchy corner, is that slow corner. Glenn Irwin then
00:11:45from pole, he's back to fourth and just behind him is Tommy Bridewell. So good start there
00:11:51from Christian Iden, he leads. Yeah, this is the start that Danny Kent needed. Well,
00:11:55we've said how many times this year, we've said Danny Kent needs the start. He knows
00:11:59it, and this may be the one he needs. The problem is that the Yamaha just doesn't have
00:12:04the punch to put you in a position to get past on the brakes down many of the straights.
00:12:07I will say, Danny Kent looked very good in these similar conditions to this in warm-up
00:12:11earlier on. He was the fastest rider out there. Danny Kent's next Moto 2, er, Moto
00:12:163, sorry, World Champ. That means corner speed. This place is constant radius, all about corner
00:12:20speed. Very European in its feel, and the Yamaha likes that kind of thing as well, so.
00:12:25On to the back straight we go for the first time. Danny Kent there in the slipstream of
00:12:28fellow Yamaha rider Kyle Ryde. He's got the inside line, and he's going to move up into
00:12:32second. Yep. Good start from Danny Kent then. He's up into P2. Yeah, you can run a little
00:12:37bit wider on the left because there's nobody going to get under you between the left and
00:12:42the right. Into the bomb hole now. Great opening lap from Christian Idden from the front row.
00:12:47Perfect start for him. Around Corham Curve, it's Idden, Kent, Kyle Ryde, and then it's
00:12:52Irwin and Bridewell. They look very close together there in fourth and fifth. There
00:12:56you can see Bridewell likes the move into Murray's, but he pulled better of it on this
00:13:00occasion. Yeah, they've got 16 laps, we think, unless, er, the rain does come in, er, this
00:13:05time. Only had five laps to try and catch Glenn Irwin, his championship rival, in the
00:13:09previous race today, and it wasn't enough. Kyle Ryde retaliating. It's quite bumpy going
00:13:14in there, you know, you can still find yourself, er, trying to get under somebody on the brakes
00:13:17and then just missing it a little bit yourself. Not so for Kyle Ryde. Good move. Double apex
00:13:21right-hander as well. Yes, it is. Can he recover there? Yes, you can. It's the second apex
00:13:25that's the most important. So, around Wilson Corner, Turn 2. Flip wide there for Andy Irwin
00:13:29a bit further back. He's, er, along with Jason O'Halloran. That's there, Glenn Irwin. Thought
00:13:34about a move. You've got to be bold and brave to put one on someone into Turn 3. Yeah, I
00:13:38think we're going to see Glenn Irwin getting past after the, er, little bits of straight
00:13:42because, there you go, look, he can just put himself in a position where, oh, boy, that
00:13:47was tight. Very tight. I think they probably touched there. Yeah. Irwin and Danny Kent.
00:13:51Er, yeah, Irwin went up the inside. Danny Kent had to react a couple of times. Sometimes
00:13:54you can feel somebody rubbing on your knee. Slightly wide there on the exit from Christian
00:13:58Iduk, the race leader. Yeah, he's pushing on. Still second for Kyle Ryde. Glenn Irwin
00:14:02in his third. Now, he'll reel in Kyle Ryde on that Yamaha. If he can get good drive out
00:14:07of Williams Corner, Turn 7. Yeah. Good drive out of Williams onto the straight. Er, Ducay,
00:14:11we know he's quick down the straight. I think he's going to be in a position by the end
00:14:14of this straight to maybe have a little bit of a look. So far, so good for Christian Iduk.
00:14:18A winner at Knock Hill last time. Winner here at Snetterton before as well. He's out ahead
00:14:23of Kyle Ryde. He's looking strong. He's having a much better weekend here at Snetterton than
00:14:27he had in Scotland. Much better season is, er, Christian Iduk. He's having a cracking
00:14:32season with the team. So, in third place there, Glenn Irwin. And just coming under
00:14:37threat now is Danny Kent. We mentioned a minute ago, Tommy Bridewell likes a move around Coroman
00:14:42into Murrays. Is he shaping up one now on Danny Kent? No. No. That is his signature
00:14:47move, though, this weekend. Ryan Vickers is there as well. I think on the exit there,
00:14:51a bit scrappy from Kyle Ryde just out of Murrays. Over the line we go again. Glenn Irwin. I
00:14:56think Kyle Ryde lost a bit of momentum at Murrays and that's allowed Glenn Irwin through.
00:15:00Yep. I think you're right. So, into Ritchie's corner. Ryan Irwin with the fastest lap of
00:15:04the race at 48.2. And now he hunts down fellow Ducati rider Christian Iduk. Tommy Bridewell
00:15:09has seen Irwin move and he wants to pick up a place. He's going to go for the block pass.
00:15:13Neatly done. It was very neat. It was a block pass, yes, but it didn't run wide. It didn't
00:15:18cause Danny Kent any problems, really, other than the fact he put him back a place. Ryder
00:15:22just going wide through to him, too, was Charlie Nesbitt. He's back in ninth behind Andy Irwin
00:15:26and O'Halloran. Brooks is 10th, Buck in 11th, Cook in 12th. Now it's two, turn four. Agostini's.
00:15:32It's hidden still from Irwin, Ryde and Bridewell. Danny Kent, then, despite that good start,
00:15:40has just been punched back to fifth for now. Yeah, it's a little bit unfortunate because
00:15:45he's unable to drag him up out on the sort of fast and flowing mid-corner. You see how
00:15:50quick it is mid-corner, that Yamaha with Danny on, to give himself the breathing space not
00:15:56to be passed by the slightly quicker bikes by the end of the straight. Not that we've
00:15:59had full-distance racers yet, but what we have seen so far this year as well is Kent
00:16:03is very good at maintaining that tyre throughout the race as well. Yes, he is. He's easy on
00:16:07the throttle. Typical small bike, mid-corner speed rider. So, through Brundle and Nelson
00:16:14we go. Hidden, still out front, still leading. Lap three of 16 into the bomb hole. Done a
00:16:19fine job so far. Not had anyone's front wheel shown to him as yet. Difficult to see on the
00:16:26screen, but that bomb hole is a real dip. The bike almost bombs out when you go into
00:16:30it. It's a real, it is a hole. Again, Tommy Bridewell thinking about the move on Kyle
00:16:37Rye, but not able to execute it. Yeah, Tommy knows he's got time. He's looking at what's
00:16:40happening in front of him. Yes, his championship rival, Glenn Irwin, is in front of him, but
00:16:45he's not getting away and he's not able to put a move on your leader, Christian Hidden.
00:16:49I think Tommy's probably quite happy with his pace, so there's no rush yet. That's a
00:16:54bit more like it. Josh Brooks, the FHO Racing BMW rider, has put in the fastest lap of
00:16:58the race. Tommy Bridewell then does make his move now. Into turn two, he's sapped up Kyle
00:17:03Ryder now. Danny Kent fancies a piece of the action as well. Yeah, that was kind of alright.
00:17:08I'm sure that Kyle Ryder will say it was a bit of a naughty, but it was clean, didn't
00:17:12run wide. If somebody comes past you and takes your line and still makes the apex, no problem.
00:17:17It's good enough. If somebody runs you dead wide, then they can't stop. It's a different
00:17:21thing. Into turn four, looked a bit tight just behind there between Rye Kent and Ryan
00:17:26Vickers. Lap four at 16, Hidden leads. There we see the three Yamahas. Kyle Ryder, number
00:17:3577, McCamish Yamaha, Danny Kent, number 52, and Ryan Vickers, number seven. Yeah, Vickers
00:17:40been probably the quickest of the three at this point. Josh Brooks then, fastest lap
00:17:46of the race. He's in ninth at the moment behind Andy Irwin and Jason O'Halloran. We
00:17:51saw Brooks fighting at the sharp end of races. Lap four at 16, plenty of time for things
00:17:55to change. Still though, Hidden out front, not been shown a wheel by Glenn Irwin. He's
00:17:59not, and like I said, Tommy Bridewell doesn't need to panic. He's not a panicker. I think
00:18:04he did a little bit in the previous race in the five lap dash. Seemed to push the front
00:18:09a little bit, but I don't think he needs to know now. I don't think he knows. That was
00:18:13nice from Kyle Ryder. He had some good drive out of Elson Corner and had the inside line
00:18:18on the approach to the bomb holes, though he's gone back through on Danny Kent. Yeah,
00:18:22but all the time, they're locking horns. The leading three are getting away. Yeah, they
00:18:28need them all to engage in battle, don't they? Exactly. Yeah, side by side, the Yamahas.
00:18:32There's Tommy Bridewell with good slipstream on Glenn Irwin on the approach to turn one.
00:18:36Faint to move, he slips in behind. Yeah, had a little look, didn't he? A little rehearsal.
00:18:40Towards the end of a straight like that, you always move to one side. Anyway, if your
00:18:43rival is brakes a little bit early or something happens, you don't want to get caught up in
00:18:46the same accident. Now, it has to be said, he's good on the front end. We've seen that
00:18:51at the start of this season. As is the Dakai. When you speak to Glenn Irwin, one thing he
00:18:55praises is the thing is brilliant on the front end, on the brakes, and from the break off
00:19:01to turn in. He said the big difficulty is when you get it mid-corner. It just doesn't
00:19:06tend to give the grip mid-corner that the Yamahas do. So into Agostini's, there's your
00:19:11leading three. There's that gap James was referencing back to fourth place, and Kyle
00:19:15Ryde and Danny Kent losing ground on the leading trio. Fastest man on that last lap was Tommy
00:19:23Bridewell. He's into the 47s. We've not said that too many times this weekend. That's it.
00:19:28That's nothing spectacular in terms of lap time. Lap record is a few years old now, 22.
00:19:34So a couple of years old standing to Taz McKenzie, a 47 flat, actually a 47.079 if I remember
00:19:41rightly. Yeah, a shaky burn still holds the outright lap record, a 46 flat. There you go.
00:19:46And yeah, that's with qualifiers though, and not in a race, I don't think. You said that,
00:19:51I didn't. No, no, no, I'm sure. Oh dear, Josh Brooks, just as he was looking like he was picking
00:19:57up some speed, he's gone straight off. Easy to do round there as well, a mission breaking point.
00:20:02What I would say is Shane Byrne's lap records get better every year.
00:20:08Let's see what happens to Josh Brooks there. Yeah, he's too hot on the approach to the car. He did
00:20:13well there actually. He did really, really well. I didn't know what was going to happen there.
00:20:17That grass is wet. He was doing probably 80 miles an hour when he hit it. Over the line there then,
00:20:22we start lap six. Idan now is just being caught slightly by Irwin and Bridewell. We're going to
00:20:29engage in battle soon. Up towards turn two. Tommy Bridewell has been good into here. He's made a
00:20:34couple of overtakes already stick. And this is good, you know, because the lead in three,
00:20:39what we've got is two Ducatis and a Honda, and I don't think there is much to choose between them.
00:20:45Oxford products Ducati put together really well by Wilfmore and his team. There's a PBM Ducati,
00:20:50we're now good there. And then there's the Honda Racing Honda, and that is a quick bike. They get
00:20:57past all the time. It seems to be an improving bike, but definitely in the hands of Tommy
00:21:02Bridewell. It's been a revelation to him this year. Yeah, absolutely right. You mentioned
00:21:05earlier in the weekend when you spoke to Andy Irwin as well, that it's great to see him showing
00:21:09signs of progress. He's just put in the fastest lap of the race. He's sixth on the Honda. He's
00:21:12just behind the two Yamaha's of Bride and Kent. What you don't want to see is somebody with a
00:21:16talent that Andy Irwin has definitely got. There's no question of that. Struggling for whatever
00:21:21reason, doesn't matter why. I think it was a little bit angry, and you would be. You get a
00:21:26teammate that goes quicker than you on a bike that you've been on for a couple of three years.
00:21:29You don't like it, but actually he's knuckled down. He's learning a bit off Tommy. They're
00:21:33working together, and I think he's benefiting from it now. Christian Iden still leads this one,
00:21:39and he's done a fine job. We're on lap six of 16, and at the moment Irwin and Bridewell have not
00:21:44made a move on him. Remember Iden is only 13 points down in the championship. Yeah, he's in
00:21:49third position. He's had a cracking season. Brilliant season, and let's not forget, I mean,
00:21:53he properly bashed himself about at Donington as well. Yeah, he did. Big eyesight coming out of the
00:21:57old hairpin. Looked nasty. Did actually manage to ride again once that day. You know, he did the
00:22:02last race of the day, so nothing broken. Lots and lots of bruising. I saw him the week after. He was
00:22:07sore everywhere, like he'd been in a stone crushing machine for an hour, but yeah, great season for
00:22:13Christian. He was the fastest of the front three on that lap. Danny Kent actually with the fastest
00:22:19lap of this group, the rider in fifth place. I'm just going to say they're just starting to catch
00:22:26up a little bit. A couple of rain spots. I said he's got a little positive thinking. Quarter past
00:22:32four you said that. Full dry race. Just remember that. Lap seven of 16 at the moment is dry for
00:22:37now, and Iden is doing a sterling chop out front ahead of Glenn Irwin, keeping him at bay. Glenn
00:22:42Irwin likes a move into turn four, and he's going to go for it as well. The door was just left
00:22:46slightly open, and he's run wide, but so was Christian Iden on the comeback. Iden can't get back through. Glenn Irwin
00:22:52leads. Yeah, a little bit of a forced move there, but actually he got it done. Leon Haslam was coasting,
00:22:57and it's another horrible weekend unfortunately for Leon. He just cannot find any momentum this
00:23:04season. He's entered pit lane. This is Danny Targistani's move. Goes in really tight, really wide mid
00:23:10corner. Doesn't make the late apex, but it doesn't matter. He's got the move done. So now Tommy
00:23:16Bridewell would have seen that, and will not want to sit behind Christian Iden for long.
00:23:21Into Brundle we go, underneath the bridge. They flick left, they flick right. Bride there, number
00:23:2777 and 52 Danny Kent have just been reeling in the leading trio. Andy Irwin is joining them as well.
00:23:32Yeah, Andy Irwin, fastest man so far in this race. Brooks has done well to recover since he went
00:23:39grass tracking. He's in ninth place just behind Vickers and O'Halloran. He didn't lose much, he cut
00:23:43half the track out. Six points to be in it. Here we go, here we go. That was wide though. Another
00:23:49come back in and is trying to wrestle it out. They'll be side by side on the start finish
00:23:53straight. Tommy Bridewell will have to relinquish that position again, and have another go maybe
00:23:57into turn one. Yeah, they need to watch out because any battle in between them is going to
00:24:01give Glenn Irwin an advantage. That was a cleaner move, and that should work. Yes, it has. You can
00:24:07see the second apex of that turn one. That'll work. What we saw in race one was that when
00:24:14Glenn Irwin was able to run his lines out front, although he was slightly wide into Wilson there,
00:24:19he was able to get out into the lead. Tommy Bridewell didn't really have an answer for him.
00:24:23Can he respond here in this third race? Well, he's got everything at his disposal. Now, he said
00:24:28there was a tyre issue. He hasn't got that. This is 11th level playing field now, and it's
00:24:35exactly what we wanted. Unexpected, to be honest. So, Christian Iden now, he's got a job on his
00:24:40hands to try and keep the two Yamahas behind him of Kyle Ride and Danny Kent, and also Andy Irwin
00:24:45is again just closed up on that group. There is the number 18. Teammate two, Tommy Bridewell. Yeah,
00:24:50great to see him going well. A seventh and a fifth so far for him this weekend. Yeah.
00:24:56We're halfway through this one. Lap eight of 16. It's stage drive for now,
00:25:00where the demons are just staying away. Half a second between Glenn Irwin, your race leader,
00:25:05and Tommy Bridewell, as we approach the left-right flick once more. Yeah, that's less than half a
00:25:11second to me. Bridewell will just be keeping his powder dry at this stage. There's still a few
00:25:19laps for things to pan out. Can he get a good look at Glenn Irwin? See where he's faster,
00:25:23see where perhaps he's slower, and work out a move. This is particularly where Tommy Bridewell
00:25:29really, really fast around Corhams. Yeah, and this is what set the move up at the chicane
00:25:34every single time. You can't do that unless you've got an advantage going around Corhams.
00:25:38The bike looks like it's just got about everything. It's good on the front,
00:25:41it's well-balanced, it's got good corner speed, it's got good speed.
00:25:47Bridewell it is. Oh, just coming over the line. He's put in the fastest lap of the race at 47.7
00:25:51for the man in second. Your champion, Tommy Bridewell. It's Tommy versus Glenn again.
00:25:56Yeah, we saw this coming. Here comes Kyle Ride up the inside of Christian Iden. Nicely done. Yes,
00:26:03it was. Backed it in slightly, but held his line well. Kyle Ride then is up into third. He needs
00:26:09these points too. Christian Iden, who was leading this one for a good seven laps, then is now out
00:26:15of podium positions. Danny Kent is very close to him. Yeah, Kyle's had a consistent season.
00:26:20Did really well yesterday to bring a result of third. Oh, he's wide there. That lets Christian
00:26:25back through. Thank you very much then, Christian. Back up into third place, but the pair of them
00:26:31will have lost time. Yeah, it's so annoying, you know, when you do everything right and you sneak
00:26:35up gradually over a couple of three laps on the people in front and then one single mistake,
00:26:39you're running a little bit off, you run five meters wide and that's all that good work undone.
00:26:44Particularly if you're on a Yamaha up against the Ducati. Yeah, because you're not going to
00:26:48be able to get anywhere near down the straight to make a move. We're on lap nine of 16, so on to
00:26:53the back straight now. Glenn Owen it is that still leads, but Tommy Bridewell looks like he's got
00:26:59stuff in control there in second. Further back, it's Vickers in seventh. Brooks is in eighth now.
00:27:04He's having a good battle with O'Halloran. Charlie Nesbitt is in that scrap, but the transponder's
00:27:09not working on his bike, so his name keeps on sliding down the board, but he's still in the race
00:27:14in the top ten. So it's fascinating this. You watch your leading two, right? We know who it is. It's Glenn
00:27:19and it's Tommy. Look on the fast, the fast flowing stuff of the bike on the side of the tyre.
00:27:24It's definitely the Honda that has the advantage. You can both ride a bike. There's nothing, there
00:27:28would be nothing in them if they're on the same bike, I don't think, in that point of the track.
00:27:32The Ducati, however, and they've always complained about the Ducati having a little bit of a lack of
00:27:37what mid-corner kind of stability and grip in the fast stuff. Like we see at Thruxton,
00:27:43that's why the Ducati struggled there. And if you look around this first part of the track,
00:27:46it's all fast and flowing stuff. Once you've got around this turn two, it's definitely the Honda
00:27:51that has the advantage. Coming out of the corners, once the bike's sat up, it's definitely the Ducati
00:27:56that then has the advantage. And you've got to ride them both differently, and Tommy knows that.
00:28:00I mean, and to be fair, we've probably not spoken about it enough, just how well Tommy's made the
00:28:05transition over to an in-line four, because he spent five years on a Ducati. Yes, he has ridden
00:28:10in-line fours before, that one did rather well on them as well, but never anything like he did
00:28:15last year on the Ducati, which is one of the reasons we thought maybe he's going to struggle
00:28:19a bit going on to the Honda. Is that our excuse for not putting him in our top three at the start?
00:28:24I think it was mine. Yeah, I'll run with that. Glenn Irwin it is that leads on lap 10 of 16,
00:28:29but it is the old foes that fought tooth and nail for the championship last year,
00:28:33the one and two. Idan, Ride and Kent, you see when they all stay in uniform effectively,
00:28:38not taking laps out of each other, they're holding stations in the leading duo. Yeah.
00:28:42And Andy Irwin is still in that group as well, number 18, just behind Danny Kent.
00:28:48The sun is shining now down on us at Snetterton, a bizarre weekend for the weather,
00:28:53out of Nelson Corner into the bomb hole. Just watch how good the Honda is, just
00:28:57rails through the bomb hole, and the same again round Corhams, and it's not even that smooth,
00:29:02you know, it's quite rippling around Corhams. Yeah, it can be. Look how good the Honda is there,
00:29:06look. Yeah, just so good there, and you just know if we're on the final lap here, Tommy,
00:29:12we'd be having a look there. Yeah, the problem is, you try that move, and most likely,
00:29:19if you're racing and trying to pass somebody who's going as quick as you, you're going to run a
00:29:21little bit wide on the exit, that then hands the speed out of that corner and the advantage back
00:29:26to the person you've just passed. Well, if Tommy's waiting for a mistake, it's not coming from Glenn
00:29:30Irwin, he was pitch perfect in the last race. Yeah, I don't think we've seen a mistake from
00:29:34him all weekend. Christian Idan now has reeled them back in. He has as well, look at this,
00:29:39they need to stop scrapping because when, like you said, when they stop scrapping with each other,
00:29:42they're out with them. He was the fastest man on that last lap, he put in his personal best lap,
00:29:46a 48 flat for Christian Idan, number 21. He had to weather a bit of a storm a few laps ago with
00:29:52the two Yamahas, who are now fighting it out actually for fourth place, side by side almost
00:29:57there for Kyle Ride and Danny Kent. Behind then Andy Irwin, there's four bikes battling it out
00:30:03for second place, and Brooks has got to the front of that group now, so he's having a much improved
00:30:08ride. So they've found something good in the setup there on the FHA Racing BMW, but at the moment
00:30:13we're keeping an eye on this big group of six. Heading around Williams Corner turn seven onto
00:30:25Yeah, back onto this straight. Yeah, back onto the old part of the circuit. Now this was part
00:30:30of the original, but actually not the original, they used a different layout early on because
00:30:34they were just using the runways and the perry tracks from the old airfield, they didn't tarmac
00:30:38anything until the late 60s. But what's grown out of an old airfield is now a real bespoke,
00:30:45lovely continental field circuit. We're on lap 11 of 16 and there's reports of rain spots at turns
00:30:52one and two, so the rain flags might just be out when these guys head there. Right, well that is
00:30:57the direction the rain is going to come from, if it is going to come, and what we're going to see now,
00:31:02if there is rain and there's rain flags, I'll tell you what Tommy's going to do, because we're not
00:31:05too far from two-thirds distance, there you go, rain flag, rain flag is out on the LED boards and
00:31:11Tommy's going to try if he can to get to the front, because we've seen it before this weekend
00:31:14a couple of three times, you want to be at the front, that might make the difference if the race
00:31:18is stopped. And look at the drive he's got out of Richie's, is he going to make his move immediately?
00:31:22No, he's not, good on the brakes is Glenn Irwin, down into turn two. There's plenty of rain there, look,
00:31:27Tommy's going to push on it and if you're going to win this one, you need to be at the front
00:31:32when the race is stopped, it does get stopped for rain. Yeah, and it's two-thirds distance. Right, so
00:31:37we'll be result now, so this is really important for Tommy, if he thinks he's going to get stopped,
00:31:41you've got to force your way through. So then they break into turn four, Glenn Irwin is strung
00:31:45through here, so no move from Bridewell, Idan's not afraid of a few spots of rain on his visor,
00:31:51he's closing on the leading duo as well, remember such good supermoto experience for Idan. And
00:31:57remember when you're doing all that, you're looking at the weather, you're figuring out
00:32:00how many laps you've done, you're looking at the rain in this sector boards and flags,
00:32:04not only have you got to work out what you're going to do, but you've got to ignore the fact
00:32:08that there's spots of rain on your visor when you're screaming. Christian Idan has seen spots
00:32:12of rain and he has gone, I'm going for this, I am going all out and so is Tommy Bridewell,
00:32:17onto the back straight we go, lap 12 of 16, there won't be a move here or will there? No,
00:32:23it's going to be surely Murray's, it's got to be for Tommy Bridewell here. Murray's chicane after
00:32:27Gorham and it starts from here, this is where the setup for that move starts, like a quarter of a
00:32:33lap before, good drive out the bomb wall for Tommy Bridewell, he's going to put himself on the outside
00:32:38I think. Yeah, he's lining it up, he knows that there could be a red flag that comes out at any
00:32:42stage, he's trying to make that move, will Glenn Irwin go defensive into Murray's? Tommy Bridewell's
00:32:47not close enough to make the move, we're about to start lap 13 of 16, still a few spots of rain,
00:32:53but Glenn Irwin it is, that leads from Tommy Bridewell in second and Christian Idan in third
00:33:00on lap 13 of 16. Three turn one, look at the drive, Tommy Bridewell's trying to get out of
00:33:06Ritchie's, yeah, try and make a move potentially down into turn two, again he can't outbrake Glenn Irwin,
00:33:12oh he's a bit wide there and deep into turn two himself, the pair of them walked, maybe it was just
00:33:17a little bit wetter and they dared just nail it on the brakes there for fear of losing the front,
00:33:22they're all desperate here to get themselves into consension, so the rain flags have just been
00:33:27removed for the time being, but they'll still see a few spots out there I'm sure, but at the moment
00:33:32we're good to go, well they'll have been watching the races and they know that race organisers,
00:33:37race directions have been really careful, this is a really fast circuit in places and they haven't
00:33:42taken any chances, as soon as there's anything like any rain that's going to detract from the
00:33:47grip levels, they've called it and they'll know that, and that's why they're all desperate to
00:33:51stay out or get to the front, he's come under an immense attack here is Glenn Irwin from Tommy
00:33:56Bridewell and he has weathered it wonderfully so far, an unbelievable defensive display so far
00:34:02from Glenn Irwin, was that a bit twitchy on the exit there, Tommy Bridewell over the other side
00:34:06of the circuit, are they side by side here, it looks like they might just be on the approach
00:34:10to the bridge, but the inside line goes to Glenn Irwin
00:34:14yeah he was deep a little bit, he might be a little bit, and especially as we come up here
00:34:20now, he's trying to wrestle back his line, Tommy Bridewell through the bomb hole now, this is where
00:34:25he builds and builds and builds momentum around this long right-hander at Corham, and again he
00:34:31just can't quite get close enough to make that move down into Murrays, so good on the brakes again
00:34:37and they're not going anywhere are they, on to the start finish straight we go, there's three
00:34:43laps left here at Snetterton, Irwin just has it for now, times have dropped a little bit,
00:34:47a couple of tenths, they are a little bit slower, not much, Tommy has another look at a turn one,
00:34:52he's running just a little bit wide, that might hand a little bit of an advantage to
00:34:55Christian Irwin there, we go to turn two and yeah Tommy's not able to make that move, that was
00:35:02tight entry there from Gleno, yeah it was, he's actually running a bit defensively,
00:35:07Tommy knew that there was no point doing anything there, he'd be on the outside line for turn three
00:35:12so it's all getting a bit tense and nervous here, Christian Irwin is right on the tail
00:35:16now with Tommy Bridewell, yeah Tommy Bridewell doesn't need this because you turn a line up a
00:35:21move and then before you know it you've got trouble from behind here, a couple of spots
00:35:25again on the camera lens here, no flags out so the marshals don't think that in that sector it
00:35:30deserves the rain falling in that sector flag, Tommy Bridewell here needs to try and regroup,
00:35:35it was a little bit wide, a little bit from Glen Irwin there but not enough to lose him
00:35:39too much time, fascinating race this one, Glen Irwin managing it beautifully out front, yes he is
00:35:45and not making many mistakes, we've seen a couple of occasions where he's run a little bit wide but
00:35:50not much, a mixture of men and machinery here, we've got Ducatis, Hondas and Yamahas all going
00:35:57at it, Christian Irwin again looking to try and find a way through, Danny Kent is through on Kyle
00:36:01Hyde by the way, the McCam's Yamaha ride is up to fourth, Alex Olsen has entered the pits, all
00:36:07rain flags have been officially withdrawn through the bomb hole, that's been a good half a lap for
00:36:12Tommy Bridewell, yes he has, he's right back on the back wheel of Glen Irwin but we've seen this,
00:36:17I don't think he's got a lot in hand here, I don't think we've seen any sort of fainted moves
00:36:22where he could have got past, I think he would have gone given the fact that he thought the race
00:36:26might get stuck with the rain, he'd have gone, Tommy's been strong in that part of the circuit
00:36:30all weekend, it's almost like Glen knows that, he knows that if he's equally strong, Tommy's going
00:36:35to have to do an awful lot to get through, Glen Irwin is a canny rider, he will know everything
00:36:39about him honestly, wide there, really wide from Kyle Ryde, he loses two places, Danny Kent goes
00:36:46through and likewise Andy Irwin as well, we break now down into Wilson as Andy Irwin,
00:36:53um an interesting block pass attack, yeah and that's one of them where you would get a little
00:36:57bit annoyed because the the man couldn't even stop when he got up the inside here,
00:37:01that's Andy though and it's good to see him going well, yeah that is very much an Andy Irwin move
00:37:06that isn't it, uh going defensive there on the approach to turn four, Glen Irwin, still Bridewell
00:37:12there in second, still hidden there in third, Kyle Ryde has just gone back through on Andy Irwin
00:37:19meanwhile the laps are rolling down, only one more lap left after this, yeah this is the
00:37:24penultimate lap of the race and so far so good for Glen Irwin to do a double on a Sunday here
00:37:29at Snetterton and take a championship lead into Brands Hatch in a fortnight, Tommy Bridewell
00:37:36and Glen Irwin, is it going to be about these two in the final lap or does
00:37:42Christian Hidden still have a bit of a say in the matter
00:37:48breaking now into Brundle and Nelson Corner, importantly Glen Irwin is really good at the
00:37:54end of the straight into Brundle there and I don't think Tommy's quick enough at the place
00:37:58where he's really good and that is into into uh Murray-Chicane, he's got a great drive out of
00:38:03the monopole, yeah but he can't do much with it there, there's a big old Ducati right in his way,
00:38:08he's got to go the long way but it's too long, need to get him more corner speed obviously,
00:38:13which means more lean angle, he's going for that, here we go then we're about to start the final
00:38:19lap of the race, there's only a few points in it in the championship and it's the same old duo
00:38:23fighting it out for victory, Glen Irwin number two on the Hager PBM Ducati against Tommy Bridewell
00:38:29on the Honda, yeah and Glen Irwin's just thinking right clean lap, hit my points, don't make any
00:38:34mistakes, don't run wide because it knows that Tommy is right there and will not need,
00:38:39oh it has, it's gone wide, it's gone wide and Tommy Bridewell's gone back through on him,
00:38:43they're going to be side by side on the inside line, there is for Glen Irwin, a turn three,
00:38:47Irwin there trying to fend off Tommy Bridewell, he just about manages it,
00:38:52on the power a bit early there for Bridewell, of course, yeah trying to get the drive down,
00:38:57oh that was a moment for Irwin, that was a moment, perhaps the only ever,
00:39:01that's exactly what Tommy's waiting for, oh and Christian's wide there as well,
00:39:05he's having a little bit of a look, that might be him done, that might be him done
00:39:08and this is a bit of a buffer here for Glen Irwin and there was a twitch there,
00:39:11he had a moment, the front end twitched for Glen Irwin, so Tommy Bridewell's been giving a bit of
00:39:16a lifeline here, Tommy's running through there, oh he's really well there, this was brilliant,
00:39:21this is the moment down here, yeah look, Glen Irwin wide, gets it all locked up,
00:39:25then they come out right together, Tommy could be faking room, he didn't, put him right out to
00:39:29the stripe and have him closing the throttle, this is as close as Tommy's been at the end of
00:39:33the back straight for some time, you know that he's going to try and pull the move off into Murray's,
00:39:36he's got to try and make this sector as clean as possible, look at him using his own lines as much
00:39:41as possible, yeah well I think this is going to be a little bit of a lunge and I think if it's
00:39:45going to come, it's going to come at Murray's chicane, he's on the gas early, out of the
00:39:49bomb hole, he's trying to try and find a way through, Glen Irwin is trying to make himself
00:39:53as wide as possible, he's making Tommy go a really long way round, there's not going to be close
00:39:57enough here, is there going to be a desperate lunge here from Tommy Bridewell to try and win
00:40:00the race, no there is not, Glen Irwin going for a defensive, but does that give Tommy the drive out
00:40:05the corner, I don't think it does, the chequered flag is out and it looks like Glen Irwin has done
00:40:08enough here, Tommy Bridewell trying everything, but Irwin does a double here at Snetterton,
00:40:12ahead of Tommy Bridewell, but there was really nothing to split the pair of them
00:40:17throughout that race, Christian Iden is third, with Kent in fourth, great race, brilliant race,
00:40:22despite there maybe not being that challenge on the last lap, they were both just completely
00:40:27on the edge, yes he was, yeah, they were both better than each other in different parts of
00:40:31the circuit, that really boiled up nicely, did that, further back this is uh Picks,
00:40:38and there's Danny Bucking just in the background as well, that's great to see,
00:40:40that is lovely to see, former teammates, and there was, remember there was a little
00:40:44bit of needle lashing, a little bit, yeah all right, there's a great old big needle to be fair,
00:40:50there was bad blood between them, that is great to see, great to see, but you race hard with
00:40:55somebody like that, and for the most part it was fair, that move when Glen ran wide at the hairpin,
00:41:01and then Tommy went up the inside, Tommy could have just run him right out to the pin,
00:41:05Glen would have had to close the throttle, and he would have got a big advantage with Tommy,
00:41:09he didn't do that, he missed man room, he did, and also Tommy, I mean there would be other riders
00:41:13that would have gone for a lunge into the last corner, knowing perfectly well it was not going
00:41:17to work, a real risk, yeah, for the pair of them, yeah, so hey, it rumbles on, and that's what we
00:41:22love, there's four points between them, it was the fastest lap of the race for Tommy Bridewell,
00:41:27these two have been putting on some entertainment for us, haven't they, over the last 18 months,
00:41:31epic stuff, Christian Iden is there again, third place for the Oxford products racing Ducati rider,
00:41:38another top result for him, yeah, that'll keep him in third in the championship, yeah, let's
00:41:42remember at these first nine rounds James, the points are quite narrow, correct, between first,
00:41:46second, and third, so by just continuing to nibble away, they're not getting away from him,
00:41:51only two points between, yeah, first, second, and second, and third, each, good ride, really good
00:41:57ride, yeah, fantastic race, really good, good, and hey, you were right, we've got a full dry race, yeah,
00:42:07the weatherman wins, let's get the results then in for you at the chequered flag, we finally had a
00:42:13full race, Glenn Irwin wins it, brilliant race that between Irwin and Bridewell, Christian Iden
00:42:18takes a solid third ahead of Daniel Kent, Kyle Ride was fifth, Andy Irwin sixth, Brooks there,
00:42:23despite going grass jacking, was seventh ahead of Vickers, O'Halloran, Charlie Nesbitt, Lee Jackson,
00:42:28and Max Cook, the final points in race three went to Franco Bourne, Peter Hickman, and Storm Stacey,
00:42:36so we head away from Snetterton in Norfolk to Brands Hatch in Kent in a fortnight,
00:42:46four points separate Irwin and Bridewell, it is on, Iden riding Kent, still not a million miles
00:42:53away, but they're going to need a big weekend as we head south next time out, some decent points
00:42:58there for Brooks, he's tenth in the championship, of course no Skinner here, get well soon to Rory,
00:43:04Max Cook's 14th out of Storm Stacey, a winner here yesterday,
00:43:18so then Glenn Irwin enters pit lane, celebrations for him, lots of respect between him and some we
00:43:23will hear from the top three and what they made of that race in just a few minutes here at Snet,
00:43:34just half a point between these two guys at the end of the 2023 season,
00:43:41lots of respect between them now too, one and two in the championship last year,
00:43:46so far in 2024 it's Glenn who leads by four points, this looks like it could go
00:43:52all the way to the wire once again, Christian Iden will be hoping that it's not just between
00:43:59doing everything he can about that at the moment, it's third today, he's talking to Shane,
00:44:03certainly is Matt, yeah thank you Chris, looking very very happy with your day's work, it's been
00:44:07a fantastic weekend hasn't it, two third places, happy? Yeah yeah definitely happy, I mean I don't
00:44:12like going backwards in a race and I did in that one because I got the whole shot and on the wall
00:44:16I felt really good because the team had changed the bike and it was a definite improvement and
00:44:20you only think oh this is nice what's underneath me and I thought right let's sprint, let's get
00:44:24away and the plan didn't quite work out and then yeah when Glenn came past I sort of lost my rhythm
00:44:28a little bit then Tommy came through and it took me a bit of time to to gather it back up again
00:44:32and I started to then just chip away a little bit again at the end and I was losing a lot onto
00:44:36the back straight, like it was literally just one place where I was losing quite a sizable gap,
00:44:40everywhere else we had the equal pace, so yeah ready for next year, we'll learn off that one
00:44:46and coming back next year. I'll tell you what there were plenty of times in that race where
00:44:50it looked like you were gonna get right back in the mix between Glenn and Tommy but nonetheless
00:44:53two third places, fantastic weekend, well done Christian. Thanks mate, cheers. Right somewhere
00:44:58around here we've got Tommy Briarwell, here he is, Tommy Briarwell chatting away, Tommy that
00:45:03looked like you gave absolutely everything you had and yeah wasn't quite enough but what an
00:45:08entertaining race. Yeah what can I say, my bike was a little bit asthmatic then, honestly I'm
00:45:18lost for words to praise Honda because I keep saying it and I know people think oh bloody
00:45:23has a stuck record but I'm splitting the two fastest bikes in a straight line and I feel like
00:45:30I'm riding the wheels off my bike on entry, mid-corner exit but I'm just punching out the
00:45:36corners and down the straight I just lose too much so I couldn't ask for any more, I yielded
00:45:43you know a few points in the championship but to be fair this place is a bit of a horsepower
00:45:48kind of bike thing so I'm happy, I'm really happy, good fun then actually with Glenn, it was like
00:45:56reminiscing, reminiscing and I thought I'm gonna have a go but just yeah I was over the limit in
00:46:02some sense, I was over the limit in a few corners and then I had quite a lot at hand in another
00:46:07in other corners but honestly I'm happy and we know where we need to improve and I'm hoping
00:46:13we'll get that for Brands Hatch. Well we look forward to seeing you then, that was another
00:46:16fantastic weekend for you Tommy, well done. Cheers, thank you. Right then your race two winner, Glenn I've
00:46:22got to be very careful how I say this, you are the Quattro Plant Race of Aces champion as well this
00:46:27weekend, I couldn't say that more than twice because I'd get it all confused but it's been a
00:46:31fantastic weekend, that was a fantastic result, really measured, a couple of little mistakes here
00:46:36and there but nonetheless you held on to the end should I say and another victory.
00:46:41Yeah really pleased with that one, you know first of all hats off to Tommy and Kristen because
00:46:45they were right there, we struggled a lot, I know you know maybe I have a bike that's
00:46:51struggling the straight but we were struggling a lot from half distance when I took the lead I
00:46:57thought okay we're really really okay here, I decided when to take the lead, I felt like the
00:47:01race was in my hands at that point and then I was losing the front a lot, turn two, turn three,
00:47:08turn five, the last lap I lost the front, I lost it two or three times there, the bars
00:47:12were turning on me, put me on the curves and we were really in trouble so you know that was a
00:47:19race where the guys gave me a great package earlier and kind of outside of their control,
00:47:24weather conditions changed, maybe some grease from a little bit of rain or whatever,
00:47:27the grip for me wasn't as good but we had to dig deep like a champion and I said to Tommy on the
00:47:34in lap, you know it's no secret that we don't go for a beer together but I was like man I love
00:47:39racing against you because you're like me, you'll never give up and when his bike, when I made the
00:47:44same mistake at T2 there was only one place I was going at T3 and from then I tried to ride my
00:47:49absolute butt off and I feel we've done a really good last lap, he's so good around Corham and
00:47:55that's probably the fastest I went around Corham all race, the front was folding constantly, it was
00:47:58in a fold nearly for a while and I never gave up, this team never gave up, yeah six wins out of 14
00:48:06finishes, pretty nice thing and to get that race of aces is cool, some old legends have that one.
00:48:11You're learning, that's all I'll say, no I'm joking Glenn, fantastic performance,
00:48:15fantastic weekend, on with it up to Brands. Yeah I've got a Palmer Sport thing to do so
00:48:20Jonathan who owns all these tracks on Tuesday we have a corporate day with Hager and
00:48:24obviously my team boss is a professional car driver so it's car racing all day so he reckons
00:48:29he's going to beat me but I'm going to update you so come Brands Hatch and then I'm going to spend
00:48:33some time with Laura and the kids. I can tell you now, I've been and done that day, it is absolutely
00:48:37amazing, you're going to have great fun, it's a fantastic event, get out there, have some fun, try
00:48:41and beat Frank. I know you think because I broke your lap time. Oh go away, cheers mate, thank you.
00:48:50Well the competitive edge never leaves these guys, even on the day is off, even when they've retired
00:48:55believe me, but for Glenn I mean he said there that he struggled a little bit in the second
00:49:00half of the race losing places so I guess he won it in the first half with you know he was
00:49:04he was so aggressive to get himself to the front. Sharp off the line, aggressive, made some good
00:49:08passes, got to the front, had a little bit of a go anyway but you could actually see
00:49:12I think a lot of that was down to the fact that they haven't had that much dry setup time you know
00:49:16plus the fact there hasn't been that much dry racing going on yet, track not rubbered in and
00:49:22losing in front you could just tell running a little bit wide in places but to do that for
00:49:26that long and get away with it for the most part, well done. Yeah no it was a brilliant job you know
00:49:31under a lot of pressure you could see Bridewell trucks everything at it, you know obviously he
00:49:36didn't set a great pace early doors you know trying to pull them on, Yamaha's didn't quite have that
00:49:42just lacked that little bit around this track you know with the straights that it's got
00:49:46I think they were great obviously in some places but they just couldn't quite. I agree, the track
00:49:51isn't for the Yamaha, some of the corners Yamaha can use it's kind of mid-corner speed it's
00:49:56railing but but you're not going to gain what you lose out on them straights. No not those two big
00:50:00straights but that was a great race. Yeah evidenced by the fact that we have two Ducatis, the only two
00:50:04Ducatis on the grid on the podium with the Honda. Steve back to you. Thanks very much Matt, yes
00:50:12on to the top step then for Glenn Irwin for the second time today, it's been quite a day you
00:50:17could just see how much it means to him as well after the disappointment of not kill he really
00:50:21needed that boost and he's got it and you can see it's going to be a pleasant drive back for Glenn
00:50:27Irwin. The third place trophy is going to get handed to Christian and he's had a really good weekend
00:50:31again that's podium number 44 in BSB for Christian Hidden, more importantly his seventh of the season
00:50:39really is quite the year so far for him. Tommy Bridewell well that is his 96th
00:50:44Bennett's BSB podium the ninth of the season for him
00:50:50but the winner's trophy is going to Glenn Irwin it's his sixth win of this year the 25th win
00:50:57of his career in Bennett's BSB and just for good measure as well courtesy of the fact that he
00:51:03picked up 47 out of a possible 54 points here this weekend he's also the quattro group race
00:51:09of aces winner here for this weekend at Snetterton as well
00:51:19here comes the trophy and as he mentioned there's a fair few names
00:51:24that have picked up the race of aces I've only had James Whittam's on that list as well
00:51:29but there we are first time Glenn Irwin's picked that one up Tommy had that
00:51:32last year after his treble Glenn picks it up this year four points separating them
00:51:36time for the national anthem
00:52:06so
00:52:1514 races down in BSB for 2024 just four minutes between Glenn and Tommy roll on Brands Hatch
00:52:28yeah we know exactly what they're like they're only those two guys after the epic finale
00:52:33to 2023 last October it looks like we're going to be having another one this October in 2024
00:52:41lots of water to go under the bridge lots of champagne to go under the bridge between now
00:52:46and then of course James but a perfect day here for Glenn it could have all gone very wrong though
00:52:51for him let's have another look at that moment where he almost lost the front into the hairpin
00:52:54yeah I mean it could have gone wrong he's pushing the front he said we're on a lot of problems
00:52:58like I said not a lot of drive time and that that isn't just running wide that's the bike
00:53:02folding at the front of him controlling it that's so hard to do he was never going to give it up
00:53:06though was it no neither of them were that's perfect the the problem Tommy had is the place
00:53:11where he was quicker there's nothing you can do about it he had he had Glenn sat right in front
00:53:16of him they blow up they both played their cards and rode the bikes to its advantages and their
00:53:21advantages that was a great race and I think brands it for me it might just be the opposite
00:53:25we're in I think from what I've seen I think the Honda might just have the edge there I think
00:53:30okay well we've got a couple of weeks to wait to find out but we've still got more racing for you
00:53:35here at Snetterton one more race in fact the Tracker Kawasaki Superteen race that we didn't
00:53:42get to see yesterday is set to go under blue skies here this afternoon stick around for that
00:53:48so
00:53:55it's time for the Tracker Kawasaki British Superteen race they were meant to have a race
00:54:01yesterday but unfortunately that got cancelled with the torrential conditions that there was
00:54:06yesterday it's Carl Harris who's the man with all the momentum at the moment he sits 10 points ahead
00:54:12of Lewis Smart in the championship with Brodie Garreth just 11 points behind as well Calvin
00:54:17Kelly's look strong keep an eye out as well for Ted Wilkinson 44 points behind currently in the
00:54:23championship but was looking so strong going into this season was really quick in testing
00:54:28was quick at the first round at Alton but it just hasn't had it all his own way so far here's a
00:54:35little look at the grid then it's Calum Beach who's on pole position on number 27 to keep an eye
00:54:39out for the Welshman ahead of Wilkinson who were just talking about your championship leader
00:54:43Carl Harris in third row two is Lewis Smart Greg Marshall and Brodie Garreth
00:54:48down on row three we've got Calvin Carey Chloe Jones and the number 19 of Dance
00:54:54row four is Oakley Hopkins and Henry Snell row five we've got Barnes who won't be starting ahead
00:55:01of Darren O'Mahony and number 35 of Western
00:55:05row six is Flores Skipper on the number 96 machine ahead of Kiel and Shuttlewood
00:55:10at Charlotte Marcuzo down row seven we've got Jay Yieldom on the number 50 machine
00:55:15Brian O'Malley on the ready for racing machine and James Cook who is disqualified
00:55:20from the qualifying results due to being underweight so James Cook is a rider who's
00:55:28trying to reignite his career after a couple of years away from racing and was actually
00:55:34should have been on the front row of this race going to be myself Tristan
00:55:37Finocchiaro bringing you all the action alongside me James Hayard and James excited for this one
00:55:42yeah very much I mean it's a great series you know brilliant for these youngsters
00:55:46you know all on identical bikes and um you know we should be in for some good racing
00:55:50Carl Harris has definitely been three wins so uh let's keep an eye out he's on the left-hand
00:55:55side of the front row Calum Beach the number 27 on pole alongside him is Ted Wilkinson and
00:56:01then Carl Harris on the inside oh my god that's a terrible start how's he managed that
00:56:05on one of those little Kawasaki machines luckily he was avoided by the field but that's a dreadful
00:56:11start from pole position and not the way we wanted to do that at all just dumped the clutch James
00:56:16yeah he did indeed uh I can't remember ever seeing that you know I'm so unlucky for Calum
00:56:22Beach obviously got a bit overexcited as they all come it's going to be tight in this turn
00:56:26so um as we come out of there we'll come back and have a look at that in a second but uh
00:56:30they're all through safely more importantly and uh it is number nine Carl Harris the man who's on
00:56:36the roll son of the great late Carl Harris and uh ex-school boy motocross ace obviously right
00:56:42into the Steve Brogan team the lad from Richmond and he's under some pressure right now though
00:56:47oh it's like a lot of room there up the inside there runs it wide though so late on the brakes
00:56:54down into there lap one of nine and Carl Harris is in the lead once again like we said he's a man
00:57:02with all the momentum keep an eye out for Ted Wilkinson though remember back at Alton James
00:57:06we were talking so much about his style he's got that real elbows out leading off the side of the
00:57:11bike kind of style I think that'll really suit him round here yeah there you can go there obviously
00:57:16is there the pole man Calum Beach um obviously they're just double checking that he's all all
00:57:20right um this is it what's the man front of side right hand side of the front row just dumps the
00:57:25clutch and just flips the bike it's uh you know he's uh you know really number 27 right hand side
00:57:33and just you know it well it can happen um obviously he's not going to live it down easy
00:57:39but uh these things happen obviously he's gutted he's put it on pole um and um you know obviously
00:57:45he's uh in the championship uh hunt there in seventh position but uh what's done can't change
00:57:51it but you can change what can happen in the future it's always something you joke about but
00:57:55I don't think I've ever actually seen that happen no no I don't uh you know the poor lad let's um
00:58:02you know there's this yeah like I said there's nothing you can do about it now but uh but you
00:58:07could learn from it landed straight on his feet as well but there is a race underway here Brodie
00:58:13uh Lewis Smart as well in the mix there Carl Harris has a little look at the inside into turn
00:58:18one makes that move stick he's got 25 just behind him that's Brodie Gareth then Lewis Smart on the
00:58:24number 32 machine he's been very strong this season as well Wilkinson ducks to the inside
00:58:29though couldn't make that stick yeah Ted Wilkinson yeah he's a three times flat track British champion
00:58:36himself back in the day obviously did some junior super sport but a talent cup and um you know he's
00:58:41got a lot a lot of skills himself like I say all these identical bikes about 75 brake horsepower
00:58:47we have to 16,000 little inline four cylinders um great little machines and it's a super super
00:58:53little class Wilkinson looking at the inside of Smart, Smart was wise to that one he was
00:58:59a CB500 champion back in 2022 at thundersport those CB500 championships as well you've really
00:59:06got to get your elbows out in those yeah it is he's the leading trio now just starting to pull
00:59:12away from the from the man in fourth and um it is Carl Harris who leads away number nine
00:59:17and uh he's under a lot of pressure though you can see that uh very small um and Wilkinson
00:59:24right on his tail just keeping an eye on James Cook he's carved through the field has gone from
00:59:2821st essentially last place on the grid and he's up to 13th place so he's made up
00:59:34seven positions on that machine so we'll keep an eye out on James he should have started from
00:59:39the front row if he hadn't have been disqualified qualifying and look at that yeah just a mistake
00:59:44there from Carl Harris so um just run a little bit wide also in this picture in hunting sixth
00:59:49place Chloe Jones so she's doing a great job there number 15 so she's got off a couple of spots as
00:59:54well
00:59:58Gareth it is that leads then there she is on one of the rocket bikes and she's just closing in on
01:00:04these guys so we'll keep a close eye on her and then you've got the next on before that's uh
01:00:10Kelly Dance Snell Oakley behind as well but it is number 25 at the moment
01:00:16Gareth this lead and obviously you can see Harris was just about to get a slipstream there
01:00:21and it is number is smart that's no he didn't quite do it yeah I'll tell you what Harris so
01:00:27late on the brakes there fastest lap of the race last time around for Gareth again Ted Wilkinson
01:00:34looks to the inside but still not able to make a move stick yeah you saw him just that was so
01:00:40motocrossy you could see Carl Harris just had it sliding a little bit dancing around but the
01:00:45bike positioning you can see he's comfortable with that and um you know he's back in front
01:00:50and the great thing about a class like this when you're on identical bikes identical tires
01:00:54um it really is about you know what you're doing as a rider it's not about who's got the most
01:00:59money it's not about you know who's paying for the best yeah you know it is a pure clean
01:01:05crisp class and uh you know it's designed to bring on young talent and and really whoever
01:01:10comes to the front you know are the best of riding the best is as simple as that
01:01:15shout out to greg marshall as well on the number 95 he's having a brilliant weekend he qualified
01:01:21in fifth place which is by far the best we've seen from greg so far remember was very quick
01:01:26in the fab racing minibike championships and now showing what he can do in this super team category
01:01:32as well but number nine that's carl harris is leading gareth just behind louis smart in third
01:01:37ted wilkinson doing all he can to try and break onto a podium spot we have a change for a lead
01:01:42once again though yeah gareth the australian just on the uh again one of the rocket rookies just
01:01:48doing a lovely job slipstream just pulled out he's got that move absolutely nailed really nice oh god
01:01:54he was late into there threw the thing in you could see it just wriggling around and he's put
01:02:00a little bit of air in between let's see what harris can do as they come around corum's lap three
01:02:05of nine and they come in again you see harris takes a little bit of a protective line there
01:02:11just covering his inside quite clever to do but it's all about slipstreaming now got to get tucked
01:02:17in on these bikes all because they're so close because they're identical and you can see number
01:02:2132 smart just pulling out we did this the last lap but harris just outbraked him can he do the
01:02:27same again yes he can but he might go a bit wide now he pulls it back to the apex and again this
01:02:33is where he's good is he going to go to the inside once more look at this four oppressed and yes he
01:02:39does harris does and they all get through neatly he runs a bit wide but he's got that absolutely
01:02:44now and he's so good in the brakes there elbows out here at snetterton then we're seeing a very
01:02:50typical snetterton style freight train for these guys and the fastest man the track last lap
01:02:55believe it or not was in a six spot kelly a 204.3 compared to the the leaders 204.7 so um we'll keep
01:03:02an eye out for number 90 kelly and loyal that was tight coming into there
01:03:08yeah james kelly sorry calvin kelly uh one last time out at knock hill was the
01:03:12most recent race winner in this category so definitely keep an eye out for the number 90
01:03:18right on the back of this crew or right on the back of greg marshall who's just lost a little
01:03:21bit of time to these guys now yeah so he's fourth place in the championship and is uh is kelly so
01:03:30you know one of the four winners but it's been harris has dominated we've had three guys with
01:03:34one race and then harris win three so you know has been the man wilkinson slip streaming lewis
01:03:41smart down that back straight is he gonna make a move you can see him pulling out of the slip
01:03:44stream now as well how's the look at the inside we actually lost a position there
01:03:50to brody goweth yeah harris i don't know when he's changing a gear in between the two but it
01:03:55just looks a it's the only bit on the track which just looks a little bit out of sorts and he gets
01:03:59into the bum or gets around the rest he looks absolutely great but it just looks a bit awkward
01:04:04in that little flick flack at the end of the straight harris then doing his best out the front
01:04:12he likes to lead he likes to control it from the front and these guys are starting to trip over
01:04:17each other a little bit now so if they're not careful harris might run away with this one
01:04:23yeah there we see we're back clary jones who's uh in seventh still with this leading group still in
01:04:28touch but it is harris harris now first man in the uh 203.6 fastest lap of the race uh compared
01:04:36to smalls 204.3 there was one other person in the 203s that was kelly 203.9 in fifth so keep an eye
01:04:44on him because you know it looks like he's coming carl harris fastest lap of the race on that last
01:04:50lap and he's charging it's harris that leads ahead of smart and wilkinson
01:05:02we're over halfway distance here at snetterton and it's ted wilkinson who's just taken the lead
01:05:09from carl harris who's led pretty much the majority of this race lewis smart is just behind
01:05:15harris in the championship and is all over his rear wheel
01:05:18yeah these three starting to break away a little bit now they are wilkinson in the leading this is
01:05:23the overtake he slipstreams watch him pulls out number 22 wilkinson through he goes and he just
01:05:29absolutely gets it online doesn't run too wide gets it squared off nicely he did win the first
01:05:35race of the season alton park but then oh he's been slipstreamed by harris there let's have a
01:05:41little look wilkinson fast up the race 203.4 now harris at 204.3 so smarter 203.7 so just a few
01:05:50guys in the two or three but that's a good lap from wilkinson on that last lap could just see
01:05:55the confidence that um that carl harris has since picking up these victories i mean back at alton
01:06:01it was looking like ted wilkinson was the man really but now all the momentum like we've been
01:06:05saying is with carlin looks so confident yeah i mean he's you know he's used to winning a motocross
01:06:11obviously he's you know he's grown up riding a motorbike he's got a lot of natural feel natural
01:06:16ability he's got a good team around him and um he's doing a great job he hasn't finished a race
01:06:22off of the podium didn't finish at alton park at the beginning of the year but since he started
01:06:27finishing races hasn't finished outside of the top three oh wilkinson a long way back oh did
01:06:33they get a touch maybe a little touch on the knee he had a big lunge there and that was uh that was
01:06:38tight but these three now just edging away a fraction from full spot they got a bit of breathing
01:06:44spaces breaking into a couple of different packs now you know this looks like where your winner is
01:06:48going to come from almost certainly and you can see smart number 32 is going to pull out the slip
01:06:52stream and probably move up into second here close to curtains there between those two lewis smart
01:06:58likes getting his elbows out but ted wilkinson just rides it around the outside of him yeah and
01:07:04once again they're just getting a bit congested in that spot there but uh here they come through
01:07:09the bomb hole and then into corum's great little racing it's fast through this car corner
01:07:18wilkinson just hanging so much off the side of that bike you can see it
01:07:22through car room he's more of a european style and i think that really suits this circuit i
01:07:27think out of all the circuits on the bsb calendar you'd say that this is the most like you like
01:07:32european circuits yeah well and also these youngsters are growing up you know they're
01:07:36emulating you you're martin's you're banging eyes and yeah that is the style that is the the uh
01:07:42outside of the lot of them into turn one sorry james no it was a brave brave move and uh he got
01:07:49it done so number 22 wilkinson but here you come smart up the inside he's never going to get that
01:07:55stopped and he doesn't and it is back once again wilkinson he's back in the lead harris is still
01:08:02there but keep an eye out so is that just that little bit has just tripped him up a fraction i
01:08:07think no okay no the man in fourth kelly he's just he's kind of broken away from the pack before but
01:08:14he's not right with these guys yet he's got about a 1.4 seconds looks less than that now with all
01:08:20this dicing going on they're costing each other time and all the while kelly is just slowly making
01:08:26his way in yeah if these guys aren't too careful james kelvin kelly will be joining the party very
01:08:35very soon well he hasn't got long we're on lap seven and nine but uh he looks good and different
01:08:40lines they've got through there harris though still doing his job at the front pushing that
01:08:44pace but they get through to here and then it's all about the slip streaming be an interesting
01:08:49and see what that lap time is going to be from kelly number 19 fourth because
01:08:52it whilst these guys have been tripping off he's just been grabbing a fraction everywhere and
01:08:56looks like he's closing him harris then likes to lead is in control of this one at the moment
01:09:06but there's still plenty of time and i'm sure we're going to see plenty more moves
01:09:11as these last couple of laps tick away through the bomb hole one more time then it's stretched
01:09:16out a little bit now to see carl harris really trying to put the hammer down trying to stretch
01:09:20them out through here look at wilkinson style through there yeah we know he is he's uh you
01:09:25know got that head really low really far down you know the modern style harris was just he put it
01:09:31into com so quick then ran a little bit wide and again he can see number 90 kelly he's nearly with
01:09:37them now he's gonna be picking up a slipstream as we've seen smart just get the picture of
01:09:41wilkinson on that slipstream coming down here don't think they're going to touch harris on this lap
01:09:45they're not what did we do they're also fastest man was with a man 203.6 fastest up the race for
01:09:52kelly and full personal best for him not fast up the race but personal best 203.6 compared to the
01:09:58best up the race which has been a 203.4 so we are on the penultimate lap oh he's gone wide there
01:10:03harris and he's just given here he's given the chance there and up the inside line he will though
01:10:09there's no point in toughening out there on the outside line you're never going to go through
01:10:12there you're better off just rolling the throttle squaring it off he's going to have a look up the
01:10:18inside here though i think he is though isn't he up the inside goes lewis smart and that was late
01:10:23on the brakes is he going to be able to hold the line and he does it's great move he looked like
01:10:28he just he took so much time he thought he's got a wrong yeah i wasn't sure there you'd like you
01:10:33say you thought you would think that he was going to run on that but manages to pull it to the apex
01:10:39harris is going to respond though he's feisty so is wilkinson he just got on the gas a little bit
01:10:44too early there and almost ran into the back of carl harris he did and now it's just run down
01:10:49the straight they're so tight this time around as well you know you can see harris is almost
01:10:54certainly going to be able to slipstream uh stoop seems smart as he pulls out he's in the inside
01:10:59line what's wilkinson going to do he's got oh he just takes a tear off off there he's going to
01:11:04have the line for the left hander which he does they sweep in this is where he kind of has a
01:11:10little funny line there but he's lost a bit of time he had a bit of a wobble he might lose it
01:11:13to the bomb hole three abreast into the bomb hole never but look at wilkinson fantastic riding to
01:11:20wiggle through getting to that second spot again all the while kelly is there he's sort of just
01:11:26joined the party but he looks ready to pick up the pieces if something does go wrong if he can't
01:11:31quite make a move but i think that right he's gonna have to because we're about to start the
01:11:34last lap well yeah i mean kelly is going to be getting stuck in here as we go on to the start
01:11:43finish straight for the penultimate time it's going to be last lap time here final lap at
01:11:48snetterton for the track of kawasaki british superteens and it's wilkinson that hits the front
01:11:53down into turn one there's going to be more moves as this goes on louis smart is lining something up
01:11:58down into turn through it too he looks to the inside but so does carl harris
01:12:04does it get much tighter than that and carl harris threading the eye of the needle goes
01:12:09through on wilkinson he's been so good through there always long but again this is where we've
01:12:14seen wilkinson good he's got to stay with him up here there's a chance to come we get a little move
01:12:19on the inside coming up this next left-hander but carl harris he's left the door wide open
01:12:24is he going to do it now he's late on the brakes he's absolutely nailed it
01:12:28has he gone a little bit wide just a fraction but it doesn't cost him so harris take his leading on
01:12:34the last lap wilkinson all over the back of him smart's just about hanging in there as well
01:12:39kelly's dropped off a fraction but we've just got half a lap to go half a lap remaining then
01:12:46wilkinson's trying to get the best driving captain of these right-handers down onto this back straight
01:12:52well he's actually in the ideal positioning um yeah this is he's actually in the ideal position
01:12:56or harris hits the kerbs as well loses a fraction of drive surely so you can see wilkinson they
01:13:01might even be number 32 smart they're all going to pull out here it's going to be who's the latest
01:13:06on the brakes who's the bravest who's got the best slipstreaming it's going to be two for one
01:13:11it's lewis smart that hits the front he started that back straight in 30 now
01:13:16they're both down he's wilkinson gonna be able to carry on
01:13:20harris is down but he's all right but he's taking the wide so everyone i thought it was all going
01:13:26on that three abreast there but um it is gonna be number 32 smart i don't he probably doesn't
01:13:32even know what's happened um so he's still going in he's going to be absolutely trying
01:13:37oh it comes in it's wiggling out he comes he's on the kerbs he's touching it and it's going to
01:13:42be kelly number 90 in second it's going to be lewis smart after that dramatic final lap that
01:13:49takes 25 points towards his championship campaign with his championship rival carl harris down and
01:13:56out of the race kelly takes second brody gow is now promoted to third chloe jones in fourth
01:14:02greg marshall a first top five for him in fifth and wilkinson managed to cross the line
01:14:07in sixth you said james that he just looked a little bit unsettled every time going into that
01:14:13right hander yeah i mean listen the problem now i mean also first chloe jones as well she got a
01:14:17great fourth um what happened three abreast in there he was quite tight harris he was on the
01:14:22outside of wilkinson and he went to go and he was just a bit too tight it folded the front it's one
01:14:28of those racing incidents there was no madness in it or anything you know he's all right but the
01:14:33just so unlucky for wilkinson who rode superbly looked like he was really in the hunt for another
01:14:38win there but let's have a little look at it it comes from the start of the back straight
01:14:42they're three abreast harris on the inside on the left here and he just hits a bit of the curb
01:14:48it's the paint and he just tucks his wheel and he obviously hits so this is where it is just
01:14:52watch he's wide here he goes to go right watch his front wheel it just hits the paint there
01:14:58and it unloads and he hits wilkinson wilkinson does incredibly well you know all his flat
01:15:04tracking skills to uh stay upright i've gutted for harris because obviously you know he was still
01:15:09in the hunt gutted for wilkinson because he rode it brilliantly but it's you know listen these
01:15:14youngsters are racing identical bikes they all want to win they're all brave and sometimes stuff
01:15:19like that's going to happen but what a great race what an incredible race it was they're all
01:15:24ambitious they all want it perhaps it was a bit of an ambitious move and unfortunately
01:15:27it did end in the gravel trap for him but like you say what a race we've had and lewis smart now
01:15:33will lead the championship yeah so that was great stuff him he was 10 points behind um uh harris as
01:15:40you say in second spot he'll take that gareth as well he's gonna jump harris too um so the australian
01:15:46uh great job from them and a great result for chloe jones uh in full spot there and uh and it
01:15:52was ted wilkinson he got the fastest lap um you know i'm sure he'll uh listen he knows the game
01:15:59and uh he hasn't had quite the season he's won when he's got the speed he's got the style he's
01:16:04got the elegance on the bike you know we'll see plenty more of him but uh yeah i enjoyed that
01:16:09what a barnstorming race to finish off the two-wheeled action this weekend at snetterton
01:16:16yeah so it's a interesting little series this you know obviously it's uh you know it's great
01:16:21yeah bill being on these identical bikes as i say you know the winner of the series obviously
01:16:26you know gets a brand new ninja zx6r road bike at the end year so there's plenty to play for and
01:16:32anyway why don't we have a look at the results lots of incentive for these guys as uh as james
01:16:37has said let's have a little look at confirmation of the results then lewis smart takes it by second
01:16:44after all the drama on that final lap ahead of calvin kelly winner last time out at knock hill
01:16:49takes another podium towards his championship campaign ahead of chloe jones and greg marshall
01:16:54who breaks the top five for the first time ted wilkinson came home in sixth after that james
01:16:59cook came through from the back of the grid to finish in seventh so a good ride for james
01:17:03ahead of freddie oakley henry snell and luca hopkins who rounded out your top 10 zach weston
01:17:08was down in 13th place on the number 35 head of brian o'malley on the ready for racing vision
01:17:13team outfit with derek o'mahoney taking the last point here at snetterton
01:17:20here's the standings then we have a change in leader it's lewis smart who now leads the
01:17:25championship carl harris has dropped down to third in the championship with brody gowarth
01:17:30just six points behind lewis smart harris is also level on points with calvin kelly
01:17:35who's now in fourth in the championship with chloe jones rounding out your top 5
01:17:3934 points behind wilkinson still sixth in the championship 45 points behind but keep an eye on
01:17:45the 22 as these races carry on james cook 13th in the championship derek o'mahoney in 14th luke
01:17:52hopkins rounds out the top 15 with floris skipper rounding out the top 20 thanks tristan yeah good
01:18:04race that wasn't it drama from the start line to the final lap we'll get reaction and reveal
01:18:09your bennett's british superbike rider of the weekend when we come back from the break
01:18:15our final race of the day was won by lewis smart in the traffic kawasaki superteens
01:18:22third place let's catch up with him now brody gowarth he's with shaky he certainly is brody
01:18:27gorf um third place there you said to me off camera you had a couple of little issues there
01:18:31that uh that cost you but uh at the end of that race there it could have gone anyway couldn't it
01:18:35yeah i felt like i started off really strong on the first i think i got into first in the opening
01:18:39lap and i was battling with carl for a bit and then my clutch started slipping it was like in
01:18:42third it started slipping for some reason then the gearbox bounced out a couple times clutch was off
01:18:46and i dropped back but i just knew i just if i if i was there anything anything could happen and
01:18:50it did in that on that last lap so yeah couldn't be more happy i just like to thank everyone all
01:18:55my the helpers i have in the pits levi day um other boys and all the rocket rookies as well
01:19:00yeah great company and always good to have around onwards and upwards for brands that's gp then
01:19:04yeah coming for that good luck right second place then coming in now calvin kelly calvin
01:19:10that race could have gone i just said to brody that could have gone absolutely anyway
01:19:13um you know absolute carnage at the front there you're all battling really really hard but uh you
01:19:17must be delighted with the second place yeah good i didn't really get off to the best start you know
01:19:21with the rider crashing and um you know it caught me off guard a little bit getting passed by a
01:19:25couple riders but i managed to find my way through the field quite good and then uh managed to catch
01:19:30the top three in the last couple laps and a little mistake by them and just put me straight in second
01:19:34place so yeah really happy with that cheers onwards and upwards of brands well done thank you
01:19:39right then your race one winner calvin sorry lewis smart i need to say calvin kelly again
01:19:43lewis smart what a performance i mean you must have been you must have been like crossing your
01:19:48fingers crossing everything because right at the end there it was a bit chaotic wasn't it but
01:19:51a fantastic result nonetheless yeah thank you i mean i didn't know that that happened behind me
01:19:55on the last lap i only just got told when i came in um but yeah at the start of the race you know
01:19:59i just kept my cool um car was out the front battling with brody and then ted came through but
01:20:04i just kept my cool kept putting in the laps and then uh made that move in the last lap and yeah
01:20:09really happy with the win how much fun are these super team races i sit there watching them and i
01:20:13can't stop smiling it looks so much fun to be a part of yeah they're so much fun i mean you're
01:20:16on the limit everywhere the rear squirming the front's chattering it's uh it's mental but um
01:20:21yeah can i just say a big thank you to alan from bass group uh new sponsor come on board in the
01:20:25last few weeks um so yeah big thank you to him and let's uh carry on doing we're doing you just
01:20:30rewarded him in the best possible way well done lovely thank you yeah brilliant stuff some names
01:20:35to look out for there in the future in the bennett's british superbike championship with
01:20:38the star of today or of the weekend as voted for by the fans has joined us now storm stacy
01:20:44thanks for joining us storm i'm sure you've got lots of people wanting to talk to you
01:20:47uh this evening a bit of a celebration to be had as well what a weekend yeah no 100 i've had a mega
01:20:52weekend it's uh the weekend hasn't ended how i wanted it to but to to get a first place it's
01:20:57kind of like a monkey off my back now it's it's just it's amazing and to give it to the team for
01:21:02all the hard work they've done for us over the years and give me the opportunity mega talk us
01:21:06through that feeling there when you cross the line storm i i was ready to smash that tactic
01:21:13for not only i feel i won two races in that race i think you did yeah yeah so to play that first
01:21:19off and get the intermediate rear tire was a big big gamble really and and to play that off and
01:21:25then the red flag came out i was cheering then i was like i've done it i've won i've won but we
01:21:29needed one more lap and that would have been the race called for but then when they said i had to
01:21:33do it again i thought i'm gonna get robbed here i'm really gonna ask you how hard did you try
01:21:37knowing that you had to win that second part because you look pretty steady to be honest
01:21:42in conditions that were catching a lot of people steady um i didn't have much more um if uh if i
01:21:48had gone a bit more probably would have ended up on the deck like like so many did um yeah no i i
01:21:54had it quite controlled um but yeah passing rollo on that last lap was was just lovely to to i thought
01:22:00i would have won in class anyway because of the pathway stuff but but lewis would have been would
01:22:04have won the whole race if he'd have won so i thought well i could sit behind but then i thought
01:22:08if you're gonna win it you've got to win it properly aren't yourself or we may as well get
01:22:11the pass done and get it done and i mean here we're just seeing you some of the massive names
01:22:15you came through to pass did you feel in any way intimidated you know you're just like right i'm
01:22:20having you when i when i had the intermediate tire on i thought tommy's next to me tommy's
01:22:25gonna come with me tommy knows what these tires are doing tommy's got a lot more experience than
01:22:29me no one came with me on the intermediate rear tire i knew what that tire had in it i knew what
01:22:34grip it had i could feel it spinning on me but the new bits of tarmac you could just utilize that
01:22:39grip and get the most out of it but no one else came with me so i was like am i doing something
01:22:45wrong am i gonna go big crash in a minute but it played off what you don't know is well you
01:22:51don't know you're the the voted for by the fans right of the round what you don't know is don't
01:22:56be fooled that is proper gold under there so be careful yeah underneath the vinyl i'm gonna have
01:23:00to hide that from gladwin there you go yeah he'll be waiting it in won't he i think right
01:23:03it's also best dressed rider on the back best dressed rider best dressed rider that's voted
01:23:07for by the eurosport team how does this change things for you moving forward now storm or does
01:23:12um well my confidence is through the roof you guys know me by now i know what i'm capable of
01:23:19i know i can be british champion i know i can i can do everything i want to do in racing as long
01:23:23as i can get the bike underneath me and i i can learn myself i'm not perfect and no one's ever
01:23:27perfect you can always learn um but i've had a tough apprenticeship it's been hard and i think
01:23:32there's a lot of good things to come for me and i think if you work hard you can have anything in
01:23:37life and and i'm willing to work very hard just remind us how old you are storm because james
01:23:42keeps forgetting doesn't he yeah i'm uh 28 yeah you may be won a few championships by the time i
01:23:47was even born jamie uh 2003 i am 21 years old and i've got 21 for about 15 seasons
01:23:59storm congratulations once again we're looking forward to seeing what's next
01:24:03so come on enjoy the celebrations and okay still plenty more to come from us here
01:24:08at snetterton we'll take a quick break when we come back we'll wrap up all the other stories
01:24:12uh from donning uh from donnington from snetterton stay with us it's been a long day
01:24:23well you could almost believe it's summer from that shot here at snedston it's not felt like
01:24:27that all weekend i can tell you it's about a bit of everything here this weekend haven't we chaps
01:24:31i mean weather wise i've just never known a meeting like it either um you know it's been
01:24:36horrific at times flooding you know but then we've had the sun come out but what we have had
01:24:42and what it's caused you know we've had these little five lap sprints some of which have been
01:24:46just outrageously brilliant um we've had fantastic racing across the classes and some
01:24:51unique results yeah it's all boiled up into a really exciting meet for me uh i'm sure that
01:24:56i think 90 plus people who went down the road at some point this weekend water beer green with me
01:25:01they'll be going over bent bikes having to fix them but for us it's been it's been a cracking
01:25:05weekend hats off to the people who stopped through today's not been that bad it's just been a few
01:25:09spots of rain and the racing's been brilliant but yesterday horrendous especially like the marshals
01:25:14and stuff exactly the amazing crowd that stuck it out yeah just you know there's so many people
01:25:20wasn't it despite the dodgy forecast that mainly came from uh mr whitton but anyway we'll move on
01:25:24from that we won't listen to you again um in terms of the championship in bsb uh it's turning into
01:25:31another titanic fight between those two guys that we saw go all the way last year yep glenn and tommy
01:25:35just brilliant goes one way then the other a lot of that i feel is down the fact that the bike
01:25:40the bikes have their respective banks have advantages in different places so that they
01:25:45have right as riders i just think it's just about favoured the dakar yeah i think this weekend
01:25:50yeah almost in the dry yeah i think so you're two big long straights you know you can't beat
01:25:55that capacity and i think it will be interesting because exactly as you say there'll be some tracks
01:26:00that's going to get that's going to swing both ways so you know this is the fight you know this
01:26:04is super super quick you know you can't get the advantage that you can get on some tracks i think
01:26:09i think trucks has definitely got to hand the advantage back to the four-cylinder the straight
01:26:13across the frame for honda because even though it's quick you know you've got so many sweeps
01:26:16changing direct side grip side tyre yeah exactly so there's some real interesting bits here some
01:26:21of its motorcycle some of it's just rider rider what you're best on but what it is doing is it's
01:26:26really focusing down yeah brilliant you could also see with the guys the battles those guys had
01:26:32you know there could be guys waiting in the wings not too far off you know they might be able to
01:26:38pick up some pieces as well so but it's really sharpening up so good i was really pleased to
01:26:42see they had a lot of respect for you not just afterwards when this they were they were
01:26:46congratulated you know but but even when the race just four points in it at the moment but the stage
01:26:51that tommy's at now with the honda considering that he's on a bike that's new to him do you
01:26:56think that even though he's he's a little bit behind it's a very small amount in points the
01:26:59advantage is with him going into well the midpoint of the season no i don't think you can i don't
01:27:04think you can call it he came into this meeting with an advantage from knock hill and he's gone
01:27:08away with a slight disadvantage and i think it could swing either way as the season goes on i
01:27:13definitely think it's going to have a better mean of trucks and i think brands actually for me bike
01:27:16wise it's going to be about equal so it's not over yet this is going to swing both i also think that
01:27:20it's you know it's not a new bike anymore yes it you know it is a brand new motorcycle he's swapped
01:27:24teams and everything and we all worried a little bit about that you know because they hadn't been
01:27:27up up the front for a while but he's used to it now he says it now he's racing the wet the dry the
01:27:32damp and and actually yes are they going to keep proving it yes you know yes are they going to
01:27:36find little advantages yes but it's going to be little snips not great big jumps yeah it's all
01:27:43helping his teammate andrew owen is making progress uh after an injury hit 2023 let's get uh his
01:27:50thoughts on how his weekend went uh here at snet with shaky andrew and i thought i'd come down and
01:27:55see you after uh after this weekend's races at sneserton seems to me like you've made a really
01:27:59good step you know you're back to being sort of almost the andrew owen we know that you can be
01:28:04obviously it's been difficult for you you've had a teammate come in who's been fast you know you've
01:28:08been in this team for a little while but uh seems to me like steps are being made definitely in the
01:28:12right direction yeah you know it's it's good to be disappointed because i think i've had like a
01:28:17seventh sixth and fifth this weekend and you know if i go back two rounds ago i'd have been delighted
01:28:21with that and honestly i came in and i'm like cheesed off you know i'm like i want more and
01:28:26and that's honest i do want more but it's another step in the right direction not to sound really
01:28:30boring but we are getting there i want more and uh the team's done a fantastic job because i'm
01:28:36properly comfy again i'm riding much closer to where i should be so you know we go to brands
01:28:41knowing that we were kind of in the battle with the top six the whole race we weren't that far
01:28:45away from the win in the end and uh yeah it's disappointing to finish sixth and not be that far
01:28:49away but yeah i think uh to be fair to tommy as well you know he's been mega he in friday he takes
01:28:56me out he lets me ride behind him never complains about it maybe now that i'm getting closer it
01:29:01might not be the same but yeah so it's mega to have him winning races or being on the podium
01:29:05this weekend but hopefully it's not too long until i'm able to battle with him and we can
01:29:08have two honours in the podium well it looks to me like you know you both ride the bikes a little
01:29:12bit different um but having him sort of dragging you around what is it you're seeing from him what
01:29:16is it that he does that's different to what you've been doing because clearly you're making steps in
01:29:20the right direction so honestly it's just he just completely trusts the bike you know he breaks so
01:29:25late but also so deep keeps the brake on carries the same brake pressure for such a long time and
01:29:30whereas i get closer to the apex you know it's like as a racer it's like more risk the more
01:29:34preparation you have with the more lean and yeah he's good at that and it's something that i need
01:29:39to adapt to just keep working step by step get closer and closer he's very good with the rear
01:29:43brake things like that but i also need to keep my strength sometimes when i try to follow him i just
01:29:47try to do everything that he does whereas there's strengths that i still have and there's no reason
01:29:52why i can't put the two of them together and be really strong in the future well i'm not gonna
01:29:56be super happy without being on the podium or without winning but i think you've had a good
01:30:00weekend and it's been good to see you back at the shop and thank you very much cheers
01:30:04thank you yeah and it's good to see him taking that steady approach to to get into the sharp
01:30:10end i've been really pleased with his progress i think at the beginning of the season when tommy
01:30:13came in nobody wants to get a fast teammate and you get striked by a new boy on the bike you've
01:30:18been riding i think that he was upset with that i spoke to him after navara not happy man but i
01:30:22think he's learning now and i think they're getting on i think he's paying dividends and
01:30:25it's good to see him back it'd be an interesting dynamic if we end up with andy up at the front
01:30:29yeah helping tommy out potentially against glenn yeah i mean very much i was the thing that he has
01:30:35benefited i think he got he's got a great amazing amount of talent andrew i agree he can win races
01:30:40but i think he got a little bit of loss i think that that knowledge that tommy has of setting up
01:30:45the bike putting it in the right direction has really helped him and like he says he still
01:30:50remember the bits that he does well take bits from your teammate learn it but i think that's
01:30:55really helped to narrow down and get back in the right zone with it yeah quick final word for
01:30:59christian idham yeah brilliant solid season solid meeting and we've seen that for a bit now i only
01:31:03dropped the ball once at donny and i think he's going to be in with a shot of the championship
01:31:07well those three guys have been very much the men to beat here along with storm stacy
01:31:12at snetterton next up it's the big summer bash at brands
01:31:16the crowd don't know which way to look the last race the last corner of 2023
01:31:29glenn owens gonna win but your new british superbike champion is tommy
01:31:35by half a point who writes the script in bsb you could not write this
