00:00a tale as old as time the forgotten bastard tell me who's the number one contender
00:15earning a shot at the international championship not Will Ospreay he swans into Tony Khan's office
00:23and sanctions himself and in the national title match for Wembley Stadium constantly overlooked
00:29manipulated and treated like a bomb there's nothing that is stopping me I will get back
00:35my international championship back where it belongs with Will Ospreay this is about restoring
00:43the international championship this is the line in the sand let this be a warning to you don't
00:52you dare forget about the bastard think I forget about you I could never forget about you nah
01:00brother I've been chasing you all this time you've just been in this position so many times maybe
01:06we've lost faith in you I am taking back what's mine and reminding the entire world what the
01:16bastard is capable of the forgotten bastard a tale as old as time
01:22this bounce set for one fall with a 16-minute time limit is for the AEW International Championship
01:52introducing the challenges from Newcastle upon Tyne weighing 217 pounds he is the bastard
02:06the only man to have held two all elite wrestling championships simultaneously
02:12Pac previously called himself one-third of the trios championships he called himself the inaugural
02:19all-atlantic championship the championship which would become to be known as the international
02:23championship and now he has an opportunity to do so for the second time tonight he's had many big
02:29wins including been eating Kenny Omega you'll recall referee stoppage the very first all out
02:35back in 2019 he's had some very very big wins he's gonna have to have everything working correctly to
02:43beat the champ
02:58and his opponent from Essex England weighing 220 pounds he is the AEW International Champion
03:09the aerialist
03:25well we have seen many athletes go come and go here at AEW Excalibur in the five years of course
03:32that five-year anniversary coming up in Pittsburgh at the first of October but
03:36I don't know if anybody has captured the imagination of the fans that's quicker than Will Ospreay
03:46yeah I think it's certainly a fair point but even when you think beyond the five years of AEW I mean
03:54you've seen them all come down the wire
03:59how does Will Ospreay compare to the greatest high flyers of all time like
04:04remember the first time you saw him compete I remember that I remember when I saw you compete
04:13I said that man doesn't get off his feet well the aerial assassin certainly does
04:19Pat once known as the man that gravity forgot Will Ospreay certainly there's an amnesia
04:27when it comes to gravity with this man too it's a very interesting matchup these two men have met
04:34one-on-one one time before it ended in a 30-minute time limit draw in February of 2019
04:43and this match for me personally is very interesting because
05:04wow what a moment that was you're gonna have a vociferous response from Chicago
05:22that's the experience of Pac he knows he can't afford to let Ospreay ride the wave of momentum
05:30from this crowd the reputation of Ospreay of Will Ospreay that he brings to every match
05:44Ospreay lands on his feet and now to the point I was going to make is the reason why this match
05:49is so interesting so appealing to me is because Pac really the second great British high flyer
05:57to break out of course the first being Jody Fleisch Pac the second and Jody and Pac really
06:03paved the path for Will Ospreay they walked so Ospreay could run getting exposure not only in
06:10the UK in Ireland but also in Europe then North America ultimately in Japan and then returning to
06:18the big stage on in America that's what Pac did and he did it before Ospreay and because he did
06:25it he allowed Ospreay to do that as well there is certainly something to that large shoes to fill
06:31for this young man from Essex Will Ospreay but you can make an argument that he has done
06:36the same for the generation that will follow him him being Will Ospreay who went to Japan
06:43arguably one of the most credentialed British stars in the land of the riding sun's history
06:50you know Will Ospreay in one of his interviews brought up that exact point you were talking
06:55about Excalibur about Pac paving the way for him and talked about the time in Japan and the time
07:01that Pac was there and they both of course were on the independent pretty soon as well
07:06wait a second now Pac ascending to the top Ospreay down on the outside
07:10Pac sky twister press to the floor
07:15I'm telling you absolutely freaking amazing what a risk
07:22majority took there coming from the top rope a calculated risk but
07:28another risk this time paying off for Ospreay as Pac tries to escape to the outside Ospreay
07:35nimbly up to the top and a sky twister press of his own mirror images
07:41what in the hell are we watching my god strapping for this oh and look at that
07:48Ricochet's watching as well Ricochet longtime friend longtime rival of Will Ospreay
07:58made his debut all in London two weeks ago successful debut on Diamond when he defeated
08:03Kyle Fletcher and it was then that Ospreay went out to seemingly congratulate Ricochet on the win
08:11but Pac felt like he was once again being overlooked being disrespected by Will Ospreay
08:17and he certainly made a statement to that point dropping the international champion on his head
08:25so we've seen some incredible high flying athleticism from both these competitors as we
08:31know and now the strike's coming in just open-handed shots off Riyad what's keeping her eye
08:38on the action what did Will say to him back on your feet sunshine
08:51knife edge chop by Ospreay and really earlier I should have said Pac flew so Ospreay could have
08:57we'll all pretend I said that initially stuck to the back of the heavily taped neck of Will Ospreay
09:03in a striking exchange who'd you give the advantage to that is tough I think Pac just because
09:12he's a cantankerous surly fellow and now he is just driving his boot into the jaw a tightly wound
09:24spring as Ospreay grabbing at the back of his neck clearly still damaged from Wembley Stadium
09:30and all in which could cut down on his ability as well yeah well the big question for me
09:40after Will Ospreay seemingly retired the Tiger driver 91 because of the damage that it did to
09:47Brian Danielson which in my opinion wasn't really warranted because if that's the case
09:52if you're going to take a move away because it hurts Brian Danielson you're going to have to
09:55take away an elbow drop as well but that being as it may is he now does he now have that back
10:02in his arsenal will he use it again yes yes he will you believe so Tony even even after Ospreay
10:09he was so conflicted yeah I think I think it was MJF really pushed Ospreay into using it I don't
10:14know that I mean Pac for for his a stroppy of a bastard as he is I don't know that he's quite at
10:22the actually I know for a fact he's not quite at the same depths as MJF well no one is and I and
10:26I get what you're saying about the match against MJF but I really feel it's back in his arsenal
10:31again he of course being Will Ospreay who finds himself in the grips of Pac on the top rope
10:42the pause brain buster and Ospreay just shock waves of agony going through his body he may
10:51have suffered a stinger right there left shoulder he's pointing to his left shoulder and Albert
10:55Edwards hovering over Pac not concerned no makes the call makes the cover Ospreay kicking out
11:05yeah take a look here you see the way the legs of Pac crumbled underneath himself for added momentum
11:15to the back of the neck of his opponent and now just a simple headlock but with a damaged neck
11:22that is agony yeah no telling how much damage Ospreay came into this match but
11:30damage to the neck he came into this match with but it's most certainly been exacerbated
11:35by Pac in pursuit of his second reign as international champion
11:40now Pac content with just grinding him on the mat after that big explosion from the top
11:45and Nigel we say simple because this is I mean one of the first things you learn in wrestling
11:50school is side headlock but I mean really it puts a lot of torque a lot of pressure on an
11:54opponent's neck it's a very effective hold when used I'm not sure that Pac's gonna pick up a
12:01victory with it but he certainly can soften up Ospreay I want to beat Bryan Danielson with a
12:06side headlock stop it hit him with the diamond dynamite diamond ring first Pac escapes to the
12:13outside Ospreay how about that I thought Ospreay would take flight he rolled out with him surprisingly
12:18oh wait Ospreay leaps up to the barricade lures in Pac and now Ospreay what agility
12:26look at that elbow strike coming off the barricade effortless
12:34speaking of yep now he wants to take flights got to make sure he knows where his opponent is here
12:39you can see where his opponent is on his back on the outside he wants him to get up he's waiting
12:44for Pac to get up his Ospreay to connect as Aubrey Edwards checking on the outside Pac
12:53may have gotten a bit rattled by that elbow strike
12:58as Ospreay looking for that Sasuke special
13:07Pac was beside himself there certainly is hurt by the prior elbow didn't know where he was
13:14staggering around here at ringside and before he knew it in came Will Ospreay
13:21as Pac trying to regain his senses but Ospreay applying pressure Pac reverses Ospreay
13:30corkscrew kick now the cover barely a two count says referee Aubrey Edwards how was he how was
13:36he able to connect with a corkscrew kick from hitting the ropes like that Ospreay just taking
13:41off every direction first on the outside and then watch this to your points only pinpoint precision
13:48bang right to the side of the neck and sir Pac goes down hard like a sack of spuds
13:54like right on the trapezius I mean he connects Pac self-preservation there sweeping out the legs of
14:01Ospreay buying himself a moment to recover did Pac as Ospreay a landing like that takes the breath
14:12away well could be looking for the second super brain buster Ospreay certainly doesn't want to be
14:18on the receiving end to two of them headbutt here yeah things getting a little a little desperate
14:23as Ospreay has the head wedged in that corner and cheeky handles no but Pac is just so slick
14:34Ospreay catches
14:35no amazing
14:44there's you standing and now lighter bomb to no
14:54and if Ospreay's neck was hurt before now it is in agony yeah with a DDT and then
15:00oh look at the strength of Ospreay was impressive but the body control of Pac for as great of a
15:06high flyer as Will Ospreay is I think Pac may have him beat in that department
15:12only Ospreay took that DDT then he took the lager bomb
15:16let's see what he's got left man he's still on the mat
15:21Pac could be thinking black arrow kind of close
15:25and to to that point Tony Ospreay rolling out of range or attempting to at least
15:31he's relatively safe that close to the ropes at least from the black arrow
15:37Pac's got plenty of other stuff in his arsenal Pac vaulting off the back of Ospreay
15:43of Ospreay Ospreay standing Spanish fly cover
15:50Pac able to withstand the attempt to come back there by Ospreay
15:58well the athletes that we have here in A.W. are absolutely amazing I mean they really are
16:02what they do what they put their bodies through so have a great match world-class
16:09flying in way Ospreay and back inside looking for the Oscutter
16:13Oscutter, Pac using his power to prevent it and now Tombstone no Ospreay reverses
16:21Tombstone, Pac flattened out
16:26oh he's going for the hidden blade he knew it was coming
16:29yeah he saw Pac he had his eyes turned right and now deadlift
16:37but Ospreay the back elbow finds his feet
16:41oh, kick to the base of the neck
16:45Ospreay lands on his feet Oscutter
16:49but he's hurting look at that
16:53Ospreay's hurting
16:55Oscutter, the cover
16:57and Pac able to kick out that momentary hesitation may have cost Will Ospreay the victory
17:03that's the thing Nigel with with a neck injury or shoulder injury whatever Ospreay is dealing with
17:10anytime you take those backwards falling type maneuvers on your shoulders it's like a lightning
17:16bolt going through your spine you really gotta be adaptable variability is the key to success
17:22when it comes to championships think of what moves you can do where you don't end up with
17:28your neck on the mat so certainly to that point the hidden blade has got to be Will Ospreay's
17:37friend right now as you can tell they're both moving a little slowly right now and understandably
17:44so I remember their first match in 2019 look at this Ospreay just hands behind his back giving
17:54his opponent his neck yeah and you gotta wonder about that strategy you're right
18:03comes around the corner with that kick Pac staggering like a sailor on shore leave
18:07looks like a good strategy at this point wow the point I was going to make is that that first
18:13encounter between Pac and Ospreay ended in a 30 minute time limit draw these two men so evenly
18:18matched we are seeing it before our eyes here on pay-per-view wow those kicks are on target
18:29I've seen this before apron boss cutter yeah but Pac is waiting for him you can see that back with
18:35the waist lock oh my goodness oh Aubrey needs to check in yep she is checking in with Will Ospreay
18:48right now Pac you could see when Will went to the right as we're looking at it
18:55that Pac was waiting on him and Pac is not done he is relentless
19:02he is determined and he may be the new international champion
19:08Pac
19:12that's got to be it that's that that's got to be you can pin him quickly yes
19:18no brutalizer center of the ring Ospreay can he withstand yeah putting pressure on the neck
19:29Will shaking his head no how much can he take
19:33we may go out he may go out sometimes when you're in so much pain you almost black out
19:40it was that brutalizer against Kenny Omega five years ago this very building
19:47that Pac picked up the victory
19:54desperation and Pac looks pretty pissed off right now
20:00not just how he normally looks well that is but even more so just watch here first time
20:07oh look at the angle the back of the neck and if that wasn't enough same thing top of the skull
20:15on the apron one wonders if Pac had attempted a pinfall quicker perhaps he would have got the three
20:23either way oh look did you see what Ospreay did there almost as though he's he's playing possum
20:32because he knows the black arrow yeah he's in the the playbook got him in position you're right
20:40Pac with his footing on that
20:43oh
20:48just a two that's a great call Nigel this match is absolutely incredible
20:56what a story and now off comes the elbow bad
21:02the hit and blade no Pac counters backslide one two Ospreay kicks free Pac kicks him in the face
21:12only one of these men can be the international champion who the hell is it gonna be
21:18German suplex Ospreay's momentum carried him through to his knees
21:22Pac can taste it again no way
21:25in a double champion
21:42so close to getting a double title back and they're standing everywhere
21:55thank you
22:01in just five years those three letters AEW have become synonymous become synonymous
22:07with the very best in professional wrestling and we are witnessing it before our eyes
22:13another poison rod and this is where the best
22:16devastating
22:29lolling his mouth wide open yeah at some point Aubrey Edwards
22:36may need to make a judgment call here right absolutely
22:39look at Ospreay to his knees carrying the weight of Pac
23:03Ospreay responds determination itched on the face of the champion
23:09Pac
23:23we almost had a case of both men's shoulders down that time
23:33what a match
23:39oh my god Will Ospreay hitting himself in the head trying to get himself back on his feet
23:47pushing each other to the end of endurance and beyond
23:56Ospreay
24:00here he goes thinking Oscutter out of the corner oh wait oh Pac
24:05disrupting the balance of Will Ospreay
24:09and oh no thinking Avalanche yeah look back for his landing that time Avalanche
24:18Poison Rana perhaps oh good lord yeah please don't die
24:39oh god we'll never never count out the bastard we'll never forget this match as long as we live
24:58and Ospreay there he goes looking to make it a certainty
25:09no Ospreay
25:21Ospreay Pakistan weight
25:24one, two, three
25:29here is your winner and still AEW international champion the Ariela Sassic Will Ospreay
25:43we've seen great matches next down though I don't think anything tops that one
25:47the epitome of our sport
25:53the absolute pinnacle
25:58Will Ospreay and Pak two men representing different generations
26:06of British professional wrestling putting on a classic here tonight in Chicago
26:17unbelievable unforgettable
26:22that's how it went down right as Ospreay has endured a lot of punishment in this match
26:29he pushed forward the Oscutter looking to end things here one last attempt from Pak
26:36to pick up the victory the assassin would not be denied rolling through
26:44hitting the styles clash and when it was in his grasp he took the opportunity and dead weight
26:53folded his opponent to score a huge victory in one of the best matches of this industry
27:01an all-timer one of the great matches we've ever seen right in front of us
