00:00Rice is life. The staple food item not only of over 110 million Filipinos,
00:05but even more in the Asian continent at large, especially in the provinces of China.
00:11And in a particular community that our Melales Morris visited,
00:15the fields of green and gold have intricate and well-kept walkways for people to travel on,
00:21fish ponds with a variety of swimming edibles for the catch of the day,
00:25a museum for more information on the community,
00:28and a maze to get lost in for fun within the field.
00:42Rice has always been a part of Filipinos' daily lives.
00:46That's why wherever you go in the country,
00:48especially in the provinces, rice fields are common or familiar sight.
00:58In Longlin County, Baotian City, Yunnan, China,
01:01rice farming is also one of the main livelihoods of the residents.
01:05But did you know that some of the rice fields here are not just ordinary farmlands,
01:10but with remarkable features?
01:21In this rice field, a giant rice maze was formed for the residents and tourists to explore.
01:26You can also help the farmers here so you can have a worthwhile experience
01:30and have engaged in physical exercise too.
01:34But wait, there's more!
01:35It's not just a rice field, but also a fish pond,
01:39so we didn't miss the chance to catch fish as well.
01:57Meanwhile, this separate rice field is also unique as it comes with a park.
02:02There are walkways or well-maintained paths for people to stroll on.
02:05It also has a running area and various structures,
02:08which is perfect for those who love taking photos.
02:17To complete the rice exploration, there's also a rice museum here.
02:21As you enter the facility, you'll be greeted by a giant rice bowl
02:25along with this various seats.
02:27There's even a giant LED screen showcasing the history of rice in the area.
02:32For a complete meal experience,
02:34you'd be surprised that they also feature a variety of dishes here, but only plastic.
02:39Rice is truly important for many people.
02:42That's why, in any way possible, it should be nurtured and valued.
02:56With Aimee Dizon and Eric Dizon,
02:58Malalas Monas from the National TV Network for a new and better Philippines!
