00:00Why I chose Islam is why I chose to share Islam with the world. The reason I
00:07do dawah is the exact same reason that I chose to become a Muslim in 1998. I found
00:14in it the answers to questions I had been searching for my entire life and
00:19not only did I find the answers I found proof of the answers. I remember my
00:25grandfather telling me growing up that the truth always comes with proof. So if
00:31someone says they're telling you the truth ask them for the proof. I don't I
00:35don't want this you just tell me something that makes me feel good
00:38because that's what I spent the majority of my life being told in church. I wanted
00:44proof tangible evidence because if what you say you believe is from the creator
00:50of the heavens and earth then there will be tangible proof of it. There has to be
00:54because the world is tangible proof of the existence of the creator right? The
00:58universe is tangible proof there are so many things around us and even the
01:02Quran tells us to look inside of our own soul our own bodies I mean just look at
01:06us we are living proof of the existence of a design and a creator. So if he has a
01:12way of life for mankind that way of life for mankind must have some proof behind
01:17it and it must be proof that is equivalent with the creator who sent it.
01:23That means that proof would be perfect so if God is perfect if the creator is
01:30perfect his religion would be perfect the proofs that came with it would be
01:34perfect everything about it would just fall right into place and I could not
01:39find that in the other religions because they're man-made they're man-made and the
01:47evidence of that is the proofs the documents the writings the books all
01:51have mistakes they all have discrepancies they all have
01:54contradictions why because the nature of man is that just like if God created
02:00something it would be perfect when man tries to create something it carries
02:04with it the imperfections of being insane of being human beings and our
02:10flawed nature. So as you know for those of you who have not seen my story you'll
02:14get little pieces of it I left religion altogether after doing these studies
02:19which didn't take long because as soon as I would because I would go to look at
02:23documents of books I would go to look okay let's look at the the Vedas look
02:27let's look at the Bhagavad Gita let's look at the you know the the Hindu texts
02:30and things of this nature the moment I found something to be contradictory a
02:35mistake problematic I walked away if it is automatically if there's a mistake
02:40this can't be from God. Parts of it might be just like we as Muslims now believe
02:43that parts of the the Bible Christians read today could very well be the words
02:48of Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala but we don't we don't know for sure because we
02:51have nothing to prove it so I left religion you know that was it whatever
02:55whatever religion is based off of that I'm all good and I've never seen a
02:59Muslim anyway in South Carolina in 1998 I'm like I'm straight there's no
03:02Muslims coming to find out that I actually was born and raised across the
03:06street from a masjid my whole life and I never knew it but when I was able to go
03:12to the masjid for the first time in 1998 and the Imam gave a very beautiful
03:17khutbah it touched me mashaAllah but when I went to him after the salah
03:25and and and asked him because he started telling me about Islam you know how our
03:29dawah goes you know Islam is built on five pillars and six six beliefs and I
03:34said look I just want to know do you have some proof I said can you show me
03:39proof you know like show me the money you know like where where where is the
03:43proof that your religion is what you say it is he's like you know he said I got
03:47you so he went and pulled the book off the shelf and he handed it to me and my
03:51first proof handed to me about the deen of al-islam was the Quran he said this
03:56is it there's our proof you know that it was revealed to the price a little bit
03:59and then I've already had people try to pre-sale me you know he's already trying
04:03he's like he's trying to load me up to go read this Quran with a certain frame
04:06of mind I said no no don't do that let me read this book if it is what you say
04:11it is it'll prove itself this was this was the amount of certainty that I had
04:17that if God had a religion it would be clear crystal for someone who was
04:22searching so I took the Quran home and I started reading it so I opened the
04:27Quran and I read surah al-fatiha all praise belongs to Allah who is the Lord
04:33of all the worlds the most gracious the most merciful the master of the day of
04:38judgment you alone do we worship and you alone do we seek our assistance guide us
04:42to the straight path the path of those who have earned your favor not the path
04:45of those who have earned your anger nor those who have gone astray as soon as I
04:49read that Jesus's prayer that he taught his disciples in the Bible came to mind
04:55our Father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come that will be
04:59done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and lead us
05:03you know and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil for thine is
05:08the king and the power and the glory forever there was such glaring
05:12similarities like when I watched the message for the first time and and when
05:17the king Najashi said that what you have said and what we have is like two rays
05:23from the same lamp that was the feeling that I got reading surah al-fatiha and
05:28then I turned over to surah al-baqarah and the first verse had no meaning to me
05:34whatsoever ALM the second verse is the reason I decided to look into Islam it's
05:41the reason I decided to keep reading the Quran it's could very well be the reason
05:45I'm a Muslim today is surah al-baqarah verse 2 this is the book
05:51if you understood how deep just that phrase alone this is the book and it's
06:04in it's in such a powerful prose that Allah Jalla wa ala is telling mankind
06:10there is no hesitation in this statement this is the book in it is no doubt no
06:19crookedness no strangeness it's clear and it will guide whomsoever fears the
06:27one who created them and it will guide whomsoever has fear or has taqwa or has
06:32consciousness of their God to me initially that challenge made me angry
06:39because I did not want to believe that Muslims could have any even though this
06:45imam gave a khutbah that day that was so beautiful about the rahmah of Allah
06:49subhanahu wa'ta'ala that it touched me there was no way I wanted to admit that
06:54that Muslims whom I used to believe as a Christian would would would be the dajjal
07:00I believe that the the Mahdi that we wait on now was going to be the dajjal
07:05you know and that Muslims are going to be the army of dajjal that's what I
07:09believed about you guys that's what I heard and that's what I just it sounded
07:13good and click together and there we go that's the Antichrist I did not want to
07:18believe that there's no way I've been looking all over for God and I'm gonna
07:22find him with the Muslims you know like this I have to figure out a way to
07:27disprove this book but this book Allah Jalla wa'ala in his wisdom made sure that
07:34that verse would be the first thing you read after Fatiha this is the book there
07:38is no ghayb in it there's no doubt in it there's no crookedness there's no
07:43errors there's no contradiction there's nothing and it will guide whomsoever has
07:47fear of me so I started to read Surah Al-Baqarah with the intention that I'm
07:53going to find that thing that can tell me that Islam is wrong that this book is
07:58not what it says it is and so I keep reading in Baqarah and I come across
08:02another challenge that if you have any doubt about this book bring something
08:08like it and call anyone you wish to help you and when you fail and you will
08:13fail if and when you fail you're gonna fail trying to replicate this book then
08:19fear the fire whose fuel is men in stones and then I find another challenge
08:22had this been from any other than God you would find any contradictions so
08:26very early on the Quran is challenging me intellectually to discredit it no
08:33other religious book on the face of the planet earth has this challenge and then
08:38the book starts telling me about the family and the family of Ali Imran which
08:42starts talking about people I remember I start reading about you know I start
08:48reading about Ibrahim I start reading about Musa I start reading about the
08:51wood I start and then I get to the stories of Jesus and I'm like where has
08:57this been all this time that pureness that I was looking for from the lives of
09:02the Anbiya from the prophets lives that they were the best of us that they were
09:06an example to be looked up to and to be followed and they were sent by God to
09:10guide mankind to how we should live our lives and put a standard in place and so
09:16I finished the Quran in three days I couldn't put it down I couldn't but by
09:20the time I had finished the Quran all I could do was get down on my hands and
09:27knees like I had done previously before before I ended up leaving faith
09:32altogether I had gotten down on my hands and knees in my in my room alone and
09:37said God look I don't know what I'm doing here but I'm extremely confused if
09:41you want me to know the truth you're going to have to help me out and here I
09:47am a couple you know years later getting back down on my hands and knees and
09:51saying you know my my Lord who created me I in a million years I would have
09:58never have expected to find you in a book possessed by Muslims but I said I
10:05wanted guidance and here I am if you want me to be a Muslim I'll be a Muslim
10:10I went back to the Masjid and I told the Imam I wanted to be a Muslim and he was
10:16like you've been only been gone for three days I said yes because your book
10:20is what you say it is I read it he was like so you believe there's only one God
10:24I said I've always believed there was only one God I was just extremely
10:27confused with the whole Trinity Paul had me like way out there in some no-man's
10:32land nobody understands it even Christians will tell you today and I'm
10:37not saying this is Zain Saul it's called the great mystery God is the great
10:40mystery of the Trinity no idea you're not supposed to know who he is so I said
10:45yes I believe there's only one God he said that's good you also have to
10:50believe in the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him so I have a few books about the
10:53Prophet Muhammad if you would like to I said no no no I said I have one question
10:57for you about the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him you answer this question I
11:00need to know what I need to know about him he said what is that I said did he
11:04give us this book I said is he the one who delivered the Quran to us he said
11:09yes I said that he is who he says he's similar is that threatened right if the
11:16book is truth then the messenger who conveyed it is truth I'll be a Muslim so
11:20I took my Shahada then but I took it again the following Friday in December
11:25of 1998 and and started my journey of becoming a Muslim and getting involved
11:31in what is known as that were apostolization and and sharing the
11:35message of Islam around the world but why I chose Islam is because not only
11:39could I establish a relationship with the one who created me but I had proof
11:45to back it up
