00:08Anwar delivered a keynote address and took part in a plenary session at the 9th Eastern
00:13Economic Forum on Thursday, which were well-received by the audience.
00:17He told the audience that as the new ASEAN chair next year, Malaysia will reinforce the
00:22bloc's centrality and explore synergies with regional and key dialogue partners.
00:28He said Malaysia will intensify ASEAN's engagement with sub-regions and partners, including Russia,
00:33to foster economic growth, security cooperation and cultural exchange.
00:39He called on Malaysia and Russia to introduce direct flights between both countries to boost
00:43their economies and exchanges.
00:46The plenary session was also attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese Vice
00:51President Han Zheng, and many other foreign dignitaries and captains of the industries
00:56took part in this year's forum.
00:58During their bilateral meeting, Putin extended an invitation to Anwar to participate in the
01:03BRICS summit in Kazan from October 22 to 24, which Anwar accepted.
01:10Anwar also extended an invitation to Putin to attend the 2025 ASEAN summit.
