Staff in Nissan's paint shop learn sign language to communicate with deaf colleagues

01:19everyone knows that Nissan is built on teamwork to achieve that we need our

01:28teams to be able to connect and for everyone to feel included and be their

01:32best at work. So far ten members of our team have passed the course and gained

01:43their level one qualification in sign language. I've done it and it wasn't easy

01:54but it's a vital method of our communication in our zone. It means

02:06everyone feels engaged and that everyone feels a part of our team. The training

02:13enabled our deaf employees to be understood and follow the same path as

02:17other staff within the team. It helped with training sessions, it helped with

02:26team briefings but more than anything else it makes us stronger as a unit.
