00:00Sophia, we're here at the Rose Tinted Glasses exhibition. Can you talk us through it?
00:04So basically I started the Rose Tinted Glasses series 18 months ago and the whole concept is the quest for love.
00:11And I used my experiences as the inspiration to create the full series of the 13 oil paintings.
00:19And I have basically curated this exhibition as a story.
00:24So you start with chapter one and you end at chapter seven.
00:27And yeah, it's took me the best part of two years to bring this to life.
00:32And I'm so excited that it's finally here in person for people to come and experience.
00:37And this is your biggest exhibition to date. What's the response been like?
00:41It was incredible. Last night, hundreds of people came.
00:45I was completely overwhelmed with love and support for my art, which is something that I've never experienced before on this level.
00:53So it's just been absolutely amazing to see the turnout.
00:57And obviously you're a Sunderland based artist, but your work sells across the world.
01:01What's it like being a creative in your home city?
01:04I absolutely love being from Sunderland. We've got such a hard working, great spirit.
01:11And I feel like that really comes into my creative process because I'm not just an artist, but I'm also a business woman.
01:19And I really want to put someone on the map for being also a hope for creative people to really express themselves.
01:27And I feel like putting on this exhibition is a great way to show young girls and women in the arts, especially, that it is possible to put on these huge shows.
01:37And what inspires you as an artist? Is it things you might see in day to day life?
01:41Yeah, so most of the paintings are actually things from my personal life.
01:46And this painting especially, I took this as a picture from the car window.
01:51And I just saw it as a moment and I thought would be an incredible painting for the concept I had in mind for Tunnel Vision.
01:58So yeah, I painted it.
