00:00The Ukrainian incursion into the Russian region of Kursk began on the 6th of August.
00:05Kyiv says it has captured 1,300 square kilometers of Russian territory.
00:09The UK spy chief Richard Moore says it could change the narrative of the war.
00:14It's typically audacious and bold on the part of the Ukrainians.
00:19The Ukrainians by going in and taking Kursk have really brought the war home to ordinary
00:23Russians.
00:25An opinion echoed by the CIA director William Burns.
00:29The Kursk offensive is a significant tactical achievement.
00:32It's not only been a boost in Ukrainian morale, it has exposed some of the vulnerabilities
00:38of Putin's Russia and of his military.
00:41Much as Prigozhin's short-lived mutiny a little more than a year ago did as well, it did raise
00:46questions on the part of people we could see across the Russian elite about where is this
00:51all headed.
00:53It is yet to be seen whether Ukraine can turn gains in Russia into a long-term advantage.
00:58The offensive hasn't drawn Vladimir Putin's focus away from eastern Ukraine, where his
01:03forces are closing in on the strategically situated city of Kursk.
01:09The two spy chiefs appeared together at an event organized by the Financial Times newspaper.
01:14They have an opinion piece in the FT itself, in which they say the UK and US are facing
01:19an unprecedented array of threats.
01:22They state that there is no question that the international world order, the balanced
01:27system that has led to relative peace and stability and delivered rising living standards,
01:31opportunities and prosperity, is under threat in a way we haven't seen since the Cold War.
01:36That threat, they say, includes an assertive Russia, an ever more powerful China and international
01:43terrorism, all complicated by rapid technological change.
