Lochaber Chamber of Commerce calls for urgent action by Scottish and UK Governments on major traffic congestion in Fort William

00:00I'm Sarah, I'm the chair of the Lochaber Chamber of Commerce, where we face a transport issue.

00:07We've spoken to many of our members to understand the challenges that the road bring to their operations

00:14and it is immense, the time and the costs that are incurred.

00:20We're trying to get our product to market as quickly as possible

00:25and like we're processing fish today, we want to be in the blowing market first thing tomorrow morning

00:30and the worst part of that journey is the infrastructure in Fort Boyle and the 82 in general.

00:35There is some areas that we generally have to reverse to pass each other on a trunk road further south

00:41so it's things like that that have got to be improved.

00:44There's in the region of 8 to 10 major projects that are planned for the site

00:50that may not happen on the back of us having an inability to be able to bring our raw product to the site

00:56and then also deliver to our customer base.
