A woman was fined RM700 by the Traffic Magistrate's Court in Seremban on Monday (Sept 9) after pleading guilty to a charge of allowing her 10-year-old son to drive her car which later got into an accident.

00:00A woman who allowed her 10-year-old son to drive a car which got into an accident last
00:07week was fined 700 ringgit by the traffic magistrate's court in Seremban on Monday.
00:14Magistrate Marlisa Mohamad Fahmy handed down the sentence after the 46-year-old accused
00:19pleaded guilty to committing the offence.
00:22The charge was under Section 39, Subsection 5 of the Road Transport Act 1987 which provides
00:29for a fine not exceeding 2,000 ringgit or a six-month jail term or both.
00:35The woman, who was unrepresented, pleaded for a lenient sentence, saying that she only
00:40earned 1,500 ringgit a month as a cleaner and has to support three school-going children.
00:47She was ordered to serve seven days in prison if she fails to pay the fine.
00:52It was reported that the boy went on a joyride in Taman Arowana Impian around 9pm on September
00:583.
00:59However, the car skidded and crashed into two parked vehicles.
01:03Police said the boy's nine-year-old neighbour was in the passenger seat at the time of the
