The Goodwood Revival is an annual event, held over three days on a race track near the south coast of England.

Welcoming more than 150,000 visitors, it focuses on reviving and racing classic cars, and not the latest and fastest engines.

This year it introduced a new rule mandating the use of sustainable fuel. Our correspondent Jen Copestake went to have a look.

00:00Fabulous fashions and classic cars, going to the Goodwood Revival is like stepping back in time.
00:07The Revival is all about reliving the glory days of motor racing at Goodwood.
00:12You're thinking sort of 40s and 50s, maybe early 60s.
00:16And that's encouraged a tremendous trend in people actually finding and repurposing original period dress.
00:24So this suit I'm in at the moment is from the 1950s.
00:27The Revival dates back to the 1940s. Before it was a racetrack, Goodwood was an airfield.
00:32It was the base for Spitfires, flying missions in the Second World War.
00:36Big time motor racing makes a comeback at Goodwood.
00:39The perimeter road of the airfield was turned into a racetrack after the war.
00:44The first motor race in 10 years in England was held in 1948.
00:49It was closed in 1966 and reopened in 1998 with the idea of bringing classic car racing back to the track
00:58with an ethos of revive and thrive.
01:01It includes very specific criteria on how cars racing here are built.
01:06It's got to be a period car. It's got to be an original car.
01:10It's got to be spec'd in the way a car like this would have raced back in the late 50s, early 60s.
01:18And a new rule this year.
01:20All the cars racing here have to use fuel with at least 70% sustainable components.
01:26This is the first time I've driven with fully sustainable fuel
01:30and actually it doesn't feel as if there's any difference at all.
01:34So that's a very positive thing.
01:36It's a drier fuel so it poses some obstacles on the lubrication
01:42but the engine builder overcome that so we're good, we're happy.
01:46The sustainable ethos of the event is driving interest in new markets.
01:50For the first time the revival is being live streamed in China
01:54with 40,000 viewers joining on the first day.
01:58The car is a very interesting emerging industry in China.
02:02A lot of people are working on their own cars and also they want to modify their cars.
02:07Goodwood culture is perfect to suit that audience
02:11and a lot of people are interested in this kind of event.
02:14In a more sustainability conscious world,
02:16remaking classic cars to reduce their environmental footprint
02:20and celebrating the beautiful designs of a bygone era
02:23could ensure the revival's success for many years to come.
