00:00In Italy, in 2033, 165,000 nurses will be missing, an alarming figure that requires
00:10reflection and concrete answers. The first comes from the Università Campus Biomedico
00:14di Roma, which, on the occasion of the symposium entitled Excellence and Innovation in Nursing
00:19Education, launched the new master's degree course in nursing and obstetrical sciences.
00:24The event brought together experts from the institutions, the health profession and the
00:28public, to discuss the future of nursing training in Italy, in a context that sees
00:33the national health system increasingly in trouble due to the lack of qualified staff.
00:38Among the main themes is the need to diversify the careers of nurses with
00:42clinical specialization courses. An interdisciplinary approach is important, which favors
00:47a more integrated and specialized training to deal with the growing needs of public health.
00:53It is a course that will somehow establish a climate, create a climate of collaboration
01:00between students in order to be able to play these interprofessional skills alongside
01:07patients and families. It is a degree course that pays close attention to a strong integration
01:14of scientific and humanistic knowledge, because the assistance has precisely this purpose
01:23of developing interventions for humans and therefore suitable for any type of need, of care.
01:30The synergistic action with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of University provides,
01:34after the three-year degree, the possibility of continuing with three master's degrees
01:38in clinical and specialist direction to build new skills in the territorial area,
01:43family and community nurse, emergency and emergency emergency, both hospital and territorial,
01:48and pediatric neonatal. The training reform aims to give nurses an increasingly central role
01:54in the management of patients, both elderly and chronically, then placing them economically
01:59and legally in a different way.
02:01The epidemiological transition will have a culmination, let's say, in about twenty years.
02:08We, thanks also to the PNRR, are putting forward the solutions, because community hospitals
02:17and family and community nurses will represent that dimension of the last mile that will be able
02:25to guarantee the health response directly to the home of the patient,
02:31avoiding that there is an inappropriate recourse to the hospital.
02:37The day highlighted the importance of the collaboration between universities, health and institutions
02:42to innovate an essential profession, opening new horizons for future generations of nurses
02:47and facing the challenge of the lack of staff of the National Health Service.
