More than 51,000 travellers passed through the Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration, Customs, Quarantine, and Security Complex (ICQS) border checkpoint into Thailand for the school break and Malaysia Day holiday.

00:15KERDA Immigration Department Director Mohamed Ridzuan Mohamed Zain said the figure accounted
00:20for the period from September 12 to 14, and the numbers are expected to keep increasing.
00:27He said another 6,003 tourists crossed into Thailand through the Kota Putra checkpoint.
00:33He said the department had taken measures to handle the surge by opening six additional
00:37counters at the checkpoint.
00:39He said Malaysians should ensure their passport remain valid and check on possible outstanding
00:44income tax or criminal records that could prevent them from traveling abroad.
00:49The department also said there was a surge in the application and renewal of passports
00:53and border crossing passes at the Bukit Kayu-Hitam Immigration Office.
