He said this when asked about the recent arrests of its personnel by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission over "counter setting" activities at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport terminals.

00:00As we all know, there have been arrests of several immigration officers in KALAYE.
00:10We all know that, for me, my position is very clear.
00:16My position in this case is that we will not compromise any of our officers
00:21who violate our documents, our regulations, passport documents, immigration documents, and SOP
00:28including the direction of the Director-General.
00:30That is one of the principles of every immigration officer.
00:33They have to be loyal to these officers.
00:37They cannot work outside of this context.
00:41Therefore, we strongly support the actions taken by the SPRM.
00:46And I and the immigration team will fully cooperate with the authorities
00:53to carry out the investigation.
00:55And we will fully entrust the SPRM to carry out their actions.
01:03At the same time, at our level, we want to make sure that
01:08our immigration officers, especially those at the immigration gates,
01:12are an integrated officer.
01:14That is the most important thing.
01:16Therefore, what are our actions?
01:19One of the things that we always do, without fail,
01:23is to carry out a spot check and review.
01:26Especially at the immigration gates.
01:28For the record, at our immigration gates,
01:32for this year and the previous year alone,
01:35we have carried out 277 reviews.
01:39What is the purpose of this review?
01:42This review is to ensure that our immigration officers
01:47comply with our procedures,
01:50comply with our regulations,
01:52so that we can see that it is not easy for them
01:56to take actions outside of our regulations.
02:00That is the most important thing.
02:02Therefore, if we go there and we find that our officers
02:05have violated the guidelines,
02:07then we will carry out a spot check on those officers.
02:11At the same time, if we see that the officers are not fit to be there,
02:15then we will transfer them to another place.
02:18This is related to the work process.
02:21We don't want an immigration officer to sit in a sensitive place
02:24and work for a long time.
02:26In the past, we said a 5-year term,
02:28but a sensitive position cannot be more than 3 years.
02:31There is a need, I will shorten it to 1 year.
02:34That is our target.
02:36The appropriateness of the officers,
02:38the integrity of the officers,
02:39and also the time period,
02:41we need to always look at.
02:43In other words,
02:44we will carry out the work cycle continuously.
02:47We hope that our efforts will bear fruit.
02:53At the same time,
02:54we will also carry out enforcement activities continuously.
02:58We will also cooperate with the authorities,
03:01such as the police and other agencies.
03:05We will also clean up and reorganize
03:09so that we can get our hands on the issue of setting up offices.
